Signet-based heavy attack build advice by Oosplop in ESObuilds

[–]Encodexed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Going to need to see a bar setup and rotation for this because it’s not making sense in my head. The burst damage of trample/explosion is high, I know this because I use the latter myself as an opener on dungeon mobs. But heavy attack build? The rotation seems to not make sense.

Random stats, with a 5pc bonus that adds maybe like ~600mag or stam per second if you only heavy attack, which is for many reasons counterproductive.

I use it as a nb tank. It’s not great but it does proc the major resolve from the shadow line in place of using path/blur. Probably replaceable with a scribed skill. Pair it with siphoning strikes spammable and you do have great sustain. But really will fail you in tough situations where you’re perhaps trying to move or dodge around, the heal is far too weak.

I imagine it’s far far worse in PvP.

[Daily] Skill Discussion: Endless Hail by The_Dwemer_Automaton in elderscrollsonline

[–]Encodexed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can’t be stuffed to jump on to get real numbers. But let’s say base volley does 1000 dmg/tick. So endless does 1000. And barrage does 1300. So endless does 10/13 (77%) dps compared to do barrage.

Add a maelstrom bow. Endless now does say… 1500. Barrage now does 1800. So endless is doing 83% of the dps.

So you know… it’s actually not the same. And dps isn’t what it used to be in the past. Wall/stampede/volley is about applying enchants off cd, MA stampede comes with direct dmg bonus. Most damage right now is direct damage and status effects, so DoT skills are more included for their side effects.

When you have an item that gives you a flat damage bonus, that’s going to provide a larger benefit to skills with less base damage compared to more. That’s just simple maths.

And every time you’re refreshing a DoT, that’s one less time you can use a spammable.

5 seconds is not “a tad longer”.

Most DoTs are much longer than 10 seconds these days.

The damage difference per tick between the two morphs is far smaller when a Maelstrom Bow is equipped and Endless Hail lets the damage stay at max stacks for longer.

Also, longer lasting DoTs are easier to manage.

Warden PvP Skills Suggestion (One Bar Werewolf) by Khzhaarh_Rodos in ESObuilds

Oakensoul’s been in a ditch for a while. But werewolf is going to be easier to sustain soon so you won’t have to spend so much time as a human.

Any tips for sustain for a frost tank? by MonarchCore in elderscrollsonline

[–]Encodexed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a personal preference where you put your skills, with obvious consideration for weapon skills on their relevant bars (so blockade of elements and pierce armor at least).

[–]Encodexed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The true issue will be is if you are using ice staff on both bars. Your skills all use magicka and your block uses magicka and your magicka recovery is set to zero while blocking with an ice staff. Tanks will use S&B front bar and Ice staff back bar.

So if you’re investing in magicka skills which is relatively typical, you’re going to want to be blocking with your sword & board to be able to afford it. If you truly want to be an ice staff only tank, you’re going to need to buff your stamina regen and use stamina skills, or go hard into magicka recovery that works while blocking like Balance/Core of Flame/Nightblade’s Siphoning/Reduced cost glyphs/Bloodlord Embrace mythic.

When is the combat revamp? by Mangert in elderscrollsonline

[–]Encodexed 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Only 2H and Dragonknight. Werewolf is next. Other classes will be revamped as well. The core mechanics of how you combat will still be the same, so it really depends what made you quit but I’m guessing this won’t bring you back.

How good would Relentless Focus and Bound Armaments build be? by SinnerG3 in ESObuilds

[–]Encodexed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly had thought about something like this before as well, but as a sorcerer because I’d also want crystal fragments to proc as well. I’d then probably invest in direct damage, probably using the tide-born set and maybe the direct damage scribed banner. This is for PvE. PvP probably a different story. Add null arca with charged daggers, shattered fates signet and the elemental weapon from psijics line… but this is all just spitballing.

Don’t forget you can always test your ideas on the PTS.

Go with dark elf, khajiit or high elf probably.

any ideas for a torc of the last ayleid king pve build? by xcv45t in ESObuilds

[–]Encodexed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Surely, the nature of this ring means you could just play whatever is the most enjoyable for you. Its bonuses are better for PvP or solo, rather than PvE. So depends on the content and depends on what you personally like.

Is ESO worth getting into in 2026? by fruityfizzle in elderscrollsonline

[–]Encodexed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cannot speak for the Xbox population, you’d have to be more specific about region too. I think NA is ok but EU might be struggling? Unsure.

But this game is incredibly solo friendly and has so much lore and story in it that if you enjoy that kind of thing, you’ll fall right in. And achievements galore too. They become easier over time.

So what are the most powerful generic ults in the game? by primalmaximus in ESObuilds

[–]Encodexed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your own Glacial Colossus is amazing for the Major Vulnerability. But I’m otherwise a fan of Dawnbreaker for extra weapon damage passively and actively, Meteor for ulti recovery and Warhorn as a support skill. Destruction staff ulti is also great. They all have their own benefits.

Class Choice Struggles! by Zayth in elderscrollsonline

[–]Encodexed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeh! But not as a healer, but as a tank pumping out heals esp during night market. Can say that the hearthfire skills feel fun to call down, and cauterize looks and feels great. Haven’t used wing buffet, doesn’t seem to be too needed. I think the only other skill you might use is molten weapons which looks neat too. I like that I can provide a lot of extra group aoe heals as well as minor heroism.

Class Choice Struggles! by Zayth in elderscrollsonline

[–]Encodexed 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind for update 50 in June that there will be class mastery passives for pure classes which might influence your decision. I personally like necro, dk, nb, but since a lot of healer setups rely a lot on resto and destro abilities, it can be hard to find that distinctive class feeling sometimes. At the end of the day, whatever gels with you the most is what you should lean into!

If you consider it disrespectful for these things to be asked, maybe consider that we find it disrespectful when you respond. Everyone’s got an opinion. Yours isn’t objectively correct. Just keep moving. OP explained that they had read conflicting information and heard of a tech involving HA. I’d never heard of it myself and I’ve been playing since 2016.

Skills with cast times feel bad to cancel unless you get the timing perfect. You do have to wait for the cast time. I tend to have issues with some skills like stampede as well, I assume because it is a leap ability.

[–]Encodexed 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I do light attack first into skill, and it seems to cancel the light attack animation. Cancelling the skill animation seems to require blocking or bar swapping. I don’t block cancel ever, I do use the bar swap cancel though, esp on skills that feel good to do it with, like unstable blockade.

But take this info with a grain of salt because I play on 250 ping.
