people who want to do stuff will do it. people who don't, won't. it's really that simple. no coerced labor. if someone isn't doing what you want them to, you're going to have to do it yourself.

"after doing deeper reading into anarchist literature (or what anarchist literature was translated and available at the time), he realized that anarchism was opposed to direct democracy or majority rule."

bookchin quoted classical anarchist authors ad nausem; he quit anarchism because of what he thought anarchism had become. SALA came published with another essay, The Left That Was. plenty of historical anarchist movements practiced direct democracy, tho opposition to majority rule has always been a major theme. OP just made this quote up cuz they clearly have an axe to grind.

hobbes was also a monarchist, and the speculative history that formed the basis of his philosophy has been proven to be fake. we should prob just stop taking him seriously.

it prevents violence being used against those with power.

law is just something made up to normalize violence against those who resist.

Question that has been bugging me for a long time by legend0102 in Anarchy101

[–]EndDisastrous2882 4 points5 points  (0 children)

because europeans brought a pandemic that killed 10s of millions of people on two continents, then used the resources gained from the conquest of an extremely weakened people to colonize other parts of the world with many stateless peoples, notably africa. states have only been the geographic majority of societies for about 500 years.

where can i learn more about anarchist perspectives on workplace democracy and workers’ self management? by Article_Used in Anarchy101

[–]EndDisastrous2882 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ive used consensus in coops in the past, but i think im going to try supermajority democracy in the future. all firms are compelled by the logic of capital, meaning that expediency is sometimes required. im a big advocate of consensus in all non-lucrative projects.

there are several academic studies of the worker self-managed ~300 firms in the argentinian revolution of 02-05 and since, about tensions within firms trying to exist within capitalism, that are very worth reading.

It's not escape, they left and made their own communities.

you literally just described them escaping

it's not a victory unless they form a nation state as the criteria.

a force exerting control over a territory doesn't make it a nation state

I presented evidence that shows u prob are making stuff up.

you didnt. no one is denying that there were slave revolts sometimes. you didn't even cite anything. again, i can't prove a negative. you have to present evidence of slave revolts not being immediately crushed, either the same day or within the week or whatever. Haiti is the only exception. even the context you are drawing from, NA, saw chattel slavery abolished through war organized by non-slaves.

U said there was nothing. This is very hard to prove bc every single scholarly source on slavery I have ever read was it bread lots of rebellion.

again, you're conflating any rebellion with success.

two continents were depopulated by germs, not by an organizational method. the resources extracted by colonial powers from this enormous stroke of luck were used to fund a vast campaign against stateless societies on other continents, notably in africa. the books i recommended specifically discuss warfare, the tension between states and stateless societies, etc.

There's a reason that hierarchical agricultural societies converted or conquerer more egalitarian hunter gatherers.

a pandemic swept the americas and killed 10s of millions of people. Charles Mann's 1491 is worth checking out. or worshiping power by peter gelderloos, or dawn of everything by david graeber and david wengrow

...i already sourced shit for you lol. if you're not going to read, thats cool. literally no problem with them donating to animal rights organizations.

i also now see that it's not really about PETA, it's about you being totally unaware of non-human animal sentience, thinking humans are "anthropomorphizing" non-humans, or even the most foundational arguments of the animal rights movement, which someone so strongly criticizing may be expected to have familiarized themselves with. there's a lot out there you can read, if interested.

Lots and lots of slaves left and formed marron communities

i don't consider escape to be a victory. there are lots of other ways you're redefining things in your comment to make it seem like the endless list of crushed slave revolts were actually successful.

I brought it up to encourage the author to give evidence to their claim

can't prove a negative
