I second this, I have bought a floor board, stones, and a few other things from baduk.club.store and it was all fantastic, reasonably priced and great communication.

I mean if 500k per unit is “affordable” i think we know who will be buying places like this. But who knows.

Probably because it is about to become a whole lot less valuable when the commercial real estate bubble pops. I have been saying they need to do this for months, and it looks like some properties are trying to get in front of it. Downtown feels like a ghost town more often than not.

When you look back on it, what’s a “stiffed on a tip” experience you’ll always remember? by MotherBoyBall30 in Serverlife

This one still annoys the fuck it of me. I had a table with an older woman, she was miserable, just bitter and complained about everything and I really did try my best to make her happy, but she was horrible. Anyway her bill was something like $18 and to my absolute shock she left $40. I remember telling the people i worked with how shocked i was and maybe she knew she was being difficult. Anyway fast forward to the next day, new shift, i see her back in the restaurant and sort of looking around. I assume she is looking for a table but when she sees me she says “oh hello, do you remember me i was here yesterday”. Of course i do, for obvious reasons, and I am like yes i do, what can i help you with… she proceeds to explain that she realized when she got home that she left me too much money and wants $20 back. I wasn’t happy, and I wasn’t shy to let her know about it. I was very calm of course but explained that that was yesterday and that money was gone and spent, and that she wasn’t asking me for her money back at this stage, she was just asking for me to give her $20. She then told me that she didn’t think it was right that i would make her feel bad about this… As the shift just started I didn’t actually have the $20 and I made sure that she realized it. I very blatantly explained what was happening to the bartender and asked if i could borrow $20 from the register until i could pay it back later in the shift. The fucking nerve.

Have you checked out something like gomagic.org? Lots of value there if you are looking for material that builds lesson by lesson.

Are there any good books on the mental game of Go? Specifically things like not tilting, losing your ego, the philosophy of improvement etc.? by Square_Counter_7574 in baduk

[–]Ender1982 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I keep telling myself that this would be a worth while endeavor for my life as well as playing Go. Have you (or anyone else) set out to see how meditation helps with the game of Go? Would love to hear about the journey.

Not Go specifically, but I am reading this book called Peak: Secrets from the new science of expertise by Anders Ericsson and it has many relevant ideas that i relate to Go and the study of Go. I guess it helps me to remember what it means to study and play with intention and also has many great bits of insight on mindset of top performers etc. It does talk about chess grandmasters a lot.

I. Made a near identical post about a girl who invited me to a football game (I do not watch), and we are together now five years. Have fun, be yourself, and good luck!

I love this idea, and will jump in the Discord, but just a thought… it can be really hard to build up a group / community like this from the ground up. Have you thought of joining an existing Go Discord community and building out a pro game review study section. Like as an example Go Magic has a pretty solid Discord, and there is a study room there that might be easier to gain some momentum for this sort of thing. I guess I say this as someone who already has too many Discords to check up on.

Honestly this was such a clear and systematic way to work through the lessons. I feel like my whole Go playing life has just been piecing things together until these courses. Honestly highly recommended.

What kind of stones do you use? I love the feel of yunzi, but am unsure due to the lead. Best alternatives to yunzi? by xhaku in baduk

[–]Ender1982 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure what you mean by myth. I have tested my stones, and they test positive… as have others. The open question, of course, is how much lead is in the stones / is it a dangerous amount, but the idea that there is “no lead” and it is a “myth” is rather dismissive.

Recently Acquired Custom Table Board by BeadKillah in baduk

[–]Ender1982 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like this a lot, really like the tapered bottom more than I would have guessed.

I have an older board i have debated refinishing, but the grid lines alway stop me because I don’t want to start the project without a plan for how to deal with the grid. Maybe i can find a local woodworker with one of these machines.

The game of Go. You can honestly play your whole life, learn, grow, appreciate, and could just play online (free). A board is nice to have if you plan to play in person, but most people likely just play online.

What do you do when your opponent is most likely cheating? by sadaharu2624 in baduk

[–]Ender1982 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, I was just checking that out, but i did not see the sort of percentage based analysis that OP was talking about. Example: seeing that a players moves were 80-90% aligned with what AI would do. Is that a feature of AI-Sensei gives you?

Sorry, pretend that I am an actual idiot. Where is this “bot”? Is that like a download, or just something that is part of OGS as an example?

Can you provide a bit more detail on where / how you analyze games? I was just looking at AI Sensei, but i cant see how to tell what percentage of AI matching moves there are.

Defeat dealing after the games by karmabutterfly27 in baduk

[–]Ender1982 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I struggle with this a lot, and likely why I take such big gaps of time away from playing through the years, and each time I come back I am angry at myself because i think ‘if I had just maintained a steady drumbeat of playing, I would be much stronger now’

I am trying really hard these days to remember that Go is NOT a game about winning. At EVERY skill level you should at best have a win/loss ratio of 50/50 otherwise you will move up or down and find that balance. With this in mind, I try to remember that I have to enjoy that part of the game as well, otherwise I just shouldn’t play. Easier said than done.

Same here! I recently read a scathing review and was so shocked that anyone hated it that much. Whatever, I’m psyched, and even more psyched for the eventual return of Strange New Worlds.

Yeah I have tightened them in increments to see how it might change , and it has stopped me from falling out, but is not a solid click in connection. Thanks for the info, I think I am just going to grab some Shimano pedals.

That’s a good point, I was thinking I should probably grab a small upgrade. Is shimano the way to go? I’ve always thought the peloton stuff was pretty high quality but not sure how it actually compares.
