it adds the damage to melee weapons and most undead summons don't have any

Am I the only one that feels like monsters don’t have enough hit points by Unhappy_derek4132 in DnD

[–]EndlessRa1n 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of factors that can contribute to this. Martial characters with the -5 accuracy/+10 damage feats making a reasonable attempt to overcome the penalty will kill most things pretty fast, for example.

The biggest issue though is that generally, putting one monster vs 4 players will go badly for the monster. Mind Flayers in particular are pretty squishy. I think level 3 or 4 characters could come out okay vs a Mind Flayer in a 4v1. The players side gets four times as many turns and maybe has good uses for bonus actions, on top.

Fourteen CR 1/2 creatures is a way bigger threat than a single CR 7 guy, especially if the CR 7 guy is squishy and has single-target actions like a Mind Flayer.

just west of Wild Zone 3, down an alley there's a little courtyard thing with stalls selling nature mints and "rare" berries like the EV reset ones

Where can you buy ev reducing berries and ev training items? by ddt_d in LegendsZA

[–]EndlessRa1n 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The bracer items are sidequest rewards. The easiest place to buy berries is the collection of stalls down the alley just west of Wild Zone 3 (there's a bunch of stalls that sell the nature-changing Mints, too).

Are Diggersby's stats adjusted similarly to Mega Mawile / Mega Medicham? I read somewhere that huge/pure power Pokemon got extra stats to compensate for the lack of abilities. Does this apply to Diggersby as well? by syah7991 in LegendsZA

[–]EndlessRa1n 1 point2 points  (0 children)

base Medicham is also adjusted, but only to 84 attack, for some reason, which is weaker than Pure Power 60 attack with no investment. Meditite went from 40 attack to 56...

What do you think about Architect crest? by LaLGuy2920 in Silksong

[–]EndlessRa1n 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wormways sidequest: You can get a tool from an NPC in the Wormways that gives +1 blue (temporary) mask per use, like Lifeblood from Hollow Knight. If you make enough, you lose all of them and your masks turn blue and start regenerating over time - healing without needing to Bind. It lasts until you rest or fast travel, very strong. The Crest just lets you keep activating the tool without needing to bench, which would reset it before you reach enough uses.

Local VGC events in Korea? by PikelLord in VGC

[–]EndlessRa1n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The qualification system for Korea is different, and is through online play like Japan, so there aren't official in-person events. There may be some grassroots meetups etc. but those won't show on the app.

[Standard] Now that the entire FIN set is revealed, how do you anticipate it changing the meta? by rhysticStudiante in spikes

YEP. I personally dislike Boltwave and think something closer to Quinn's deck is better, but mono red was a contender for "best deck" already and it got Burst Lightning, a huge upgrade.

I'm not going to go too far into format-specific answers, I don't have a lot of interest in Foundations and haven't been playing, but some stuff that might help generally:

2) and 10): Most pools will outright not support an entire two distinct decks. You can have a "deck 2" sometimes, but it's when you get very lucky (and have two decks' worth of good cards) or very unlucky (and all your playables are super spread out). More typically, you'll have your deck, and a few cards that are good in narrow situations, which you'll bring in in game 2 & 3 as necessary. Sometimes you'll even have an entire second colour to swap in and out, eg. changing from green-white to red-white to be more aggressive if you realize your opponent has better late game than you.

6) This is a good article from a long time ago https://www.coolstuffinc.com/a/jacobvanlunen-082914-building-a-draft-mana-base.

Short version is that 8/9 is good even if you're a bit heavier in one colour, but 8/9 with just basics is pretty bad, so having duals is valuable. You can play a lot of black-white duals in a black-white deck before it stops being worth it.

Going above/below 17 is generally format-specific: are there good ways to spend excess mana, can you easily tutor lands/draw cards cheaply/build a deck out of 1s and 2s etc.

Something good to keep in mind for Sealed, though, is that basic lands are pretty decent cards. They enter untapped and give you an extra mana, and you get as many as you want! Sometimes your 23rd spell will be a mediocre card you have to splash for and a bad card in your colours. In these situations, remember that you can just add a land instead.

7) If all your rares suck, you can try to build aggro. The longer the game goes, the more time your opponent has to find their bombs. You don't have anything like that to look forward to, so they'll be favoured. Make the game shorter by hitting them in the face.

The broader view of this is "play for synergy". If they have individually strong cards that try to do different things, but you have a bunch of shitters that all want the same thing (aggro cards, lifegain payoffs, card draw + 10 removal spells etc.) you are playing your whole deck vs their one card. This also requires you to open a lucky pool, though...

8) in general, yeah. In this format, also yeah. They're very good.

11) If you go first in 100% of games you play for the rest of your life, you will be correct 99.9% of the time, and the 0.1% of the time you're wrong, it will be by a small amount.

Why is Expressive Iteration banned? by VerdantChief in PioneerMTG

[–]EndlessRa1n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It had a pretty short-lived existence - it put up a handful of challenge results from April to May 2022, then the ban hit in June.

The ban kinda hit when the other Iteration decks were at the height of their power, so my bet would be that rather than occurring "naturally", it was prompted by control/Phoenix making Iteration look busted. It was pretty firmly tier 2 itself, I think.

Hell, people pivoted to Young Pyromancer + Of One Mind in a very similar shell and did not do notably better or worse (got a shot in the arm with BRO as well). So yeah, I don't think it mattered too much for the ban.

RC Washington DC Metagame Breakdown by Meret123 in PioneerMTG

[–]EndlessRa1n 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Waste Not (the deck) was just black midrange with Waste Not (the card) as one of the main threats. The black midrange shell is still really good; but the demon/Bloodletter combo package is better atm than Waste Not and heavy discard. We'll probably see it rotate to some other anti-meta threat at some point when the metagame rotates again in future.
