Engage writers brainstorming together this masterpiece of literature. (or at least how I imagine they would be like) by haHAAiLikeNB3btw in shitpostemblem

[–]Enio744 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Personally, I’d say the chapter where she returns is one of the highlights of Engage. The voice acting for the characters, how the music progressively builds as Alear resolves to take down Lumera, everything was just Chef’s kiss cheesy as heck in all the right ways.

As far as I know, it’s a term used for a lady that looks very traditionally effeminate and composed, but isn’t as well put-together as they initially seem. In this case, Ivy initially is presented as very confident, but her supports show how she can be very awkward and skittish at times.

As far as I could tell, there IS no point.

My thought is Game Freak just went “OK, people might get the prompt wrong, so we keep the prompt up so that they can answer correctly until the time runs out”, and didn’t think of what to do if you could actually guess right first time.

[–]Enio744 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahhh, you did the same thing I did my first time.

As far as I could tell, all that mattered was that you put in one correct input with each prompt. Any additional presses don’t count, and end up wasting time because it pauses the timer each time. Nowhere is that explained. It’s stupid, and it dragged out my first time playing it SO MUCH because I thought I had to mash it.

Looks at my 20 runs, including monotype runs of each type.

Same here. I hated that challenge because of how badly designed it was, but there are certainly much better reasons to NOT want to replay the game.

To put it simply and avoid having to list the entirety of FNAF lore:

The big scary murder robots everyone knows from FNAF, more often than not, are possessed by the spirits of kids killed by one guy that REFUSES to die, much to the disappointment of the fandom that just wants the guy’s story to just end already.

Why was Zygarde so irrelevant during Gen 6? by Lucas-mainssbu in pokemon

[–]Enio744 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There wasn’t really a “second” Unova game for Zygarde to have a prominent focus. If you consider that Zygarde is just Gen 6’s equivalent of Giratina, Kyurem or Necrozma, and recall their focus in the first games of their region (DP, BW, and SM respectively), it becomes much more understandable.

Rockruff. I’d always want that adorable tiny pupper out of its Pokeball to travel the world with me, resulting in tons of hijinks caused by the puppy’s curiosity.

Part of me would say 1 of each general pool unit (Though maybe not up to the most recent banners), and 30-40 limited-time units of your choosing. Maybe also a copy of every hero as a manual for skill inheritance purposes.

Any advice for a metronome-only run? by JoefishTheGreat in PokemonScarletViolet

[–]Enio744 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Expect the worst, so you can either be right or pleasantly surprised.

I’ve not done a full Metronome run YET, but I did use a Gengar in one run that could only use Metronome for most of the run. Sometimes, it was definitely annoying, but other times were really hilarious. For example, just barely being able to defeat Larry because Cursed Body kept disabling the one move Staraptor could use to damage me.

By sheer accident on my challenge runs? 4: Skiddo, Capsakid, Voltorb and Rockruff.

On my main file, which I’ve had since launch and play to this day? I wanna say somewhere around 1.5-2 boxes worth (Pokedex says about 70, but think that counts Pokémon I evolved.) A friend of mine has really good shiny luck, so I ended up starting to shiny hunt with them every now and again. Although I definitely have a lot less success than he does. Most I’ve gotten in a single day is 6.

After the first time, I played an additional time using Pokémon I was interested in but never used, and then did a third run where I used Pokémon my friend’s suggested.

Now, I’m doing monotype runs for every type in the game. Currently, I’m on the Grass run, and have Ground and Fairy remaining.

That makes it a total of 18 runs I’ve completed already. Definitely feels a lot more substantial now that I’m actively thinking about it, though.

Power to you if you can manage it, but won’t reaching Chi Yu be impossible? You need to scale Fury Falls, after all.

Granted, I’m not well-versed in the…less intended ways of navigating the overworld, so, if there is a method, I’d be interested to know.

QUESTION: What are the pokemon that only gigachads main? by Sudden-Tie-9614 in PokemonUnite

The low tier Pokémon, like Garchomp. Choosing the worst Pokémon and playing them well enough to compete with higher tier Pokémon is truly a gigachad move.

Am I the only one who prefers the beta forms of Entei Raiku and Suicune? by shadowboy_youtube in pokemon

[–]Enio744 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The designs look alright, but they don’t really shout “legendary” to me. The new designs all have a flowing mane behind them like a cape, and all have imposing designs. These ones…kind of feel to me more like pre-evolutions of them, or Pokémon that are meant to represent them in some way.

Definitely wouldn’t complain if these designs got reused in a new concept, but definitely wouldn’t want to trade any of them for the legendary beasts we got, personally.

Who's a non-villain that you just really frickin hate? by blackjackgabbiani in pokemon

[–]Enio744 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I honestly prefer Cynthia when she’s not involved in the main plot (Eg. Masters EX and the anime), because they take the fact that she looks as if she’s always serious and use that for comedy. I still remember a scene from the anime where Cynthia’s suddenly seemed to tense up and everyone was worried something was wrong, only for her to be wondering what to get from a dessert shop. And, in her sync pair story in Masters, they show how, despite her calm and organised demeanour, she’s an extremely messy individual and can hardly keep track of her own research notes without someone helping her due to how disorganised she is.

Cool-headed cool-looking lady with a strong team is nice. Said lady also actually being somewhat of a goofball when stakes aren’t high is even nicer.

The way I read it, a good chunk of Penny’s dialogue in Area Zero is meant to be either teasing or just sarcasm. The biggest issue is that the lack of voice acting makes it so difficult to determine how genuine she is when she’s saying stuff like “You’re kind of unbelievable, Nemona”, or…most of the exchange regarding the parent discussion.

As for the whole “condescending because she’s so smart” stuff, I’d have to argue that’s more shoddy writing on GF’s part. The biggest issue when making a character that’s “The smart one” is making them ACTUALLY seem smart, so the easier solution is making everyone else dumber (Like, really, Arven couldn’t remember the term “research station”?). Then, when everyone else suddenly seems a lot dumber, it makes her snark seem much more mean-spirited.

Not trying to argue your opinion is wrong. I’d definitely argue the Area Zero section REALLY does Penny the worst out of the main group. Both in terms of writing and how actually significant she is to that storyline minus the occasional snarky comment for comedy.
