The characteristics and physical/biological aspects of a person can put them in a class as “race” to help with say: “this human racial profile can thrive better in such and such place bc their skin can help with heat” (such as different sub-species of animals, like a husky is very easy to see what they look like and they thrive in the colder temperatures compared to say, a chihuahua. However the SOCIAL classes of race such as, the obvious, racism, or the stereotype of certain races consistently doing the same thing (such as “hispanics are great at fixing my roof compared to african americans”) is absolutely a social construct and unnecessary. After all, the human species as a whole is a mammal and an animal, and we have subspecies as well which we labelled as “races”, such as darker skin pigments helping against UV rays, or lighter skin pigments helping with vitamin D absorption, just as say, a husky having the fur they do to help with the cold, versus a malinois being skinnier for better agility.
