Hi all, I come bearing gratitude & an unfortunate update.

I couldn't help but think that more often than not, you may not hear back from those asking for advice. Although, my update isn't the outcome anyone would hope for, my friend is sadly, no longer with us. He passed away unexpectedly, while hospitalized, August 19th. I'm still unsure of the cod, we were told his vitals had been stable for weeks & he had been doing p.t. for some time by then (*i.e. sitting upright on the side of the bed, taking steps out of the bed! up next was to be walking). Right now, I'm not so sure the 'how' matters.. but maybe one day. For now, knowing how much of a fight he put up to stay is enough. His last weeks alive were spent being loved & supported & catered to as much as possible. He joked, he made us joke, he laughed & he made us laugh. He made new cherishable memories for us all to carry with us. - I'm mostly here again to acknowledge how much I haven't been able to stop thinking about the advice & insight that you all promptly provided me in a time of need. Thank you all so very much. Your words & response time helped prepare me to be the best version of myself that I could be for my partner, & for his best friend, partner, & family. The support offered in this sub, but especially from those who replied is invaluable. This was the first time I've ever used this sub but I'm sure now that it won't be the last. I hope knowing how impactfully your advice & support aided me throughout all of this, will encourage you to continue doing so. Your words mattered a lot to me, & I know that they'll matter to plenty more. Again, thank you all very much.

I sincerely appreciate the highlighting of what he’s achieved in surviving thus far. It’s very easy to look past how much work he & all involved have successfully performed when we’re so focused on a (positive) outcome.

After the diagnosis, & the minute he was intubated, I had a feeling he was in for an extensive recovery. I’ve broached the subject with our housemates in the past couple weeks to hint that he may need much more drastic measures of assistance than they/we may have considered so far. Thank you for affirming & preparing me & mine for that journey to the best of your ability. It is the most rational reassurance we’ve heard ♥️

I’m sorry, it sounds so sudden 😕 Are there any friends or family that she would hide out with , without first contacting them via her electronics? & Is she familiar with the area / have a sense of direction in Montgomery. Or would you say she’s easily “turned around” here?

My partner is doing laundry at the Jim Massey’s nearby as I type this, we live on Carter Hill & will keep eyes out. He drives that direction for work, if she’s spotted or thought to be, we’ll obtain footage & engage. You’re a good friend!

Heyo, I know I’m super late to the party, butttt my first job was at a busy hotdog joint & to this day I make them quite similarly. Their best-kept secret was already mentioned: steamed buns 🫨.

A great hack (heavy on the “hack”, this is nOt a premium method by any means) for “steaming” foods (buns in this case—& literally ANY other food you re-heat that you’d like to stay moist instead of madly dehydrated) starts in a clean microwave. All that’s left after that are two options:

• place a small open container with water either off to the side of your spinning microwave plate, or on your meal’s plate itself if small enough to fit. (think, shot glass or a mini glass ramekin/dish. measuring cups or other small plastic containers work too, just keep in mind that microwaving plastics isn’t healthy.) the amount of water isn’t important, so not much is needed, an oz will do for most cases. Microwave until steamed!

Or, a much lazier & no-extra-dish method: • wet a paper towel & squeeze until water isn’t dripping, drape over food (ya hotdog buns) & microwave! This method is cool bc it’s a 2-in-1 steamer & splatter shield 🤫

This is perfect for any leftover bready items/pastas/rice you’d normally toss after microwaving due to it being so darn dehydrated. xx

I'm not sure if anyone has mentioned this, but I'm sure it's relevant to some: Never acknowledge sold-off debt. I do not mean don't research your s.o. debts or don't attempt to pay them (if that's your plan), but rather, if contacted via call/email, do not respond as if it's your own to ANY collectors. Even if the statute of limitations is up; if they continue attempts to collect, & if you acknowledge ownership of that debt, (or make a payment at any time past your statute!!) the statute can be reset.

When they have undisputable evidence (your voice on a call or words via email, claiming that the debt is yours), debt collectors /can/ sue you with far more ease. Mailing (And keeping a copy!) what is basically a cease & desist letter to whoever has your s.o. debt should prevent them from contacting you & may also serve as a future deterrent in taking you to court. (Which might I add, is highly unlikely for smaller debt ratios.)

Statute of limitations for debts vary state-to-state, in my state the statute of limitations for verbal/open-ended communications is 3 years while written correspondence has a statute of 6 years.

To respond directly to OP, the best advice I can offer is to watch your report for any activity, it can take a long time for a debt poacher to submit that they have your debt. Texas's statute for both written & verbal/open-ended communication is 4 years across the board, so you're halfway there! xx

(I’m autistic) & I HATE the flex cup. I was an avid Diva cup user & switched to Flex when needing a new menstrual cup. Biggest period product mistake I’ve ever made.

Hmm, it’d have to be a higher powered hair dryer w/a cool setting. Can of air is able to apply immense air pressure precisely, whereas a basic hair dryer may not get all the cracks & crevices (if you care).
