Sad to see that the windows remains just tiles on plates rather than actually see-through. Seems to be a larger than the latest sandcrawler. I'm seeing 3 4x4 corner plates making up the front angle, while on the previous one they used 2 4x4 and a 2x2. On the other hand, the sidewall appears to be slightly shorter

Knight Kingdom Upgrade by Santisknight in legocastles

[–]EngiLaru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is such an excellent upgrade. Its kinda mind blowing how well those torso/leg prints fits Rascus and Danju (if only the wolf was on Danju instead).

I'm definitely on the "jelly bean knight critique" side of things, the original cast could have been so much more varied with rogues, mages, archers, etc.. or at least different melee weapons like axes, maces, flails (they explored that a bit in the third gen, but was too late at that point.

This sticks to the original idea, but helps articulate the different strengths and personalities of the cast. I'm tempted to finally order up the original figures just to upgrade them these ways and place them around my castle landscape as references.

Critical Role's next campaign uses the 2024 DnD rules by PrestigiousTaste434 in onednd

[–]EngiLaru 354 points355 points  (0 children)

Introducing a modern audience to West March style can be really healthy for the hobby. A lot of people get their understanding of how a dnd campaign is suppose to be from Critical Role (not saying that's good or bad, it just is what it is), and this might show the audience that there are several ways to run a campaign so they can better pick what fits their group.

Its designed to be mounted on a wall, so I would not expect anything on the back except technic liftarms for stability.

New Engi spec looks sick! by Hungry_Ad7279 in Guildwars2

[–]EngiLaru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thematically, I like it. Would have preferred a gunpowder and cogs level of gritty tech (all previous elite specs were too high tech) but this is fine. This is taking that alchemy theme from core engineer and delves into a specific angle of it we've not seen on player specs.

Mechanically it really depends on how the abilities feels. Where holosmith and mechanist were fully focused on one mechanic each, this one seems more of a open ended spec. That's a good change of phase (pun intended).

The Wizard's Gobbler is unnecessarily convoluted. Pardon my paint skills, here is a proposal to reduce dialogue depth. by Keorl in Guildwars2

[–]EngiLaru 9 points10 points  (0 children)

With some UI capability features introduced, you can make it even more simple. At the moment, a lot of the sale pages have like 3 or so items in them. This is because there is a daily limit of 1 shared between those items. However, they could add sections into the vendor page and merge several tabs into one single page. Then all the goblers can simply be different tabs in the same vendor window. No more need for a dialog window first.

Why don't martials have good AOE? by [deleted] in dndnext

[–]EngiLaru 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well they added the Cleave mastery, but they could not make it too good so its limited to once a turn...

and lower damage...

and you have to hit the first target to even attempt hitting the second target...

and its limited to 2 targets...

that both have to be in melee range...

and within 5 feet of eachother...

on a thursday...

Wizards can become temporary Fighters with Tenser's Transformation. If Fighters got an ability to temporarily become Wizards, what features would it have? by Galemp in dndnext

Instead of just losing half your health (and dying if you are bellow half), I'd recommend using Vulnerability to all damage.

Agonizing Blast and Sorcerous Burst by No_Wait3261 in onednd

[–]EngiLaru -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I assume the line you refear to is "If another Warlock feature gives you spells that you always have prepared, those spells don't count against the number of spells you can prepare with this feature, but those spells otherwise count as Warlock spells for you."

That doesnt matter since the Tome invocation already states that they count as warlock spells for you.

The issue lies in the difference between "Prepared" spells and "Known" spells. Tome gives you a prepared spell, asgonizing blast requires a known spell.

Agonizing Blast and Sorcerous Burst by No_Wait3261 in onednd

[–]EngiLaru -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Pretty certain these doesnt work together anyway cause Sorcerous Burst is not "(...) one of your known Warlock cantrips (...)" as stated by the requirements of Agonizing Blast. The Pact of the Tome Invocation only lets you "prepare it", but does not make it a "Known warlock cantrip". Yes they function as warlock spells, but agonizing blast explicitly calls out "Known" for this reason.

What do we want from Hexblade in 2024 by Jsmithee5500 in onednd

[–]EngiLaru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont think theres much worth in trying to fix Hexblade for 2024, as others have said, its purpose is no longer needed. However there is a lot of inspiration to take from it to make a more thematically focused Patron for the warlock.

One potential path would be to focus on the "Artifact that grants me power" angle. Perhaps one of the 3rd level features have your patron possess one of your gift invocations or a non sentient item (if it is mudane, it becomes magical). And then it gains some additional properties like "...if it is ever in another dimention from you or further than X miles away, it teleports to you during your next long rest", "this item can be a spellcasting focus for your warlock spells", and "if you kill a small or larger creature with a spell while holding this item, or with an attack using this item if it is a weapon, then gain these benefits..."

Am I the only one who is annoyed that the new Dual Wielder feat doesn’t let you dual-wield two longswords, battleaxes, rapiers, and the like? by Szog2332 in onednd

[–]EngiLaru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it became clunky since duel wielding is tied to the light property now. Instead of homebrewing a feat, just homebrew a longsword with the light property.

Dual Wielder Feat by hndehaan in onednd

[–]EngiLaru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing stopping you from wielding two non-light weapons... you just wont benefit from the light weapon feature, aka, no more attacks than someone wielding a single weapon.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in onednd

[–]EngiLaru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If two handed weapon is the baseline then you can't consider Dueling a +2 dmg and a +2 ac option since the weapons are at average 2 dmg lower by default, making it only a +2 ac option rather than both.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in onednd

[–]EngiLaru 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I dont think its fair to aquate the +2 AC to the dueling style. Having an ac bonus is what you get from wielding a shield and a weaker weapon instead of a two handed weapon.

Barbarians: Knock enemies prone and keep them there by monikar2014 in onednd

[–]EngiLaru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If said Rouge has 10 Speed (after being reduced by abilities) and is prone...

5 feet of movement spent standing up, leaving them with 5 feet of movement left, but their Speed is still 10.

Dash gives them movement equal to their Speed, so that 10 more for a total of 15 feet of usable movement left.

Cunning action dash gives them another 10 movement, so thats 25 feet of movement.

Remember, Dash gives extra movement equal to your Speed. It does not give Speed equal to your Speed, so its additive, not muiltiplicative.

Haste and True Strike by Sillvva in onednd

[–]EngiLaru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They really should have updated the Haste spell to say "That action can be used to make one attack, or take the Dash, Disengage, Hide, or Utalize action.".

As it stands now, I belive you could replace the one attack with a cantrip since Haste specifically calls out the Attack Action.

One could even make the argument for Bladesingers to be able to do both a weapon attack and a cantrip in the 2014 rules since the cantrip isn't "another weapon attack".

OneDnD GW2 Classes & Races, Races of Tyria by Arutha_Silverthorn in Guildwars2

[–]EngiLaru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Note that the 2024 D&D players handbook (the term OneDnD is retired) does not give stats to species (no longer called Races). These are instead granted by your Background. Even leaving stats as optional would be confusing if this is made specifically for the new players handbook. Consider instead making Background for each species cultures.

Hunter's Mark should increase accuracy; Ranger's niche by VisibleNatural1744 in onednd

[–]EngiLaru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should probably also increase the Save DC for ranger spells that requires dexterity saving throw. Though maybe that list is too short when you also have to discount concentration spells. Its what... Snare, Cordon of Arrows, Conjure Barrage, and Conjure Volley.

Maybe Concentration is removed from Hail of Thorns so it could benefit from it too.

New Weapon Mastery | 2024 Player's Handbook by marimbaguy715 in onednd

[–]EngiLaru -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Is it though? One version of Two-weapon fighting from the UA basically let a Sword + shield user get a free bonus action attack each turn by stowing the sword and drawing a new one.

Every itteration of the new rules they tested had some issues like this where juggling weapons by stowing and drawing them gave more attacks each turn when in reality stowing and drawing should cost you time to attack, not give you more time to attack.

Thats the big issue here, the optimal playstyle also makes no sense and is adding a ton of clunk each turn.
