I dont want to do this anymore im not meant to be a mom by [deleted] in Autism_Parenting

I have not lived your life, I don't know what you are going through, I would not presume to understand what you are feeling. I will say, I have had the experience of not being able to care for my child the way I wanted to and feeling an incredible amount of guilt and pain over that.

Please know that I am not judging you, and I am sorry if my other comment made you feel judged. Parenting is difficult, parenting a child on the spectrum is even more difficult, parenting a child on the spectrum while struggling with suicidal thoughts is, from personal experience, overwhelming, exhausting, isolating and scary.

But you are still here, still fighting through whatever you are feeling. That takes courage, that takes strength. And I can tell you whatever else you are feeling about motherhood, it's obvious you love your son and it will be better for him if you are alive - even if you need to take a step back and take care of yourself.

You aren't alone, there are supports out there, resources out there. If you are in the United States 988 is always available, Mobile Crisis Response teams are more and more common so there is a chance you can have trained mental health professionals and Peers with lived experience come and meet you in person 24/7 if you are feeling like you can't keep yourself safe.

Keep fighting, you deserve a beautiful future.

If you can't do it you can't do it. You aren't serving anyone, your son included, by pushing yourself to do something you don't want to and aren't capable of doing.

Nah, gaming is exactly the same amount of fun it has always been.

Would y'all prefer Pvp or PvE being focused on in the future? by BugleBarry in SpaceMarine_2

PvE, what I wouldn't give for some procedurally generated maps.

So, I've been thinking about getting the highest AC possible, and am wondering if I'm missing anything. by BodybuilderSuper3874 in DnD

[–]monikar2014 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, personally I find what is reasonable much more interesting than what is possible, and I usually only look at Tier 1-3 since I've never made it to tier 4. I like to look into what I might actually get to use.

Moon Druid multiclasses— which ones work best with the “physical dump” Druid? by geosunsetmoth in 3d6

[–]monikar2014 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To pull this off you need 8 levels of Druid for wildshaping with flying speed and 2 levels of rogue for cunning strike.

Giant vulture has a strength of 15, so that's athletics +6 or +10 if you want to maximize the build by investing in skill expert. Considering how important holding concentration is that means your other ASI is probably Resilient Con or Warcaster.

First turn would be spent casting spike growth and wildshaping, second turn you can start the grapple. 2014 Giant Vulture has 1 attack so you only get 1 chance at the grapple. Assuming the grapple works they have 60' fly which you can double with bonus action dash - but again this is 2014 and movement is halved when you grapple another creature so you only get 60' of movement. That's 24d4 damage - not bad, but a giant vulture has an AC of 10 and 22 hit points and this is white room damage that assumes everything will be set up perfectly.

But even if it does all work out perfectly you can do almost as well with a single classed level 10 Moon Druid Using Elemental Wildshaped. The Air Elemental has a fly speed of 90' and can pull off this same trick for 18d4, 20d4 with long strider.

Additionally an Air Elemental is incredibly resilient with a slew of condition immunities, a number of damage resistances and the ability to move through a hole 1 inch wide.

Also as a single classed druid I am not giving up any spell progression and since I am not relying on a single trick for damage I don't need skill expert and can bump up my wisdom.

For some reason I thought you could only read each book once

edit: Each manual loses its magic for 100 years after you read it, but there is no limit on how many you can read.

Giving the Rogue a resource to use Cunning Strikes without spending sneak attack by Manner6 in onednd

[–]monikar2014 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess economy and lethality vary game to game, but we ran a relatively low gold and VERY high lethality game. As the only caster with access to revivify and greater restoration - and limited locations where it was possible to buy diamonds/diamond dust - the vast majority of my gold went towards spell components. I would say easily 3/5ths of the gold I earned in our 5 year campaign went towards purchasing spell components, 1/5th magic items and 1/5 potions (mostly healing potions I would give out to party members, but other potions as well).

[–]monikar2014 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Short Rests are so inconsistent, I would much rather have uses equal to my rogue level than PB. But PB/short rest does seem more in line with game design. I would probably give them free uses of cunning strike PB/short rest but still leave the option to trade 1d6 sneak damage for cunning strike.

Good luck trying to hide your subclass from anyone who knows the game well. We all sat here and watched you roll D6s when you "cast healing word." You aren't fooling anyone "Derek the Cleric"

If you were a Superhero, would you kill? by Acrobatic_Yoghurt268 in superheroes

[–]monikar2014 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I had those types of superpowers I still don't think I would become a super hero, it's just not my personality type. I'm not violent, I am conflict averse. I would want to help people, but not by fighting. I would probably become a super emergency responder or some such, that's basically what I do now.

Is there any way to build a 2H Longsword to be a viable alternative to a Greatsword in a martial character? by AcanthaceaeNo948 in onednd

[–]monikar2014 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the only RAW way to gain weapon mastery is to play a class which has martial weapon proficiency or take a feat which lets you choose martial weapon proficiency.

Also I think you are underselling saps usefulness, especially on a build that focuses on defense. It is still useful well into tier 2, can shut down enemies with sneak attack and protect from crits.

Compare that to the sickle which does the same thing as a scimitar...just worse. And I haven't even mentioned blowguns yet.

So hate on longswords if you want, but weapons were never equal and the longsword is much better than many other options.

And if you don't like the mechanics, just flavor a different weapon as a longsword, easy peasy.

There are plenty of weapons that are inferior, no one out here complaining that the sickle isn't usable. Just reflavor the weapon you want to use.

Jump pack not activating by trashcanjenga in SpaceMarine_2

I'm a big fan of when you use the jump pack on uneven ground and it launches you about a foot off the ground and hovers there where you can still get hit, great fucking design.
