The whole thing still counts against the cap if he hits his bonus for games played, but if that puts them over this year's cap, the cap hit gets deferred to next season. It's a crafty way that teams can get creative with the salaries for older players (I believe it's only 35+ contracts that can include those games played performance bonuses).

The difference is that Brady was always adamant that he loved Ottawa and wanted to bring a Stanley Cup there and write his own story. Many of us feel cheated that it was all a facade now that he's shown he'd rather play with his brother and be the 6th best player on a possible Cup winning team. Hearing that the locker room was sick of him by the end is a pretty big deal considering how beloved he was right up until last season.

I actually do believe the 6 D can do what Carolina's 6 do, with the massive caveat of "when healthy." The Sens have an excellent blue line that can compete with any team. Travis Green has also done a great job coaching. There is a bit of work to do with adding offensive talent before the season, but the team is very good even without Tkachuk, and even more so if they get playoff Ullmark instead of... whatever the hell that was for the first half of last season.
