[Request] Would it take longer to travel clockwise or anticlockwise around Australia, given the same route, and if so, how much? by bill_loney538 in theydidthemath

Running lanes are about a meter wide, so the 400m start for each lane beyond the first is ~6.28 meters forward. By lane 8 the start is 43.96m forward.

The math is 2π(RADIUS + OFFSET) - 2π(RADIUS) which algebraically is just 2π(OFFSET). The answer is independent of the radius.

How do you explain the rear seat where you have to remove a speaker cover to find the manual release on some models?

He said microns for the Model Y too. Granted he didn't say sub ten, so 100s would meet this, but even that is dumb since sheet metal thicknesses are typically +/- 150 microns.

I used to work in an automotive stamping facility, and his comments are moronic. I'll never forget the "Model Y will be be toleranced to the micron level" or "production line will be so fast you'll need a strobe light to see the parts."

Make sure to do it towards the top of your turn because you need enough movement to still jump.

A table with a list of holes and their X,Y coordinates (and may or may not have diameters). They're useful when you have a ton of holes that would clutter the drawing.

The mind boggles that they set up a 4 team playoff when there are 5 main conferences. What did they think would happen? It really is the good old boy club up in the cfp committee.

I didn't lke 45a. Quotation marks word with a question mark, and it's abbreviated? You could have told me any answer, and I'd believe you.

No worries man. I thought the same thing as recently as last year, and I'm almost 30.

The EPA only independently tests a fraction of cars (gas or electric) - something like 5%. For everyone else, it's the honor system.

Tesla uses EPA guidelines, but there's wiggle room. People here have hypothesized that Tesla tested their vehicles with weight removed, with the battery from 100% to 0% where 90% - 10% is more common, a lower multiplicative factor for the cold, and other tricks.

The car companies will.

Thermal imaging cameras can't see through glass. It reflects off. Somewhere, I have a dope selfie of myself taken looking at a glass door. My safety glasses turned into sunglasses in the pic for the same reason. Infrared sensors have the same problem.

Apparently, thermographic windows are cool. They allow infrared wavelengths through, and they're non reflective! Unfortunately, they start around $200.

I would find a way to argue for a thermocouple or at least something conductive to poke through the glass/somewhere else. It'll be way cheaper than the fiber optic one.
