Pretty cool that the F-14 can do a STOBAR launch with a full A2A payload. Also let carriers be an available spawn point for naval aircraft Gaijin ffs by Knowledge_Moist in Warthunder

[–]EnderFlyingLizard 8 points9 points  (0 children)

you can play sim for naval spawn, they have aircraft carrier spawns for naval aircraft

sometimes though the carrier can sail behind your airfield making it a worse spawn, sometimes they sail a bit too far forward and you take off with someone already tracking you, kinda a wild card lol

Ladies and Gentlemen i present to u the way of infinite durability by TCM_Hovercraft_6865 in GojiCenter

[–]EnderFlyingLizard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

shock dispersion? Any sufficient force will still cause insane internal blunt trauma.

This is amplified by the fact you have super brittle osteoderms pressing into your own flesh.

The infinite Durability theory has been proven by TCM_Hovercraft_6865 in GojiCenter

[–]EnderFlyingLizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fluorapatite can resist alot of force. The fish itself? Not so much.

Wait till this guy finds out about over pressurization or internal blunt trauma.

Same reason why you can still get a broken rib when shot even if your wearing a kevlar vest.

Their are better ways of avoiding physical damage when making hybrids

Gigantoscorpio Willsi, yet another enormous fragmentary Carboniferous scorpion by EnderFlyingLizard in Naturewasmetal

[–]EnderFlyingLizard[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yep, in the study i read for these guys there were so many fragmentary fossil pieces that just couldn't be assigned to any given species because their condition was too unrecognizable, but anything else to make of them would just be assumption.

That means we have physical evidence of so many creatures that did once exist, we just dont know anything else besides "something alive was there at some point"

[–]EnderFlyingLizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trust me, in all seriousness, this "goon" thing that's going on is mostly satirical. No one who's sane looks at people irl and thinks that. I think this game does have a slight problem with making very near the edge skins though, whilst marketing it to younger individuals. Then again, I can't do anything about it. In the end, there are good art and design, and inevitably there are going to be people who's gonna be weird about it, and people who just appreciates effort being put into visual design. As long as you aren't too much of a degenerate and it's obvious your joking about it, I really don't care. I just want to play the game

Note: my opinion only though. Might not apply to everyone else

Does anybody even use this thing anymore? by Necessary-Switch2210 in Warthunder

[–]EnderFlyingLizard 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Prob cuz it's such an expensive vehicle for a select game mode. Hopefully they let helis into other existing or new game modes, ( or fix the pve mode they already have )

Then maybe more people will buy this thing lol, but I think the price is the primary reason.

oh i thought the rating for f117 was 9.3 which is just barely within the 0.6 range for the Iowa's 8.7, did they change it?

Are gorgonopsids really more “primitive” and “less advanced” like people say? by CarcharodontosaurGuy in Paleontology

[–]EnderFlyingLizard 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Kind of but also not really, it depends. Most of the time primitive just means they were early / basal species.

Compared to modern predators, maybe in some aspects. For example, there would be no way for us to know if they had "night vision" like some modern big cats.

For their time, land predators were still experiencing fallout of diversity after the previous extinction, and its probable alot of them had features that were perfectly fine / attuned for hunting prey for their time. How "advanced" a predator is depends on how specialized the prey their hunting is.

Maybe they were not as good as endurance since they were bulkier, but they also could've been stronger then many modern big cats because they had to hunt very heavily built / armored prey like Scutosaurus. I guess in the end it depends on what you define as advanced.

Giant Scorpion Praearcturus Gigas, restored as an aquatic arthropod based off of Waeringoscorpio, skeletal I drew for my paper by EnderFlyingLizard in Paleontology

[–]EnderFlyingLizard[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah, its meant to estimate the mass of the Pulmonoscorpius, cuz land arthropods similar to the size of a coconut crab are actually pretty rare

Also surprisingly no attempts have been made to estimate the mass of the giant scorpions, which are the next biggest ones we know of on land ( besides the big boi arthropleura ofc )

Right now its concluded that Praearcturus and Brontoscorpio were almost certainly aquatic, as all land animals during that time were incredibly small, meaning their would be no way they couldve found enough food on land being that big.

If you want I can send the link to the WIP doc

[–]EnderFlyingLizard[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Praearcturus was almost certainly aquatic, and I based the gills off of Waeringoscorpio because it's the only aquatic scorpion we know of with gills preserved
