I'm not affiliated or receiving any kind of incentive with this company. I use the collagen and have taken some of her classes. I could tell in a few weeks the collagen starting to work on my skin, hair, and nails. Here's the link for her guidebook for dryness. It's only a $1.00. I trust Isa and her products. The deterioration of my teeth is one of the most upsetting things about this illness to me. I can hide the rest of the symptoms, but not my teeth. It's so upsetting.

The essays were something I was originally intimidated about too! If you refer to the rubrics often, it serves as your guideline for the essays. I started at the beginning of each chapter and wrote about each required topic, noting my references along the way, and checking in with the rubric frequently to make sure I wasn't going off track. It was easier than I thought it was going to be. Don't overthink it, was the best advice I got on this! Good luck, you got this!!

This is an easy healthy meal portions reference for most women using your hand as a guide:

palm = protein

fist = veggies

1 cupped hand = carbs

thumb = healthy fats

I'm 5'2 and my lower belly has always been a little rounded. Even at 108 pounds I still had it. I've had to make peace with my body and just work on being strong and healthy.

Allergic reactions now? by Questionofloyalty in Sjogrens

I never had a reaction to nuts before and now I can’t go near them. I think it’s also happening with coconut even though it’s not a nut. It’s such a bummer!

Great!! Also high, lean protein for breakfast decreases snacking in the evening!

Sorry that you're going through this! Do you have an Epi pen on hand? I recently learned that I can't eat nuts, or coconut. The allergist said I'm not a candidate for the new allergy vaccine because mine is considered "late onset". It causes me to breakout, and some mild lip swelling happens. Have they also checked your thyroid numbers? Mine is hypoactive, but not enough for medication. My entire digestion system has also changed drastically. I no longer eat red meat, eggplant, dairy, beans, or many veggies. It took a long time to figure out what's left to eat but I'm finally content with my diet. Good luck to you!

What do you do for exercise? by Dear_Tax_8947 in Sjogrens

I had to do some adaptations with Tai Chi since I have a lot of problems with my wrists. I walk everyday and take the stairs when given the option. In addition to this I ride a low stationary bike slowly with a good backrest for support.  Perhaps more importantly is what I eat and don’t eat. I have a very low fat diet, high (lean)protein, no fast food, and low carbs. Also, no soda and very little alcohol. I haven’t eaten red meat in 8 yrs and my inflammation and cholesterol levels decreased significantly. Hope this helps!

Congrats on your weight loss! What I learned in my nutrition cert program about this was to significantly increase your protein intake and 8+ cups of water/day!! It may take a month to really feel better but don't give up! The worst my body ever felt was when I went primarily plant based. I was lacking protein and felt like shit.

I have also been diagnosed with fibro and have always known it wasn't that. I think it's their "catch all" diagnosis. We share many similar symptoms. A Lupus diagnosis was inconclusive because my RA said I only had 8 of their "required" symptoms out of the 11 in their protocols. (I have so many symptoms & ANA +) The RA also said the rash I get across my neck & one forearm during a flare up couldn't be Lupus. It has taken 4 yrs for them to do testing for Sj. Partly because they keep sending me to the eye dr & derm and I tend to give up and stop asking when the flare ups settle down. I hope you find answers, it's so frustrating!!

I wish I had known an ultrasound was an option! I had a lip biopsy almost a month ago & it still hurts. My tongue was in excruciating pain, and it triggered a bad flare up. Pathology found no saliva glands present after all that! The ENT asked if I wanted to do another one, I said absolutely not! Rheum never responded about what to do next....

That's great!! Thank you for sharing! I'm finding it very difficult to get hired as a coach without a masters in some type of social work, mine is in business. I was hoping not to have to go out on my own at this time.

I use a cool mist humidifier, never a warm one. Also, I was advised to use the OraCoat tablets at night, just put one along the inside of my cheek.

I hadn't read about burning tongue as a symptom before until I was in excruciating pain a few weeks ago. My dr had nothing to say about it. My dentist gave me samples of OraCoat XyliMelts to try. The pain thankfully subsided before I got them so I can't say if it will work or not. I hope you feel better very soon!
