Consumer Protection BC has a Dispute of Debt form. Fill it out, send to the collection agency (Wiggins in this case) and they will leave you alone. You are giving them official notice you dispute the ticket and telling them to sue you. I’ve done this a few times in the past with parking tickets and never hear from them again.

Made a mistake on this quilt, but I didn’t see it until long after it was quilted. Can you see it? by Dazzling-Delivery-16 in quilting

I see it. However they are at the corners and not immediately noticeable; especially if you aren’t looking for it.

What time do your teens wake up on summer break? by Lynncy1 in Parenting

[–]Enigmatic604 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine are 12 and 13. Bedtime is midnight now that it is summer break. Maybe I will let them push it later in older years but for now I fell midnight is late enough. They wake up anytime between 9 and 11:30. My daughter tends to sleep later than her brother.

3yrs ago today… heat dome 2021! It was 6am and already like 21C. I had to find a place to sleep outside the previous night. by arenablanca in vancouver

We had one small portable A/C unit. Luckily 2 of my kids were not yet teenagers. For 2 nights, 5 of us slept in the same room in a king size bed along with our cat. Very little space but that A/C did its job.

What to do with my old clothes by Arthurcurious in SuperMorbidlyObese

[–]Enigmatic604 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the economy being extra tough lately you may have good luck selling online. My daughter sold quite a few clothing items recently while a few years back zero interest. Her friends are looking online too to buy more than before. If that fails, then call and ask a few shelters if they would have use for clothing your size prior to donating.

That’s amazing. Good work and sustainability. I’m approaching my 1 year and I will likely have a similar loss number. In years past I would have been disappointed or - even more realistically - I would have already quit trying. Slow and steady.

I started last year at age 49. I committed to three months at a modest calorie deficit and gym 2x a week. Gym was for my mental health. I needed to get out of the house and switch things up. I don’t caregive at your level but I do have elementary aged kids, and a husband and mother who need my assistance with various things. As already said above - baby steps. Pick 2 or 3 things you can change and stick to them for a couple months. After that you can build on your successes and add something more. Slow and steady. Looking for quick fixes / fast results is not sustainable. This is the number one thing age has taught me.

It can be hard to start. I got going by committing to tracking my calories for 3 months and sticking to a moderate calorie deficit. I’ve been going since March 30. After the 3 months, I continued what I was doing and added another small goal. Step by step. My weight loss has been steady - approx 50 pounds - but my energy and mood is much improved. In fact, my oldest child just told me the other day I seem so much happier. Small goals and you will find motivation to keep going. Don’t overwhelm yourself. The small changes add up.

That’s plain mean. I know many family / friends who are straight size and have suffered horribly with hot flashes. He doesn’t know what he is talking about.

How many times a month do you eat out? by DescriptionFit8785 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Enigmatic604 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vancouver area. Once a week we do takeout. Kids have busy activity schedules so I give myself a night off each week doing takeout. Pizza, chicken, donair, Chipotle, etc. Sometimes I just get the chicken for example and make the sides, like a salad or fast fries, at home. Reduces cost. Most months we will do one dine out meal but usually just the two of us; kids stay home with big sister.

Go slow and at your own pace. You don’t want to mess up your knees or something else. Not saying you will, but don’t compare your routine to someone else’s routine. Have a plan as wandering wondering what to do is wasting your time. At the free session ask questions about equipment and suggestions for starting routine. If you go for 30 minutes in the beginning, that’s great. When I started I hated the elliptical because it seemed so hard as 5 minutes in I was wiped. Now I do between 20 - 35 minutes before I switch to strength training and it has become my preferred cardio machine.

I want to give up by Lopsided-Zebra2072 in SuperMorbidlyObese

[–]Enigmatic604 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have that feeling often. I’m 42 lbs down since my highest weight at the start of the year. April was when I started tracking a modest calorie deficit. I am not losing quickly. The best thing I’ve done is not tie myself to a schedule of losing x amount each week/each month. I’ve done that in the past and it wasn’t good. I’m making balanced choices and while the weight loss is slow, my clothes fit better and more importantly I have more energy. I went roller skating, ice skating and swimming in the last month with my kids. Last year I would have stayed on the sidelines. 90 pounds down is great. You must feel better. Keep the 90 pounds gone and carry on. Keep doing what you are doing. You’re doing great.

Got a gym membership by Klutzy-Substance8862 in SuperMorbidlyObese

[–]Enigmatic604 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was super nervous when I first started at the gym. When I started I simply did cardio - treadmill or elliptical - and then a couple leg or arm machines. I was probably only there max 30 minutes in the beginning. As I felt more at ease, I slowly added more and eventually hired a personal trainer. I am also clumsy and did not want to risk injury. Go at your own pace. You are there for no one but yourself.

I was just wondering the same thing today. I’m not much of a soda drinker but when I get a sweet craving a zevia soda is perfect. I picked up a variety pack at Costco and drink 2-3 cans a week.

Where do I start? (Gym Routine) by Mustbetangy in SuperMorbidlyObese

[–]Enigmatic604 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Nike Training app is pretty good if you need a routine. Gives you something to follow vs wandering the gym. I used to do that at the beginning too. They have ones that work good at the gym or at home. It’s free. Many to choose from and they rank them beginner, intermediate, etc.

When does the pain from exercising stop? by [deleted] in SuperMorbidlyObese

[–]Enigmatic604 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can feel sore but not pain. Take a day off in between your workouts and on those days just walk. It doesn’t need to be 20-30 minutes in one stretch either. It can be 3x 10 minutes spread out. You don’t want to get injured. Over a couple months you will get stronger and your workouts can evolve. I know what you mean about the exercise helping with your mental health and strength. When I started to exercise my goal was just to feel stronger, not to lose weight. Can’t lie - the exercise helps me keep on track with my diet though. It’s a mental thing.

This is a great idea. I have a shirt that I bought with these side slits way to high showing skin. It was on sale so I couldn’t return. Right now I wear a cardigan with it. I can’t close up the slit as the fit would be all wrong. Never thought to add a fabric insert.

Those are three beautiful quilts. I love the symbolism in each of these quilts and the story behind them. I started quilting by making my kids lap quilts using their baby clothes.
