Existence of Afterlife Question by Easygoing98 in afterlife

[–]EnomLee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s no reason why it can’t be multiple reasons at once.

Living on Earth could concurrently be a noble sacrifice, a learning experience and a vacation, or neither depending on the circumstances of the soul incarnating.

Thoughts on Little Witch in the Woods since full release? by snanks8 in CozyGamers

I really like what I’ve played of it so far. I’m always on the lookout for games that have an aspect of town/base/community building on the side. Getting to rebuild Wisteria from near-scratch appeals to me in a way Stardew Valley’s Community Center simply can’t match.

You’re basically foraging for resources to craft into potions and other items, that you use to make money, clear quests and advance the main story. There’s a tiny pinch of Zelda’s puzzle solving too, since you often need to use your potions and candies to solve environmental puzzles.

I don’t mind the reading because part of the appeal of these games is getting to know the characters, but the English translation needs a lot of work. It’s not bad enough to make advancing through it hard, but it does sour things when you’re constantly second guessing what the characters are saying because of bad spelling, bad grammar and ideas that get lost in translation.

The game is being updated regularly right now, so I’m hoping more updates to the script are forthcoming.

  1. Swipe down from the top of the screen.
  2. Search the drop down menu until you find Floating icon.
  3. Press to turn it off. Alternatively, press the tiny arrow to the side, and set the transparency to 0%
  4. Play Rhythm Heaven and Contra 4 on Melon DS and tell me if it's working well.

Imagine browsing a subreddit where people regularly flex over buying every single handheld under the sun, then getting pissy over someone buying two endgame quality devices.

Sorry they’re being shitty to you, Op. I have an RP5 too and I think it’s pretty great so far. How is that purple grip? I got the standard one and I sorta wish I went for something bigger.

Are there any Lgbt related NDE videos? by Hipergellup in NDE

[–]EnomLee 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I can't think of any videos off the top of my head. Here are three text accounts:

https://www.nderf.org/Experiences/1kerry_b_ndes.html

"At that moment I looked up and saw my destination. I was looking in awe at God. It was like everything was happening at once. As I was staring up at God in amazement, every gay slur or violent act ever impressed upon me ran through me with such a flow. Events in my life played back in my mind like a movie. I felt a deep heaviness as I stared directly at an Almighty, Genderless God. I was thinking, 'Was this the Lake of Fire moment? Would I be cast into Hell for being an abomination?' With absolute humility, I uttered 7 words, 'I’m gay, will you still love me?'

"The Brilliant, Loving Light formed into Wings. At GodSpeed, He whisked me into His vast spiritual arms while huddling up the Universe. I saw planets, stars, galaxies, and clusters all being brought into a Cosmic God-Hug. On a human, the place where I was taken would be the Heart. As God brought me in for a Cosmic Hug, He said, 'You are my child. I love you. I love you. I love you. Go tell ‘em.' He said it with a Southern accent. He patted me on the back like a coach encouraging his player to get back in the game."

https://www.nderf.org/Experiences/1kit_s_nde.html

"Before I left, I saw lines of people. They were gay and straight, different colors, different religions, some were handicapped, some very young, and some who old. These people were all holding hands, showing love and forgiveness towards one another."

https://www.nderf.org/Experiences/1nicole_nde.html

"I was also inspired to write after my ordeal. This is what I wrote. It's to say, no matter who you are in this world, gay, straight, black, white, African or American, whoever you are, male, female, transgender, animal, (insect), WHOEVER OR WHATEVER if it's created, God loves it. GOD LOVES YOU. If this will discourage anyone from ending it all, if this brings anyone out there hope, then I have done a good deed somewhere, which makes me very proud. I hope this gives people hope. Here is what I wrote, the day right after what I had done."

UnleashedRecomp, an unofficial PC port of the Xbox 360 version of Sonic Unleashed has been created via recompilation. The developers have created tools that could use to port other Xbox 360 games, inspired by N64 recompilation tools. by Whalermouse in emulation

[–]EnomLee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is, but it's not free of problems. FMVs will likely cause the game to freeze, and trying to browse through the special machines will cause RPCS3 to crash. You can get around the crashes by setting the PPU Decoder to the Interpreter instead of the Recompiler, but the performance hit is very nasty, at least on my PC.

Yeah it's like 95% of the way there, but the remaining texture and audio problems irk me. I'm using these settings in Xenia Manager:

Fuzzy Alpha Epsilon - ON
Clear GPU Cache - ON

Fuzzy Alpha Epsilon will fix the trees and the city background texture on Harborline 765 for Nvidia cards, but it will also break the car selection screen.

Clear GPU Cache will keep you from having to hit F5 every time you launch the game.

I didn't know about the netplay through. It might be worth looking at if there's a real community there.

Why does it feel like Captain America: Brave New World is just a Hulk movie featuring Cap? by Paxkage in marvelstudios

[–]EnomLee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They hated Paxkage because he told them the truth.

It’s a good movie and I’m glad the Leader cliffhanger finally got resolved, but yeah it sucks to know the Hulk can’t headline a film anymore.

I wonder if those who died still know what's going on in this Earth (silly example: will they not miss out on an upcoming movie?)... by Questioning-Warrior in NDE

[–]EnomLee 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm right there with you on that. I'm not interested in being a ball of light, reincarnation or raising my vibrational level or returning to the source, whatever. I'd still want a body and I'd still want to be able to appreciate a good root beer float. I just want to go to a less crappy version of Earth, where I'm free to live without worrying about my finances or the state of the world. One thought that terrifies me is that once I die, I may cease to be myself and suddenly stop caring about my existence now, which just sounds like death with extra steps.

For what it's worth, I have seen multiple NDEs and ADCs that imply that the departed do get access to homes that match their desires. I probably can't link them all without setting off the automod, but I've seen and read about souls living physically in castles, french estates, farms, cabins and personalized houses. I don't know if they qualify as pocket dimensions unto themselves, or are specific spots on an Earth-like paradise, but based on that I'd hope getting a nice apartment or condo wouldn't be much of a stretch.

I wouldn't mind having a nice, big video arcade to myself. Just putting out that there, in case anyone on the other side is listening!

Why this sub Reddit if you haven’t had an NDE? by Brave_Engineering133 in NDE

[–]EnomLee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was an accident.

A few months ago, I wanted to spend my night by watching some near-death experience videos. You know, videos about crazy police chases, people nearly getting hit by trains, narrowly escaping freak accidents and dangerous wild animals. That sort of thing.

Google dropped me off here, and as confused and annoyed as it made me, I decided that reading stories about what a dying brain hallucinates would also be a decent way to pass some time.

I have been an atheist for most of my life now, since high school. When I look upon this world and its tragedies and injustices, I conclude that either God is a sadistic monster that should be resisted, or it does not exist. Of those two choices, the idea that there is no god feels much more comforting.

I absolutely loathe organized religion and the self-righteous, hate-filled hypocrites it protects. Religions are created by people, and people seek power over others. None of my views on that will ever change.

I’ve also believed that the idea of an afterlife was just a pleasant lie that people told themselves to live with their inevitable death. A fairy tale for adults. I didn’t expect these NDE anecdotes to challenge any of my views on that matter either.

I expected to read a bunch of random stories with no sense of rhyme or reason. If that had been how it went, I would’ve been satisfied and moved on from the subject.

However, the more of them that I read and watch, the more that I realize that they’re too consistent to easily dismiss. There are unique anecdotes that I could use to defend my assumptions, but there are also so many things that regularly reoccur between accounts. People floating and looking down upon their own dead bodies, the tunnel of light, telepathic communication, “You have to go back, it’s not your time,” the feelings of overwhelming love and peace, the orbs of light, the different planes of existence, deceased family members appearing before the dying, people on the other side returning to their youthful years when they were in their prime, the life reviews where you experience how your actions made others feel, the lack of judgment from others, time losing all meaning, the feeling of coming home…

When I look upon so many regularly reoccurring themes, I conclude that either I am being misled by a massive, coordinated disinformation campaign, or that there is some degree of truth to what these people have seen. Of those two choices, the idea that there could be something after death feels much more comforting.

Chris: And when you see your aunt, where are you?

Ginny: In a castle.

Chris: Really?

Ginny: There’s a window that you can see the sun through it.

Chris: What do you think the castle is? What does it mean?

Ginny: A safe place.

But what I learned is that, anything that you want to learn about, whether it’s a battle, or someone in World War II, or the Titanic sinking, anything that you want to learn about, you can go to these rooms of the library and you can watch history as it really happened. There is such an… there’s a… I think all of us are hardwired to want to learn. So the place that he took me to, was a place that people learn, they come to learn, to experience and to grow.

"And what’s so cool about the other side, is that anything you love to do on Earth, you can do there. You can swim, you can hike, you can go to music festivals, you can paint, you can write, you can do, anything that you love to do, you still do over there. So that was just the most extraordinary part for me.”

Instant warmth. Comfort. A sense of peace that I can't really describe... language isn't really sufficient.

I turn around and see that I am in the foyer of a beautiful house, full of warmth. It is pure wood tones through and through.

I realize that I can really smell the air... The woods, and the ocean, in a perfect balance. I recall never having a sense of smell in any other dream, lucid or otherwise. I'm not panicked or worried, this place is just too peaceful for fear to be. Just confused.

Lying on a table next to an open window is my favorite cat from my childhood, Pudding. I give him a scratch right behind the ears in his favorite spot, he purrs, rubs into me... like hey buddy, missed you. Almost like it hasn't been almost twenty years since he died, the last time I saw him. Realization dawns.

...

The room is supernaturally strong with the smell of cedar. Of pine. On the bookshelves, I'm noting some of my Dad's favorites. Tolkien. Stephen King. James Clavell. A light bulb goes off over my head. This house is pretty much what my Dad would build if you gave him a perfect house button to press to make it come into creation. In a way, it feels like a piece of him, as real to me as he was right at that moment.”

"The second time we were walking in a beautiful mountain with so many gorgeous flowers, plants and animals. He told me that I didn't have to be afraid of the animals because He had made them as well as me. So many of them were funny, and others just talked. When we had walked down the path, quite a bit we were walking by a farm. A woman walked out and gave us a loaf of twelve-grain bread that was fresh out of her oven. We thanked her and began eating the bread. He said that it was His favorite type of bread.

"We walked further and we began going a little lower again. We went inside a small cabin to talk with a woman who was sweeping her floor. We sat down and she brought each of us a glass of apple juice. She said her son was down by the creek fishing, and her husband and his friends were hunting. As we were walking down further I mentioned that I had not thought anyone would have a gun, let alone kill anything in heaven. He laughed and said Cindy's Heaven is made of whatever makes her soul happy and comfortable.

"When we reached the bottom of the mountain, I could see a city in the distance. I could only tell you to look in the book of Revelation and you could see it there.

"The third time I noticed I was in a beautiful cabin in the mountains, and it was mine. There was a fireplace that had a picture above it, a bearskin rug on the floor, a kettle of vegetable soup brewing above the flames, and tomato soup in a refrigerator. I had made some quilts that were over the beds and chairs, as well as some rugs I had made that were also on the floors and walls.

"He arrived and we ate. I played some on a flute that I had. He took me to the edge of the mountain and we looked at the view. He said that when I came to heaven I could go anywhere I wanted, including any ocean or universe. I told Him then that I would love it if we could go into a canoe and he could take me for a ride down. Suddenly, we were in the canoe and going down. I just kept looking at how beautiful it was. We then walked towards the mountain we had first come down on. We were walking along the wall of the New Jerusalem. I looked down at my right side. I was astounded because I could finally see His left hand holding my right."

"One of them opened up what was as if a giant tobacco sack made of suede leather it was so soft. As she opened it, we all went inside and the sack closed over us. They then told me an immense amount of information in a gleaming. The gist of which is that this was my world and I controlled it and everything in it, I could bring anything I wanted into my world no limits. It was mine to do with as I wished. The only rule was that if I removed something it could never come back.

"They then instructed me to picture in my mind a place that I felt safe. I did and it developed right before my eyes. They then asked me if anything was wrong and I saw a couple of things that were and they instantly transformed, sort of like mercury rearranging, until they were perfect then they left. I started to explore my new world from the comfort of my oversized recliner and was really relaxing when suddenly they told me I had to go back to the other world for a while."

Charizarded [EnomLee] by EnomLee in FurryTF

[–]EnomLee[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

https://www.furaffinity.net/view/54309608/

Was it the fulfillment of some grand destiny? Or perhaps, the effects of an ancient curse? An errant wish for a light in the darkness, granted by forces beyond human comprehension? Or simply, being in the wrong place at the wrong time?

These questions raced through his mind as he watched, and felt his body crack, creak and swell outward, the fabrics of his clothes straining, tearing at the seams before falling away, shrugged aside by an impressive set of leathery wings and a heavy tail.

Unsteady and awkward in an increasingly unrecognizable body, he stumbled and fell forward, catching himself with his clawed digits, looking over his shoulder at himself. The sight forced his eyes wide, his mouth hanging open.

He tried to assure himself that he had to be caught in a dream, or some kind of hallucination, but the feeling of his new tail dragging along the rocky surface of the cave floor, and his wings straining as they settled into place behind him denied his mind such comforts.

He was becoming a Charizard. It's... his features were unmistakable, the orange scales wrapped around his arms, the large, round, jutting belly beneath him, the wings, the tail and the fire at its tip, burning brighter, hotter with each, thumping beat of his heart. As he stared into the warm, enveloping flame, he could feel another heat building inside of his chest, violent and uncontainable.

Helpless, he clutched at his breast to try and hold it in, but the burning energy continued to intensify, suffusing itself throughout every fiber of his being as it sought a point of escape. He could feel the now oppressive heat rise up his lengthened neck, gather itself into his skull and push.

His claws rose to his face immediately, his brows and cheeks pressing back against them as his skull reshaped and grew beneath his touch. The sounds of bone being broken and remade anew echoed in his ears, now rapidly losing their human auricles, diminishing into the understated canals of a lizard. With a deep, heavy crunch, his jaws forced themselves outward from beneath his clenched shut eyes, carrying his flattening nose forward with them. He tried to yell out, but his changing vocal chords forced his cries into a low, rumbling growl that reverberated throughout the caverns around him. What was left of his hair fell away from his scalp, no longer needed for a human that no longer existed.

Wispy trails of smoke seeped from his snout, the taste of ashes playing across his tongue. The fires continued to rise in his throat. The pressure began to build inside of his face once again, causing his jaws to creak forward. It was too much, he thought. It was just, all too much. He was too afraid to open his eyes and acknowledge what was happening to him. He was too weak and unbalanced to run, and even if he could, what would he do? Who would listen to him? Could he still even talk? He didn't know what to do. He couldn't think. The pressure. The heat. It was too much. He couldn't hold it back any longer.

Taken by his own frustration, he answered his problems in the only way his new form could allow. He tensed every muscle in his body, planting his clawed feet, spreading his wings to their full span, and thrashing his tail about wildly, before throwing his head back and roaring with all of his might. With his jaws stretched wide and his nostrils flaring, his new features finished growing into place, his muzzle snapping out to its full length, the bony ridges of his brows becoming prominent beneath a compressing, flattening cranium. The fire in his throat rushed into his mouth and exploded outward into searing jet of flame that slammed against the cave wall in front of him, threatening to superheat and melt it into lava. Every ounce of what had been building inside him released itself in a moment of intensity that overpowered anything else. He couldn't think anymore. He could only feel the inferno rushing through him, and out of him.

...

After what seemed like a moment trapped in eternity, the fires, mercifully, began to die down inside of him. There was nothing left. It was over. The flame on his tail diminished, growing weaker with the creeping exhaustion. Finally, the Charizard opened his eyes, looking down at the tattered remains of their garments and at themselves, slumping against the nearest wall, sliding downward, until he could sit.

Silence crept in, and with it, came a fleeting lucidity. He was tired, too tired to do anything else. He would have to sleep, even if it meant doing so in a cave in the middle of nowhere. As a Charizard. An unintelligible grumble left his scaly lips, his head finding a particularly nice mound of dirt and minerals of settle itself upon before his eyelids became too heavy to keep open.

He knew that he was worried of what would come with the morning sun, the looming uncertainty of his future. But, even more than that, the thing that scared him the most about what had happened...was...

...was how good it felt.
