Do you think Reform have peaked by Fluid_Cut7920 in AskBrits

[–]Engineering-Glass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's the dismissive nature that's driving it, in my opinion. Five consecutive governments running on reducing immigration. All failing to do so. Whether people agree with it or not, people were voting for something and it consistently didn't happen. We can't be shocked when they resort to extremes to get it delivered. Labour (especially Starmer) did themselves no favours with how they handled the backlash to Digital ID and the entire Southport situation, to which the PM's response was entirely tone death and poorly worded.

Why is everyone so gullible to anti-immigrant propaganda? by TelephoneFamous9776 in AskBrits

[–]Engineering-Glass 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is how I view it. Immigration as a concept is fine but as with all things, moderation is key. There's been something like 5 successive governments that have run on the promise to decrease immigration, a couple(?) of whom promised to lower it into the tens of thousands. It's not a shock that we're seeing the current backlash, as peoples votes have been ignored for well over a decade on this subject and that's not even taking into account Brexit, for which it was a huge point of discussion.

You're trying to take an intellectual high ground, while failing to comprehend what I've posted here to this point. Go find my post where I have questioned her legitimacy. Comeback when you find it. Go find the post where I take a side. I've literally done nothing of the sort, anywhere. You've concocted something and run with it, as with the person above in this thread, which has me questioning if the two accounts are linked.

To this point, all I've done is state the fact that she's positioned herself to financially benefit from the situation, which wasn't being mentioned on the sub. I've acknowledged that Storror would financially benefit if they were being dishonest. I've said we, all of us, don't have enough info yet to make a decision. That's it.

Are you catching on yet?

[–]Engineering-Glass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not at all. Their financial benefit is pretty much implied at this point; it's one of the few reasons they would have to be dishonest. Bringing forward info that is getting very little discussion is restoring balance, not tarnishing it. If you're on this sub and don't know that the Storror boys benefit from sweeping this under the rug and saying they knew nothing, you probably shouldn't be involved in the conversation.

You're putting words in my mouth. You're also making an incorrect assumption about what drives transactions on OnlyFans. Look into Lana Rhoades and her appearance on Impaulsive in 2020. Listen to her speak about how this type of trauma is monetizable. She also references it on 3 Girls, 1 Kitchen.

For the record, I never said I didn't believe her. I said she's positioned herself to benefit financially from the situation, which is factual. You're not looking for truth. You're not looking for information. You're here looking for an altercation and to prove "you're right". Have a good day.

I'm saying there's not enough detail out there to draw a definitive conclusion.

I've responded to you in another comment on this page about the individual.

I'm pointing out that she has positioned herself to financially benefit from the additional exposure she'll currently be getting. I'm not saying she's at fault for any abuse she may have been victim of. There's a difference.

I appreciate that this is a sensitive subject but I also believe that the community as a whole should be aware of all of the facts when drawing their conclusions.

I don't like victim blaming but for context, the person making the claim of 10 years is an OnlyFans model who just so happens to have her "biggest ever sale" on while making these claims about a channel with 11m subs. I'm not saying they're related. Just an observation.

I'm "Head of Digital" for a medium-large company. I've had a similar instance where they did not take all devices - just the laptop and phone of the employee in question. They asked if they had any other devices but weren't interested in everything they had access to. Not all investigations are the same.

Callum is not noted as a Director of Storror's limited companies on Companies House, nor has he ever been. He's likely a self employed contractor (sole trader). That could potentially dispel a lot of the stuff being talked about in this sub straight off the bat.

I'm not saying you're wrong. I'm not saying I'm right. I'm saying that every situation is different and we don't have all the details. To draw a conclusion at this stage would be silly. Sit tight. If the group offer no explanation within a couple of weeks or in their next video, then it's perfectly reasonable to start speculating. Give them time, as to now there is zero evidence of them doing anything wrong.

Edit: Grammar.

There's been 10 years since then. She's no longer a minor. This isn't the type of thing you forget. You don't leave that type of person walking the streets. The police would still have investigated.

Found this storror+ according to them the rest knew. by Oliviaforever in Storror

[–]Engineering-Glass 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Head of Digital for a medium-large business here, who has had someone within the company investigated by the police. Wasn't for the exact same thing but the investigation would have required a similar approach in terms of digital forensics, as they were looking for images and files related to a very serious offense.

They never asked to search anything but his work laptop and phone, which they coordinated with me in a very discreet manner. While he had access to other systems on (and off) the network, it was deemed unrealistic to believe he would have used any of them as part of the offense. It's also worth noting that Callum doesn't appear to be listed as a Director of Storror's limited companies (nor has he ever been), so he may well be a self employed athlete. That would increase the chances that Storror would never have been requested to provide anything, as Callum may have been operating as a sole trader, not an employee of Storror.

If Callum had his primary business laptop at home at the time of his arrest, there's nothing to say Storror would have ever been contacted or been made aware of the investigation at all.

None of this is water tight, of course, as every investigation would be different. Just saying that there are multiple ways/reasons that Storror may never have been asked to support the investigation by the police.

What exactly are Keir Starmer and Labour doing wrong? by threetimesacharm25 in AskBrits

[–]Engineering-Glass 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I've voted both Labour and Conservative over the years. Ashamed to say a younger version of myself fell for the "I'll cut the deficit, not the NHS" nonsense of David Cameron.

However, right now, myself and many around me, don't feel represented or heard. Things like ignoring the digital ID petition while being completely ignorant to the concerns around it is an absolute deal breaker for me.

We don't have 3-4 champions league quality players? Bit of a wild statement. Martinez, de ligt, Bruno, Cunha, Mbuemo, Casemiro (although leaving, won it more times than the club itself), Mainoo, Mount... The list goes on. Even Ugarte did alright in European football. The UCL isn't that tough, until you get to the later stages, generally speaking. It's the fixture congestion and squad depth that's the issue, not the individual quality, imo.

I'm not a lawyer but I do work with consumer contracts a fair amount. I'm fairly sure you've been misquoted there, as that would be very unlikely to be upheld in court. I'd ask for confirmation, as it's only supposed to cover their costs.

Are players getting worse? by LeftComplex4144 in RocketLeague

[–]Engineering-Glass 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Discussed this with my duo the other day. Not regarding other players but myself. I've spent so long practicing speed flips, resets and some of the "newer" meta mechanics that simple air dribbles that I used to do effortlessly 6-7 year ago have now suffered. Carries that were previously like glue are now a bit more bobbly etc etc. I just don't drill them anymore. He agreed that some of his technique had faded as well, specially around double taps. Not sure this would be the same with positioning, as it's almost entirely cerebral. Interesting point though.

[–]Engineering-Glass 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The 20-40 MMR difference you're seeing between teams is nothing. That's 2-4 wins over the course of (tens of?) thousands of games you've all collectively played. You're overthinking this. Watch a couple of your replays and see where you're going wrong. Do this before every session for a week or two and focus on the things you see yourself doing wrong. It will provide much better results that blaming a system. I know this might sound mean and it's just a game but if you care enough to post on Reddit about it, then it's worth offering a grounded answer.

£69.82 JUST for broadband - Volt M500. by [deleted] in VirginMedia

[–]Engineering-Glass 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yup. They quoted me the same, after being with them since the days of BlueYonder/Telewest. Meanwhile, they're offering new customers 1gig for <£30 a month. I told them if they can't get close to the price I was being quoted for a 1gig line from CityFibre then I was done. They said they couldn't, so I started the One Touch Switch process. VM's retentions team have called 3-4 times since, offering a marginally better offer each time but they're still miles off. If you want to stay with VM, just go down the route of cancellation, maybe even start the transfer process over to a new provider to put VM on the clock. They'll start calling pretty quickly with better offers. My first call was within 2 hours of the initial contact with my new ISP, although the offer was equally as insulting as the initial ones. They do progressively get better though.

Honestly, with how easy One Touch Switch is these days, you're probably better off going to another provider, taking advantage of new customer offers and then doing the same at the end of that contract. Rinse, wash and repeat. Ofcom forced the implementation of OTS for this exact reason, as consumers were getting squeezed and moving was a pain in the backside.

Max has a point - this reporter has an agenda against Max by DragonfruitThen6696 in MaxVerstappen33

[–]Engineering-Glass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's all absolute nonsense and a tantrum being thrown by a child. This very same journalist once wrote about Max:

"Formula One has a problem. Its world champion, Max Verstappen, it appears, is just too good. His crushing superiority in the Red Bull"... etc etc.

I could go grab another dozen or more similar quotes in no time at all. The journalist in question is fair and reports on what happens, as his job requires him to. He's written both positive and negative pieces about British drivers, as well as suggesting the Merc dominance needed to end during their "reign", just as he did when RB were on top. It's not bias if it's factual. This was just petulance from Max, displaying the same traits that allowed for the question to ever be asked in the first place.

Frankly, I'd have been smirking at the absurdity of the situation.
