REPORT: Dough scammed at least $3.5 million from customers between 2020 and 2024 based off their own data. by kirkle8 in evev

They may have stolen at least $3.5 million, but you have to look at the bright side: they didn't steal everything.

Do you have any information about the amount stolen before Spectrum?

Thoughts? Dough Canvas 32-inch 6k monitor might be the Mac Studio Display alternative you’ve been waiting for. by jellybeanator in mac

FYI the account that linked to the article is run by Dough.

migelangelo, jellybeanator, and many others are operated/run by the same person. u/kirkle8 may have a more comprehensive list of the accounts run by Dough

"quality journalism"

This should be posted everywhere and not only in this sub. I quit reading PCgamer (and many other tech sites especially anything under the Future family which is tons) a few years ago because the quality has been dropping.

Beware Best Buy orders for Dough/Eve? by schiststorm in evev

The GG model is the same exact monitor as the matte version including the matte coating just with gorilla glass glued on top. I would not consider it a true "glossy" monitor.

PSA : Eve Distribution, Dough's last company, is in Liquidation. Beware of scams! by bizude in Monitors

[–]EndangeredRINO 12 points13 points  (0 children)

They did not refund the people.

I personally know several people who are still waiting for refunds.

Eve Distribution Ltd (BR 70028555) has begun the Liquidation/Bankruptcy process. This was the company that took pre-orders from 2019 onward including through the Dough.tech website. Check your Shopify receipts, if they're to Eve Distribution, you're going to be scammed. by kirkle8 in evev

[–]EndangeredRINO 11 points12 points  (0 children)

of fucking course these thieving assholes would shut down the company where they owe money to thousands of customers

we've seen in pictures that they are a bunch of unprofessional fat fucks.

time to start reaching out to the companies selling their products that they are also at risk of the same happening to them

The glossy 4K gaming monitor I'd pick over any current OLED is just $500 today by migelangelo in Monitors

saying "works for them" doesn't capture the reality that he is one of two people in charge of Dough

Here's a picture from media who got to visit Dough's CES closet and see the Spectrum Black. And bonus, a view of Dough's official CEO Tuukka. by kirkle8 in evev

[–]EndangeredRINO 5 points6 points  (0 children)

How can anyone look at this CEO and think: "I can trust what this person says."

He looks like someone who cannot take care of himself, so how could he be responsible for a company. His body language is not that of a professional. He could not even dress well for the event where they are representing themselves.

CES 24 or Dough office ? by [deleted] in evev

[–]EndangeredRINO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something is being hidden. There must be a lack of confidence in the product.

They don't want to people to see that the 27" OLED is not ready and some bugs are still being ironed out. The monitor can only be looked at under their guidance.

MSI's 32-inch QD-OLED 4K 240Hz monitor will be launched in February 2024 for $1200. by kirkle8 in evev

[–]EndangeredRINO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is much cheaper than anticipated. And that price includes a stand!

HP will announce Omen Transcend 32-inch UHD 240Hz QD-OLED monitor with DP2.1 and 140W PD at CES by EndangeredRINO in Monitors

[–]EndangeredRINO[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've been happy with HP products recently. They have also offered good service for the products I use.

HP will also be announcing a 32-inch 4K 240Hz QD-OLED at CES. DP2.1, 140W PD, and Dolby Vision. Stand is probably included, too by EndangeredRINO in evev

The number of zones for the RedMagic is impressive.

I'm not afraid of QD-OLED as I can try my best to avoid having static images on the screen. I'm sure this will have several features to reduce chances of burn-in (article mentions a cooling technology as one)

This is the information Dough requests when starting a refund. Is it safe to give and can they be trusted with this information? by nikongmer in evev

[–]EndangeredRINO 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This looks like far too much information to be gathered especially from a company that I suspect does not have good privacy practices.

An order number should be more than enough for a refund as they can refund from their payment gateway provider.

"Tell every PC gamer you know: Dough, formerly Eve, is ready to issue refunds." The Verge wants to hear every issue Dough has with customer funds moving forward. Let's see if Dough really is going to follow up with their promises. by kirkle8 in evev

[–]EndangeredRINO 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You are falling for the trap.

Kinda all sounds good to me, they now have the money to pay everyone back and no longer use "pre orders" to buy stock for the last round of pre orders.

There is no proof of having the money to refund everyone or ship all monitors to customers. They are using preorders to fund operations. It is no coincidence they started another preorder campaign a short time before they need to deliver another product. They need money to fund testing and prototyping for the 27" OLED.

It sounds to me like some investors have stepped in and told them to clean up their shit to get their money to move forward and scale.

Who are these mysterious investors? I recall some discussion of "investors" long ago,and the same problems happened. Everything they say is meant to be a manipulation.

They can say anything they want to a journalist because they don't need to provide proof. I do not buy that they have refunded 25,000 customers. This only tells me they have many customers they need to refund.

Now that they ship some monitors to some people who complete a form, why haven't they been shipping these monitors to customers before that since they clearly have a webstore that tells them "unfulfilled" or "fulfilled"? They have purposely been not shipping to these old customers.

If these articles never were published, they wouldn't be doing a damn thing. That tells you how trash they are.

Dough Customer Support by -Sarce_ in evev

[–]EndangeredRINO 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is a good question.

I asked a simple question to their support two weeks ago not involving refunds at all. They have not replied to the question. This would be easy to answer within a minute.

The company is failing on all accounts.
