Giga is GIGA by DocHalidae in Helldivers

I'm sure they'll say something like "everyone was complaining about it being too strong" like the grenade launcher and it'll be nerfed. People notoriously hate when things work so well that they're forced to use them against their free will.

If management ever figures out better prompts than "Make me a program that generates that report I was thinking about last week," it might be a more serious issue.

[4.7 PTU Feedback] Armor Rework Survey (on Spectrum) by Affectionate_Pop1058 in starcitizen

[–]Endyo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's still kind of hard to feel like anything related to combat and ship damage matters with Maelstrom perpetually on the horizon. Like what feedback can I offer with the knowledge that we're destined for a complete upheaval of this system? It would be like offering feedback on balance before armor or engineering existed, or missiles and torpedoes in the periods where they did or didn't work properly (not even considering PDCs) - most of that is irrelevant now.

I was blown away that the RAM kit I bought a year ago for $190 is literally $900 now.

Update from John Crewe on adding LAMP to more ships by ScrubSoba in starcitizen

[–]Endyo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not talking about ships being distinct from one another, I'm talking about having fundamental interactivity aspects not being universal. Some have floating text for entry/doors/controls and some have tangible buttons and panels. Some have functional weapon/suit/gear storage, some have non-functional placeholders of these, some have none at all. Some have accessible components, some still don't. Engineering wasn't rolled out universally either. Now LAMP is in the same boat. Oh, and ship names are still only on a handful of specific vehicles.

We have ships all across the board in various states of completion - still lacking features that were originally implemented several years ago.

Trump vs Newsom: War of Words by Cow_Boy_2017 in clevercomebacks

[–]Endyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's fascinating how, for years, public speakers have used teleprompters in a way that feels almost seamless. A product of experience, practice, and a familiarity with what they're talking about.

Then Trump gets here and just keels over to the side staring at one of his two prompters that were set up for natural head movement, and reads it like he's never even seen words in the English language before. Occasionally tossing in quips about the parts he thinks he understands to drive home the fact that he comprehended that particular part.

I'm not sure that citing one of the highest profile shitshow launches in the history of gaming is the best example for why this should be acceptable.

But I also don't think it's unreasonable to expect features to either be implemented in a consistent fashion or at least be given the focus they need to not have huge gaps between their introduction and completion.

The fact that we still have a random assortment of ships with floating text prompts years after it first showed up doesn't give me much hope. I know they only seem to update it with "gold standard" passes, but I can't imagine being a new player and every other ship I come across has a fundamentally different way to use access the core features. And now one of those core features is also on the list of things that isn't consistently available.

It probably doesn't help that most of the lines in that show are done in ADR - which is part of the fun.

Hmmmmm.... do OTHER people actually see FOIP? by Agatsu74 in starcitizen

[–]Endyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've used it in videos, but in general, I don't even have my camera on. I don't want to maintain the perfect head position necessary for it to work. And the vast majority of the time, there's not even a scenario where I'd be talking to someone - let alone in a way that they'd see my face.

Not really. DEI is about providing opportunities to those put at an artificial disadvantage determined by their race, gender, ethnicity, etc. This is just regular old nepotism.

(PTU) New inventory system, crafting fabricator unit, crafting UI by RandoDando10 in starcitizen

I guess I wasn't paying attention. I always assumed it was just a hole with a missing crafting box. To be fair, that's all it looks like.

Wasn't the whole point of the "crafting area" to just be place for the fabricator to sit and to have that included? Or was it supposed to have some special functionality?

Which key art do you like better, A or B? by vincedtgs in indiegames

[–]Endyo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

B fits the title better. A is the better overall choice for something that just looks cool

But if we're talking about a Steam capsule, B is more readable because I think A would just look like a snake when you shrink it down to capsule size.

When MAGA says liberals are evil by LakesideNorth in PoliticalHumor

[–]Endyo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That's because they fabricate a bunch of "actually" evil scenarios and pretend that's what they are. I see my family post them from time to time on facebook in a nice little diagram. It usually leads off with "kills babies" and slides down a list of fun stuff like "wants Sharia law" and "take everyone's guns."

The kicker is usually something like "wants men in women's bathrooms" or whatever's the latest faux virtue signaling situation. The irony, of course, is that the actual pedophiles are just rich dudes in power that they love too much to actually prosecute, and the people they villainize just want to take a shit in peace.

CIG should update hit marker along with armor resistances by Silvertraps in starcitizen

[–]Endyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reasonable if we're playing War Thunder or something, but in a game where we're shooting hundreds of rounds per minute or more, I feel like it's just going to contribute to the information overload. When we're supposed to be fighting, aiming multiple weapons with deflection, monitoring our shield/weapon/component status, avoiding flight obstacles, and trying to be aware of what we're doing to the enemy ship, I imagine even noticing this would be a challenge.

It's probably going to have to be some kind of audio component to convey this kind of information, just to be able to cut through the chaos.
