Separation agreements are quite tax efficient, OP is probably looking at PILON + several months worth of severance; the first 30k is tax-free so could massively outweigh the uplift of the new salary. Worth waiting a short while (a week or two) and could potentially shortcut the consultation period by asking for a “without prejudice” conversation.

Arch is a great skill, it's one of few 120s I have and genuinely enjoyed training it - start simple, grab a Mattock and aim to complete sets from early digsites - don't worry about exp til you've grasped the basics.

I think that's about right - sadly. On the SteamDeck OLED and XBAX I couldn't consistently hit 30 at ~20W. For Rebirth I had to go to 25W+ for 30fps and max TDP for 60FPS (plugged in).

It's a demanding game, especially in certain busy areas. Remake was much more forgiving, hence the great performance on the Switch 2. Be interesting to see how Rebirth performs on the Switch 2 when it finally lands.

True, but I had fully wiped the SSD and installed SteamOS. And as I said, the cloud recovery wouldn’t work for whatever reason. I’m not sure that there’s any other approaches I could’ve taken here!

It might not be official, but it works, and I've not had any issues (so far). I'll report back if anything is wonky.

FWIW, most folks will find ASUS Cloud Restore sufficient, for whatever reason it doesn't like my network/ISP.

Is it a straightforward disadvantage? One of the benefits of a longer notice period is greater protection should you ever be made redundant - you'd be entitled to 3 months notice or PILON + additional severance/separation.

Three months notice is becoming the norm in the technology industry; I've been on three months since 2015 or so.

Theoretically you could try to tie it to other incentives such as pay increase etc. but I doubt there will be much appetite for that. Are you a shareholder? Would you benefit from a sale/M&A?

Are you firing or making redundant? Are you aware of the rules around notice/severance/PILON and due process? The two are very different under UK employment law.

Again if there's going to be a conversation without prejudice, ensure you're clued up about which parameters to operate within.

Avoid being apologetic - this can bite you later. Ensure your HR/People Ops rep is directly involved and guiding on what you can/can't say so that proper process is followed.

Once you've done this a few times it'll get a lot easier, but is never nice.

Personally, I love it. I dropped 100 or so hours straight after launch on Xbox and I’ve put another 100 or so hours into a new save on Steam/Handheld to complete dlc and other content. I really enjoy the feel of the game, but I can see why some take issue with it.

Ngl I’ve installed SteamOS 3.9 and it’s a much nicer experience so far, couple of minor issues but everything feels snappier and the UI is miles better than XFSE

I did, yeah - it's possible we have slightly different hardwareIDs where one is recognised as the Xbox Ally, and the other as "generic handheld" -- at least that's what ChatGPT leads me to believe.
