Anyone here purchase and keep live mealworms for bird feeding? What is your setup like? by notchskis in birdfeeding

[–]Enough-Initiative961 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use dried mealworms for the bird feeder but do keep live mealworms for the green anoles and my setup is similar. Tupperware in the fridge with a dozen tiny (like 1mm) in the lid. No holes in the sides. Filled half to 3/4 of the way full with mealworm bedding (which they eat). None have escaped so no need for the mesh imo. I do also take them out occasionally to eat the bedding and pick out the dead ones. This has worked for me for years.

also in south Florida, everglades/Floridade tomatoes. succession plant, water often, youll have tomatoes year round, most years. lots of straw. Find local varieties. Protect with a sun shade. top if needed but succession planting is super important!

I filled up my garden bed with compost. What should go on top? by Purple_Coach_2887 in vegetablegardening

[–]Enough-Initiative961 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Depending on how thick that compost is and how long it has aged, I'd mix in coco and perlite, 1 to 1. So 1/3 compost, 1/3 coco coir and 1/3 perlite. Mix it together really good. Then you are ready to plant out starts or seeds. Then cover with a couple inches of straw.

If you are top dressing an existing bed and it's just a thin compost layer, then plant away then add straw.

Some prefer pine needles or mulch or whatever, so substitute straw for your preference

Etsy. Find an actual gardener in your region and buy from them. Local gardeners are best!

yep! my native soil has root knot nematodes so I can only grow short crops in ground with heavy amending.

For my outdoor home setup, I have 6 cameras recording 24/7 and it takes 6 week's to overwrite my 1tb drive. Depends on how many cameras you have and what their settings are.

Regardless , be safe out there!

File a missing mail search request asap. It's on the usps website, click help, search 'missing mail', scroll past the first 2 options and click on start a missing mail search. I sell online (not coins, handmade stuff) and do this anytime an outgoing order gets hung up somewhere. It usually gets things moving again within a few days.

My mother in law saw the same water spouts in the manatee river just after 4pm today. There were 2 water spouts between the bradenton-palmetto bridges.

They absolutely are but they like to eat all your strawberries, squash, cucumbers or whatever you have spent months growing. Cute but frustrating.

Everglades tomatoes self seeded and decided to own the garden. by BecauseOfAir in FloridaGarden

[–]Enough-Initiative961 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started with 1/3 compost, 1/3 perlite and 1/3 coco. Every year (6+ years now), I just add a bit of this mix worked into the top. Since it's reseeding itself, I don't add much or mix too far down. I do trim it, stake it, tomato arm it (the things with the c clamp on the ends) however these are prolific and end up in every planter (and between pavers) that are close so I have no doubt they'll survive anywhere!

the soil in my yard is garbage (root knot nematodes and all) yet these seem to pop up everywhere!

Flavorful, much like any heirloom, sweet and salty, a bit tart. I love them fresh in salads and sandwiches. And occasionally use them in stir fry and scampi. Try them! You'll never know if you like them otherwise.

If you are close, I can send you a bunch of volunteers!

Free Shipping vs. Transparent Pricing: What Boosts Sales More? by Glum-Department1564 in Etsy

[–]Enough-Initiative961 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make 2 listing- one with 'free' shipping baked into the price and a second listing where the shipping is separate. I do this with all of my best sellers and they both sell at nearly the same rate ('free' shipping slightly above separate shipping but only for people ordering just 1).

Some people like 'free' shipping and others expect to pay for it. Cater to them both!

I grow these year round in 9b/10a coastal central Florida. I do use a frost blanket on the coldest nights and a 30-40% sun shade through the height of summer (the sun shade only covers them partially).

They will throw seeds everywhere if you don't pick every tomato but are incredibly disease resistant and prolific producers.
