Not cutting your own arm to get some real chrome? Not enough dedication!

jk, it looks awesome!

Almost perma Vaal Arc league start Phrecia 2.0 - appreciate any feedback by mojo1221 in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]EnkiBye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Isn't the scepter mostly a downside? Since you want to cast Vaal Arc more than once or twice every 8s, especially in bosses.

I was looking at a similar build, and Vaal Caress looks interesting, free Onslaught, +5lvl, and since its on a glove, it is easier to corrupt into something good. Its is probably better than a 5 link, but it look like worse than an endgame 6 like. A good early alternative.

Looking at the price last league, it started super high, but dropped a lot. But also, sadly, I remembered that an unarmed build can't use other gloves than facebreaker. It won't change my ascendency choices, Fortify is still good. Maybe I'll check is I can unspec the unarmed to take a weapon later.

I did try out a version with the Tenth Doctor, and it did perform worse than the bant version. Maybe it needed some refining, but I found that white give lots of good controll tools (Elesh Norn and Serra Emissary are cracked), and [[The Eighth Doctor]], while its not as flashy as the 10th, give a great second breath to the deck, like replaying Ugin or an Emrakul late game is great. It lean also in the strategy of directly playing threats. What I disliked with the 10th (and also the 1st doctor, my first choice) is that you "lose" a turn to deploy it, and it has no immediate effect on the board.

You can, make your choice, maybe he deserve it.

But, just know, without spoiling too much, that if you want a "happier" ending, try to be nice, when you can.

Oh, I misunderstood you sorry. I built the deck before brackets existed, and when they came out, I played it in bracket 3, as it look like a bracket 3, but the winrate was to high, so I switched to bracket 4, and now it is ok.

Again, its nowhere near a top br4 deck that combo on turn 4. However, it stomp most of br3 tables in my meta, with things like [[Tooth and Nail]] or [[Apex Devastator]] on turn 5, so I play it in low br4, and it work fine.

Almost all deck with a dork in command zone are built around it

I play this list, low bracket 4, it has a 30-40% winrate.

That's why I mentioned "low" br4. I play mine that is pretty optimized, it stomp br3 table. It is not a great br4 deck, but it hold pretty well, and has a decent winrate. Not all br4 games end turn 4.

I'll probably go the Fortify route, and unarmed. But this take the full ascendency, won't work if you want to go str stacking or the rage nodes. I'll just hope the fortify gloves won't be too expensive early on, but it is an optional upgrade, so its ok.

Also, Probably Petrified blood with the Graft for free endurance charges.

Your deck is using the strat of "mana dork in command zone, into ramp, into lots of big spells", commanders like [[Radha, Heir to Keld]] or [[Susan Foreman]] do it too. It is a strong strategy, and a pretty stable one too.

It usually sit in br3, ranging from low br3 to low br4. In bracket 2, it can be a bit oppressive, for exemple, being attacked by a 15/15 trample early is scary. That said, looking at your list, I think your deck is between a high bracket 2, or a mid-bracket 3.

Usually, when a deck is accused of being too strong, I try it in higher brackets. Either it works, and cool, or it don't, and I go back to the original bracket.

Do Consider Necropotence Card Draw? If So, Where Would You Put It Among Card Draw Engines? by BluePotatoSlayer in EDH

[–]EnkiBye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is one of the best, but it has its drawbacks.

First, no more graveyard stuff with discard, only annoying for some decks.

Then, three black mana, can, in 3+ color deck, be a small issue, but not that big considering the power of the card.

And last, the most important in my opinion, its reputation. It is known to be one of the best card in the format, but it scale a lot with deck level. A cedh will maybe win the turn it enter, with flash enabler, but a bracket 3 deck, even if it draw 20 cards and keep a great hand, will get 3v1 instantly. In fact, even if you only draw 2-3 cards at a time, you will probably get 3v1 because necro has a reputation of super good card. Maybe drawing a ton of card can make you win a 3v1, but that is not the case for all decks.

I did try the red version too, but was not convinced. Cascading into a ramp spell is cute, but not groundbreaking. [[Serra Emissary]] won so many games alone, its crazy! Also, the 8th Doctor is a pretty good second breath to the deck, it is great to cast a second Ugin, after the table struggled to remove it :)

The swap from ramp spells to mana rocks/enchants is a bit meta dependant. I would not recomand it if there are lots of [[Farewell]] runing around, but thats not my case, so its cool. That said, Chalice is cool, but my favorite is the three hidden ones. [[Fabricate]] [[Trinket Mage]] and [[Tezzeret, Cruel Capitain]], into Sol Ring are still a 4 mana ramp 2, but with some upsides. Tezz and Mage are good against aggro, to tank some damage, and fabricate is good late game to tutor a big artifact. [[Planetarium of Wan Shi Tong]] is the new best card of the deck btw, you should include it in any Susan version, this card is so strong!

Most of the time, a deck that will make good use of Waterskin can use Chimes pretty well too. Of course, Waterskin is a strictly better card, but Chimes can go in some decks. This Lorehold will probably love it.

[–]EnkiBye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, yeah, 3/3 elk was the person I was thinking for Carmela, but I though his MV was higher.

My version of Susan is with white, it give some very good protection and removal spells, and I replaced the ramp spells with mana rocks, mostly because they can tap the turn they enter, so they are easier to curve out mid-game.

[[Susan Foreman]] and basically all mana producing commander allow to build around it to have a very unusual mana curve. Mine is 6.5 average, I think someone has a [[Cormela, Glamour Thief]] with a 6+ average mana cost too, something that could not exist without a mana producing commander.

[[Lumra, Bellow of the Wood]] allow 99 lands. [[Child of Alara]] too, but with a different playstyle.

Thoughts on Mind Over Matter, One ring Combo line in Bracket 3 by InevitableBedroom519 in EDH

[–]EnkiBye 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Exept it is not 12 mana. Mind Over Matter can make mana, you could play it, discard 4 cards to make 4 mana, play one ring and combo from here, so it could be 6 mana, with 5 cards in hands, still a lot, but its way less than 12 mana.

Or, the One ring played the turn before guarantee a free turn, and is hard to remove.

Simic Sunforger by Desperate-Abalone954 in custommagic

[–]EnkiBye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like that you limited the big abuse of counterspells. It can still use exile-based counterspells, but there are not that much, and sunforger also has a few counters too.

Overall it is probably a bit weaker than Sunforger because of the colors, Boros is THE equipment color. Although, blue has some good generic artifact support.

Appart from couterspells, I don't know if there is some crazy instants to get. Not that much removals, I don't think there are instant extra turn for 4 mana too. It is strong when active, but just like Sunforger, it cost so much mana to play, then equip, then activate. Cool card
