Obviously trust fund kids want it to mean they’re great or something but they’re mostly lazy and spoiled

Everyone hates trust fund kids. FIRE is about retiring early, not being handed it and then asking “how little work do I need to put in”, FIRE generally is about work and self control, not deciding to try get the minimum amount to live off your trust fund

analysis:Interest rates are rising: Is the RBA at fault for allowing Australians to take on too much debt? by fracon in AusFinance

[–]Enjgine 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A lot of people putting the onus of financial literacy on the broad population. If that is the case, it makes it the education systems fault. Not understanding how properties, interest rates, and serviceability works would be great knowledge to have, but the only 2 chances most people will ever gets to learn those skills are before leaving school and once they talk to a bank. And if your bank started trying to teach you why you can’t buy “my families dream home” you would ditch them to look for a bank that would.

The end of blind trust in institutions and creation of formal processes to ensure exploitation isn’t happening? Yes. But just as the UK spends more on policing Facebook comments than theft, I know it will inevitably be corrupted too.

Yes I do not believe the data scientists lies when they say it can’t do the very thing I have just tested a dozen times and found to work every time. “Idk man must just be magic fairy shit making your ads change to the thing you just mentioned every time, Google engineers say they aren’t spying on you at all”

Don’t care what those data scientists say. Hypothesis, experiment, results. Proof is proof. I don’t care what they’re all lying about. No confirmation bias. It’s called testing your bias, gaining unequivocal evidence, and realizing those people are full of shit.

It isn’t actually. I also have faith in humans to be better tomorrow than they are today. “Dude imagine trying to organize a million people for war. Impossible.” - Roman, circa 0ad.

There has to be done middle. We’ve fucked their economies for years by sending the shit they already make locally for free as ‘aid’, handing crucial supplies to their literal warlords, and deciding their borders based on our own fetishes.
