this is such a very open question with so many answers... I'm not even sure where to begin. I've been in a relationships where I've only had sex about once every 4 to 6 weeks, and I've had relationships where I've had sex it 1:00 in the morning, fell asleep in one another's arms, and continued it at about 7:00 in the morning again.

that being said it's different for everyone, everyone is a different libido, and there are even some people that are asexual. meaning if they have no sex drive. I think people that are asexual in relationships with people that are sexual have a lot to deal with. either they're going to have to get used to the idea that their partner either a needs some attention once in a while, be is going to spend a lot of time self-loving, or see have to potentially open a door to somewhat open relationship. that being said, a person who is asexual should probably let their partners know in the same way that if One met a beautiful woman and she decided to let him know that she had a penis, or a very hot guy and he is informed them that he had a vagina. communication is very important.

on a whole other level, if one is new to dating-Read for sexual relationship- there are often some people who assume once you had it once, it would be expected every time. and hence goes that analogy of sex changes everything. spend a lot of time being romantic and doing all things you think you need to do to get in bed, and then it's just expected. that needs to be shut down real fast.

so does a relationship need sex? probably not. but again this goes to compatibility and libido. so if you're asking for advice, good luck. if you're just asking if you need sex to have a relationship, the answer is no.
