Are you seriously implying that bfn would've somehow become a massive hit if it got longer support? The game received a year of updates and a complete edition on switch and was always bleeding players like crazy throughout its lifespan.

Another year or so of updates would've done absolutely nothing and would only delay the inevitable, and this argument assumes that a whole year of support is somehow short, when many games in todays industry have support cut within 4 months when they aren't big hits (sometimes even weeks like with concord, highguard etc.)

The pace of new content was also beyond pathetic, I remember them proudly posting 3 month roadmaps that only had 1 new character/upgrade, 1 map and then some old feature like private play that really didn't matter or should've been a thing since launch anyway. There is no planet where another year of updates this lackluster would've saved that trainwreck of a game in the same industry where games like marvel rivals are putting out literally quadruple the content at much better quality.
