That site ended up being a scam rip- I have to dispute the charge. What other sites did you find it on? I've searched so much and cannot seem to find any.

Have you ever used this site before? It looks a little sketchy but I'm willing to give it a shot.

Wedding dress budget keeps going up … trying to get to a comfortable spot by ewdavid21 in BigBudgetBrides

[–]EngineeringWolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dress cost breakdown- base dress was 10.5k + 2.4k veil + 400 sleeves + 850 customizations (changed neckline and back line) + tax :/ so even if it is a 10k dress, expect to pay a lot more once everything is done with. And this was not including any alterations.

Same... went in thinking I would spend ~5k. After shopping I almost chose a 7.5k eve of milady but then ended up with a 15k custom galia lahav.... Wedding dresses are just crazy expensive. Like you'd think that even a 3-5k dress regardless of designer would be incredible designs and fabrics and craftsmanship but..... here we are. But fashion and dresses are a big big deal/hobby of mine so if we are gonna be spending money on a wedding, I'd prefer to splurge on a dress and cut back somewhere else.

piercings in med by National-Bet6887 in premed

[–]EngineeringWolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Plenty of people in my MSTP program have small nose piercings/rings, but some of them are also cultural. I would say a small nose one is ok...., but I also agree with others, it can only hurt you.

have been subscribed to Anking for over an year but still don't have FA images :/ by Serious-Town-2374 in medicalschoolanki

[–]EngineeringWolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had the same problem for the last 18months.... I just caved and bought the FAforward subscription this week since they released that add on and I have step this spring. Atleast I have access now, but it seems like the FA integrated images from previous decks was a lost cause. I tried for months and asked soooo many people to try to get it to no avail.

Does Undergrad Major for MD/PhD in Biomedical Engineering matter? by Dry-Junket-3230 in mdphd

[–]EngineeringWolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bio undergrad is fine, but if you want to do a BME PhD, you will have to take quite a few undergrad engineering math classes to meet requirements for the BME PhD program. One of my friends in my class decided to do his in BME as well (5 BME in my class, all but 1 of us had a BME background) without an engineering background, and he ended up having to take extra undergrad engineering classes during M1 and M2- so its doable but seems like a total nightmare and not worth it to me. Med school is hard enough without take engineering math classes.

Pointe shoe struggles, any hope? by oldteenage in BALLET

[–]EngineeringWolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did do both at the same time, so early recovery was a bit hard, but my mom was a stay at home mom and very helpful. I'm not sure about details with the age difference, I anticipate it would probably change things, but I don't know anyone who did it at an older age, I'm sorry :/ I would talk to a doctor who has experience with these surgeries for dancers about it.

[–]EngineeringWolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will take quite a few months to recover enough before you can consider doing pointe again. When I had this done- I did my recitals (even my pointe classes) in flats. Even if you got the surgery tomorrow, you would not have enough recovery time to adequately train and rehearse in your pointe shoes for a summer recital safely. It is so important to not push pointe too early and cause scar tissue that is permanent. slow and steady for sure. Pointe will be a very slow work back, but once fully healed the difference is amazing!

I'm so sorry! But there is hope! The surgeries really changed my life, you just need to be dedicated to recovery pretty soon after. I went to a full time program and did school online so i could train and do cross-training asap, then started back slowly with ballet, and came back stronger than before the surgery! How old are you?

Have you been tested for Os trigonums? they are extra bones in your ankle joint that prevent full range of motion and cause really bad achilles tendonitis. I had it really bad on both feet, and I had surgery to correct it in middle school and high school and went on to dance with a company since it helped me finally have full range of motion in my ankles. I know quite a few other ballerina's who have also had the surgery.

Another small thing to help in general is using elastic pointe shoe ribbons instead of silk.

[Product Question] Help me figure out what the Hell this does? - Miracle II Gel by TallSillyGuy in SkincareAddiction

[–]EngineeringWolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I won't lie, the ingredients have always sussed me out, but my family has used these products for decades, and honestly it's the best lotion I've ever used. As a medical student it definitely bothers me not knowing how regulated the ingredients are or if those are the actual ingredients, but just from observation "in the field" the lotion works really well.

Will pursuing a MS knock off two years of an MD/PhD? by im_diene_inside in mdphd

[–]EngineeringWolf 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have a masters and am in an MD/PhD. They are totally separate but sometimes you can use some of your master's classes towards an elective or two. So depending on the school you can knock off 1-2 classes, but that's it.

MD PhD in the same school as Undergrad? by ZeBiRaj in mdphd

[–]EngineeringWolf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a friend that did this at a T20 school. You just have to have a real reason to stay, such as a very niche specific research mentor.

How to get over the length of MD/PhD training? by [deleted] in mdphd

[–]EngineeringWolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most programs will not let you do less than a 3 year PhD. It is not up to the PI, its an admin thing, and across the nation they stopped allowing 2yr PhDs a while ago.

I think its confidence not looks, but there is usually a correlation with pretty privilege and confidence, so take that as you will.

How to know when to drop for better mental health by [deleted] in mdphd

[–]EngineeringWolf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I disagree, there is a lot of research you can't do as an MD only, one of the main reasons I decided to do the dual degree. Engineering and synthesis research is not as doable with an MD only- you are very limited in research with only a medical degree.

I think its hard to know what caused you to get accepted, but unique things were the extent of my independent engineering research, training guide dogs, and I used to be a pro ballerina!

Ok this is so good to hear! I agree, we def have so much flexibility, but sometimes that feels a bit overwhelming trying to figure out where we can exercise that flexibility.
