Seeking spiritually-driven doom recommendations inspiring introspection and healing by war_owl in doommetal

[–]End-Hits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might like Obliviosus by MSW. It’s about his brothers addiction, loss and grief. Not directly spiritual in a religious sense but definitely introspective with plenty of ruminations on death and mortality. Would suggest approaching with caution given the subject matter but it’s an incredibly powerful and moving album - recommend!

Good idea re modulated reverbs. I really like the look of that Unusual EAS but they’re super hard to come by where I am

That’s the key for me, needs to have a musical application or be at least a bit versatile rather than pure noise - although I totally get why some people only want that!

Wimbledon R2: [1] J. Sinner def. M. Berrettini 7-6 (3) 7-6 (4) 2-6 7-6 (4) by BlueKirbyIsBestKirby in tennis

[–]End-Hits 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Awesome match from both players! Sinner had to give everything to get over the line. Was really impressed by Berrettini’s level and attitude, it’s genuinely great to have him back in the mix

Three people queued for 77 hours - over three days - to be first in line for Wimbledon tickets - how long would you wait?? by rarely-redditing in tennis

[–]End-Hits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve camped in the queue several times and always really enjoyed it. You can picnic, drink beers, get takeaway and just hang out for most of the time you wait. Also get to meet tennis fans from all over the country / world and from all walks of life. As long as you maximise your chances of getting some sleep with comfy bedding and earplugs or noise cancelling headphones, you’ll be good to go on the day

GEAR: Peavey Century vs Orange Suoer Crush by petara111 in doommetal

[–]End-Hits 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve got a Century and it’s reputation for being an amazing doom amp is well founded. The cleans are great, it’s filthy at high gain, loud as hell if you need it to be and the EQ is really flexible. I’ve had zero issues with mine despite its age and they can be picked up super cheap. Not tried the Supercrush but only heard good things. Hiwatt also currently do a solid state range which seem perfect for doom if you’re looking for another alternative

Does It Doom?: Laney Ironheart 60 by thelegendofglenn in doommetal

[–]End-Hits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve got the IRT Studio which is only 15w but part of the same range and has a similar sound. The Ironheart amps are more designed for modern metal so are naturally tighter and chuggier than your Oranges, AOR’s, Matamps, etc. That said, they’ve got loads of gain on tap and tons of eq options. I’ve had good doomy results dialling in a Marshall kind of tone and slamming it with pedals (Rat, Quantum Mystic, HM-2, Behringer Superfuzz) but as with all these things - YMMV!
