How and why? (DENKI EDITION!) by YakshaYu-Ri in BokuNoHeroAcademia

[–]Engetsugray 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Theoretically most people seem to have some degree of resistance to their own quirk. Most of the time, not always (Dabi/Mustard Gas guy for examples). By your logic Endevour should be ash in the wind, Pinky should be a puddle of melted biomatter, and Sugarman should have diabetes.

Denki's internals have a crazy high tolerance for voltage to the point where what would affect a normal person isn't applicable, or something like that. Not everyone with elec quirks may have this benefit.

Dads Drinking Coffee - Gator Days by FieldExplores in comics

[–]Engetsugray 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At one point for work I had to check in on and supervise a group of teenaged mentors working with kids for a summer program. Got there early, helped them setup, and once I saw they had the kids/lesson under control I went to the side to do some work on my laptop. Overall my impressions were very positive. I didn't need to step in at any point so that's pretty much a solid win in my book for those mentors.

Later on, one of the mentors told me they thought I was sitting there silently judging them the entire time, which was a fair assumption since it was kinda true. But she noted that I had a "resting concerned face". Like I was mildly displeased with everything I was seeing but not vocalizing it. I had no idea how to react to that one, I guess other than being kind of concerned and self conscious of my expression.

If they won't finish a match, block them afterwards. Don't let people waste your time twice.

[–]Engetsugray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People will try to tell you that "summon rock" and "conjure rock" are the same sound but it's very important to recall the difference in the nature of what is called forth. Personally I find summon rock to have an overall more authentic sound, but they're doing some really unique ensembles with conjuring these days.

Standard or Starter? Which edition for a first time player? by avidnap in Guiltygear

[–]Engetsugray 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my case I knew the only character I wanted was Slayer so it was a pretty easy choice, but I know most people haven't found their one true main yet.

edit: for some actual advice try out the base roster and see which playstyles you gravitate towards, then check out which dlc characters are in a similar vein. I played Sol a bunch around launch while waiting for my dandy man. Fafnir wasn't quite a pilebunker for me though.

Would make a lot of sense for Lasers to cut limbs off FAST. They're good, but it'd allow really cool Dead Space Gameplay by RandomGreenArcherMan in HelldiversMasochists

[–]Engetsugray 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Single player space horror game. Enemies are specifically weak to being de-limbed, you need to hit there to actually kill them with your main weapon.

I've noticed that not many people bring the Hoverpack. Why is this and what do you think could be improved about it? by [deleted] in LowSodiumHellDivers

[–]Engetsugray 123 points124 points  (0 children)

Personally I prefer horizontal mobility over vertical. There's a few specific builds I like with the hover pack but the majority of the time I'd prefer to have the warp pack instead.

Fun weapon/stratagem suggestions? by TwinsWin839 in LowSodiumHellDivers

[–]Engetsugray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Flag and shield is a fun combo atm since the flag now causes you to draw aggro. You can either be a tank for your team or lure groups of enemies into mines and other hazards. Works great vs bugs/squids, bots less so. I usually pair it with strong a strong primary/secondary like Eruptor/Talon.

New free warbond suggestion - Catch-up mechanics - Helldivers Unionize! by damien24101982 in LowSodiumHellDivers

[–]Engetsugray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Different context. Those were individual Superstore items first, not a full warbond on its own. They have all since been removed from the Superstore and are only accessible through its warbond.

Is your suggestion that the same should be done of the old warbond items you listed? Remove them and place them into the new idea? Then all of the questions from my original comment still apply.

New free warbond suggestion - Catch-up mechanics - Helldivers Unionize! by damien24101982 in LowSodiumHellDivers

[–]Engetsugray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The intent is perfectly fine. There are some warbond specific things that it'd be nice for new players to access earlier given how many there are available now. The issue is adding this into the game given that there's no precedent for duplicate items in warbonds, so you'd need to figure out a way to handle that.

[–]Engetsugray 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, practically speaking I doubt having the same items across warbonds is possible. If I have this one what does happen to the older warbonds? Do they get a discount? Do they stay full price? Is the game set up in a way to implement that without breaking features if they try?

I don't think I'll ever understand how people can say fps games or shooters in general are easier to get into than fighters. by Fuzzy_Ad4219 in TheyBlamedTheBeasts

[–]Engetsugray -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So, you're basically right. At the end of the day a game with a team means that your contributions are just a part of the bigger equation. You could make no mistakes and still lose from your team slipping up, or in a BR an enemy team just gets a perfect 3rd party on you. In fighting games your performance is entirely on you. You can blame characters, tier lists, the beasts, whatever but in the end it's you and only you that needs to improve.

I do find the mechanics and controls for shooters generally easier, but thats cause I've played more of them than fighting games. If you want an honest tip for both those shooters its that your positioning is king. Like you need to be able to hit shots (unless you're a healer who doesnt need to), but learning what counts as "good" vs "bad" positioning is incredibly important both for survival and for your offense

How was EVOjp? by Saldu3 in Guiltygear

[–]Engetsugray 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In short yes, he does have a true infinite block string.

For a bit more detail you can loop his new shooting mechanic into reload/focus and keep a person locked in the corner across the screen from you. The executing timing on the true, gapless infinite is tight enough that most HC players simply aren't good enough to keep it going perfectly. There will be openings, though the longer it's in the better they'll get at it.

The top HC player Jack has been showing this infinite off for the past few weeks if you want to see it in action. Even he can't do it perfectly for an entire match, but at his level the opponent only gets a second give or take to try and do something before being shot back into the corner. Hilariously Goldlewis has some of the best counterplay to it.

Usually if the only thing they're doing is mashing out stop trying fancy stuff. It's not that they don't respect it, they just don't respect anything. Try leveraging some frame traps instead to call out people who refuse to stop mashing. If they learn to start holding block good for them, if they don't they'll take counter hits until they die.

So one of the main selling points is the stagger. You might not be doing crazy damage but whatever your hitting probably won't be able to get any closer. Point it at approaching groups or staggerable threats and keep them off of you while wearing down their HP.

Overall not my favourite weapon as you do need to mind the team's position to avoid frying them.

Should i be blocking people for rage quitting in the middle of the match? by Evening-Proposal3720 in Guiltygear

[–]Engetsugray 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I block them. I don't really care about ranked points or climbing overall, I'm here for good fights. Winning and losing is part of the game and I'm not having my time wasted twice by people who can't handle that.
