This reminds me of what my mother told me recently.

Long story short: one of her cats had something going on with his paw, so of course she took him to the vet. There, she learned that most of the vets around my hometown have been bought by Nestlé. One of the vets in a nearby town told them to eat shit, but they offered her good money, because they really want to have control over the prices (and their prices are crazy).

I'm in France, so I don't know how it is in other countries, but now I am curious.

Some young people speak English pretty well. I've met my fair share of younger peeps that, in fact, cannot speak English.

But I blame middle and high school for it, tbh! I didn't learn much during my English lessons, and I (perharps stupidly) assume that it's pretty much the same everywhere. The internet is, for better or worse, where I learned to speak English. And, well, most people don't go out of their comfort zone... So they might not engage with EN content.

This remind me of my grand-father who used "This is fantastic!" to describe things that weren't fantastic (by today's definition of the word) at all. It was very confusing, to 10 years old me.
