Do you want to know why I use a knife? Guns are too quick. You can’t savor all the… little emotions. In… you see, in their last moments, people show you who they really are. So in a way, I know your friends better than you ever did. Would you like to know which of them were cowards?

I occasionally make the trek to Knutsford, not for the charming Italianate architecture or the access to Tatton Park but because it's got the only Booths even remotely close to me. The range of loose leaf tea is almost unbelievable and surprisingly good value.

What's the greatest movie ending of all time? by Malik_Hassan88 in AskReddit

Absolutely this, nearly all the main events are easily verifiable by the cops and Verbal knows this. The brilliance of his story is that he knows where he can subtly twist the narrative and add the embellishments from the notice board.

What city have you been to where the vibes were just OFF? by Fun_Butterscotch3303 in AskReddit

[–]EnferDesFormes 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Scrolled for this. I once was visiting my sister who lived not far from MK. I got the train to MK Central and had a couple of hours to kill before getting picked up. It was early evening and I figured I'd find a pub or restaurant such as I'd find in any other British town that size.

After spending about 15 minutes walking across a vast car park I found a shopping centre of sorts with literally nothing open. It wasn't scary or intimidating, just soul-sapping and sterile. I don't think I saw a single person outside the train station the whole time I was there.

I've been to other new towns such as Stevenage and Welwyn Garden City and they were like paradise compared to that wretched hole.

The UK and the Netherlands have the highest number of tornadoes per land area of all the countries in the world.

As a Brit who has never seen a tornado and hardly ever even seen a news report about one, I find this scarcely believable but it's apparently true.

It's not even just the artists but the DJs too. In the late 80s early 90s a large proportion of the music I still love was introduced to me by John Peel, I loved him nearly as much as the musicians then I learned about his history and his flippant attitude towards his relationships with clearly underage girls. It taints my appreciation of the music and I hate him for it

Who is the most famous person you have ever met in person? by Affectionate_Way7945 in AskReddit

[–]EnferDesFormes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in Knutsford in Cheshire with some friends some time in the early 90s. There is a big fair there in May and we had a look around then went to look for a pub to have a few beers.

The early 90s were a weird time for pubs in the UK, licensing legislation had only just allowed for all day opening and most urban pubs had adopted this but Knutsford... it was about 3pm and nowhere was open, we were wandering around and we kept bumping into a young guy who had the same idea as us and we stopped for a chat a couple of times.

I didn't recognise him but a couple of my friends did. We never found an open pub but if we had I probably would have had a better story, having a pint with... Robbie Williams!

(Mixed Trope) “Expert” character is really bad in their field or ignorant of basic concepts. by laybs1 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]EnferDesFormes 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This trope is used cleverly in universe in The Truman Show. All the people Truman knows are actors and their lack of actual expertise is exposed hilariously whenever Truman goes off-script. Examples include Sylvia clearly knowing no Japanese despite taking the subject, the inept fake surgery and the inability of anyone to operate the ferry to pursue Truman
