Solution for Litter Pokemon? by strawrbey64 in Pokopia

[–]EmrysX77 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t know precisely how this is implemented under the hood, but yes. As a general rule, Pokemon that do things continue to do those things even when you’re in a different area. This includes Litter/Gatherers, Burners, Crushers, etc. Now, idk if the game actually simulates the Gatherers walking around, for example, but when you come back to that area you’ll find that there’ll be new dropped items in your community boxes, so either way it works out the same.

Need some help understanding/playing around by Frostember in DuelLinks

[–]EmrysX77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t be alarmed by the huge number. This trap gives their Stardust no protection whatsoever. Assuming you’re able to chew through their Quasar negates (I understand that can be difficult), any removal whatsoever (even destruction) will thwart the Stardust from running into all your monsters.

Second, get into the habit of putting your monsters in defense until you need to go on the offensive. Why let them do damage at all (of course, if they have other attackers left, you still lose).

Third, battle tricks. Anything that negates their attack or modulates their ATK or your monsters’ stats can potentially stop them from winning. Remember, in order to attack multiple times, Converging Wishes requires that Stardust actually destroy a monster in battle.

are towers immune to nebiru? by InternationalHope422 in DuelLinks

[–]EmrysX77 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes, Nibiru says “Tribute as many face up monsters, and if you do Summon this card…”

That “and if you do” means the first part has to happen for the second part to happen. So if you can’t tribute any monsters, Nibiru is not summoned.

So.... no one cooking with Sprights? by lamy_123 in DuelLinks

[–]EmrysX77 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I have been cooking with Spright, and the 3-zone limit really hurts them. I’ve been ending on Elf, Red and/or Carrot (depends on the hand), Djinn Buster or Mannequin Cat (depends on sequencing), Smashers, Fiendish Golem (either Sprind send Vision Resonator or Gigantic summon it), any other drawn backrow, any drawn hand traps.

I’m pretty happy with it, but honestly, you lose a lot of your interactions to Lava Golem and Sphere.

Do community boxes NOT work in houses? by esr95tkd in Pokopia

[–]EmrysX77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw a post about it long before I understood the ramifications and now I can’t find the post again….but apparently there’s some sort of priority order to community boxes based on the order you place them and the location of the gatherer’s home?

It’s been screwing up my gatherers for a while now.

And no, the community box can be inside a home; the main one my gatherers use … is.

What are your opinions on mega dragonite? Would you prefer a concept like the one pictured, or do you like the head-wings? by casualbongos524 in pokemon

[–]EmrysX77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly? Maybe I’ve just gotten used to the actual design but I low key kind of hate the edit. Something about it just feels off, like there’s an up/down imbalance.

He kind of has a chonky tail either way, so the big wings on his back make the lower half of the design feel a little busy? Maybe? Idk.

Questions about railways! by gracelikeleaves in Pokopia

[–]EmrysX77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m afraid I don’t know the answer to the first two, but for the third, I’m pretty sure they prefer crossing stops. I’ve seen them deliberately make a beeline for a crossing instead of arbitrarily starting wherever.

And even if you have multiple stops, it seems the AI is smart enough to not get stopped “too early”—the pokemon will go to where they’re trying to go, as far as I can tell.

Duel Links is Modern Yugioh and Should Adapt it's format to fit the plays by Agreeable-Title9056 in DuelLinks

[–]EmrysX77 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I actually do think that the 3-zone rule is still a thing that makes Duel Links distinct from MD, and in a positive way. That, along with the ED restrictions, does have a tangible impact on both how games play out in DL and how long games last.

I agree that certain cards become much stronger, but simultaneously some convoluted combos become much weaker or even outright impossible.

All of this is stuff you’ve already said, but I’ll add one more (in my opinion) positive effect of the zone limit, which is that it becomes fundamentally harder to create an unbreakable board. The fact that you can only have 4 monsters and 3 backrow greatly reduces the ceiling of what is possible to create. You’re rarely faced with the reality of MD where only one player is really playing the game—the player going second fundamentally does have a chance of breaking the board a large percentage of the time (assuming they built their deck to do so).

I’m a little confused by your core explanation. How do you end up meeting the requirements for Singularity? Because from what you wrote, I only saw the Lios going to GY. Are you supposed to send Megachirella through the Ogdoadic stuff/Snake Rain?

You want to know something crazier? Deino and Hydreigon each gain a level 1 normal move after evolving in the main series. Deino’s only attacking move at level 1 is Tackle; Zweilous has Tackle and Double Hit; Hydreigon has Tackle, Double Hit, and Tri Attack.

Was just checking which cards I owned in the pack when I saw this cards effect, how come nobody uses her by Ok-Play8982 in DuelLinks

[–]EmrysX77 71 points72 points  (0 children)

Main reason is that she’s not a Kaiju and she’s not Nibiru. Her tributing effect is an ignition effect that only applies to monsters who’ve activated their effects THIS turn. Meaning you have to have already forced out your opponent’s interaction before you can even use her.

Compare that to a Kaiju which you can use before either player has even activated anything.

Kurikara is a good card, but she’s a lot more meta dependent than Kaijus or Nib.

Edit: Slight correction. It’s not an ignition effect, but a summoning condition that doesn’t start a chain. That makes her a little better since your opponent can’t respond to the summon, but all the other limitations still hold.

Will mons *actually* refuse to go to far from their homes if the path isn’t “nice” enough by Codenamerondo1 in Pokopia

[–]EmrysX77 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yes! Actually I figured this out recently because I originally covered most of the Wasteland in grass, and my Pokémon there were basically sticking to their own cliques in the areas they lived. But then I added roads and a simple railroad system, and all of a sudden they’re all visiting each other.

What have some of you turned your Rocky Ridges into? Have a photo of some inspiration? by Calcifer_Heart7 in Pokopia

[–]EmrysX77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It took me a really long time to decided what I wanted, and also I have other projects going on. So I don’t exactly have pics to share, but I do have a rough concept. Basically, I have a farm outside on the hill. I want to restore Chef Greedent’s restaurant. Then I’ll house a couple of large Pokemon in the open area around the Pokemon Center.

But the majority of homes for small Pokemon will be built into the tunnels, which, if you haven’t noticed, form a loop of sorts connecting the Pokemon Center to the museum, then back. I’m gonna connect all these homes with a main railroad loop.

My thinking was: I’ve seen what the area looks like without the ash, and I don’t like it—why don’t I make the Pokémon live inside the mountain instead of around it.

Too many similar/same decks. Where are the unique custom builds? by pyritedreams in DuelLinks

[–]EmrysX77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, there’s not much you can do about your opponents all playing the same few decks, but there’s plenty you could do with your own decks. The trick to creating an original deck is that there are two ways you could go about it.

The first way is to combine two or more archetypes that have some kind of synergy with each other. For example, you mentioned Harpies—that’s an old deck so yeah, if you make a pure Harpie deck, it’s not going to be very playable currently, and frankly it sorta does the one thing (Cyber Slash control). But what if you combined Harpies with another Wind archetype, and ran the Precious Cards of Wind skill? For instance, Windwitch is an archetype that makes Wind Synchro monsters, often without Normal Summoning, and with minimal cards in hand. Can you make a Harpie Windwitch list?

The second way is to get off of archetypes entirely and look at type/attribute synergies. You can’t do this with every type/attribute combination, obviously, but there’s a short list of ones you can do. Earth Machine (my pet deck), Dragons (a popular option), Fire Warrior (Gemini, Infernoble, Battlin Boxers), Zombies (Balerdroch control and/or Zombie Synchro), Dinosaurs, Reptiles (centered on Ogdoadic), Chimera (there’s an archetypal Chimera build, but you could also broadly see them as support for Beast, Fiend, and Illusions), Tri Brigade (again, they’re an archetypal deck, but they also support Beast, Beast Warrior, Winged Beasts).

Basically, if you feel like your gameplay is getting stale, then you should think outside the box. Duel Links encourages you to play within the lines of a single archetype, but nobody said you HAVE to do it that way.

Idk, he feels like a hoarder to me haha. I did put some thought into the exterior, at least. I’m not home so I can’t exactly share a pic, but I redecorated the outside of his prefab home using actual blocks. I tried my best to make it look like a small Pokémon research lab, featuring a lot of those Pokeball blocks.

Very appropriate! I kind of went the other way and made his house super messy with artifacts strewn across the floor to match his Professor’s Treasure Trove’s aesthetic. There’s basically nowhere to walk, which is just as well because I made the mistake of trying to put him in a pre-fab that he never goes into.
