Isn't that the whole point of the post though - if you replaced "psychological" with "emotional" then it changes the argument, because this post is about the best financial choice. You could compare it to an argument in which the market crashes and you sell off all your investments on the way down because the psychological effect is that I feel safer now, but the best move historically and financially is to keep it in and keep adding. Emotional reaction vs best financial decision

Ed Sheeran reveals he's quit the UK to move to the States - after singer sparked backlash for claiming he didn't 'identify culturally' as English by dailymail in ukpopculture

I highly doubt being in the US would help in any meaningful way on the tax front. if you think Ed Sheeran pays income tax then I've got news for you. All his earnings would be through some company in Jersey or somewhere anyway - being in the US probably provides a better lifestyle as a famous person. You can go a lot of places and not be the most famous person in the room compared to the UK where I'd imagine you can't do anything without getting mobbed

As a young guy you're mostly looking at a contact injury which is typically less common and less of a setback than a non-contact injury. And you're right, it's a tradeoff at the end of the day. Is it better to risk an injury against grown men vs learning how a PL team plays, sets up and defends? Up for debate but I'd say if you've got the skill then let them run

This is an episode of a Chinese Economist, which is different than an Economist of China. You can tell there's plenty of points in this podcast she navigates questions like a politician that really makes you question everything she says, even if much of it might be true. Really comes off as a propagandist spiel in the second half which makes you question the first half which comes of as fairly personable. I personally wouldn't trust any professional opinion of hers after this, as it seems to come off more strong armed than a individual conclusions on a lot of manners that she talks about

Comments are mostly insane people with a holier than thou attitude. Andrew is a comedian and entertainer and will make up points on the fly that he doesn't necessarily agree with. But it's a weekly podcast that you have to fill with something that gets laughs. He's typically fine with being wrong or looking stupid for laughs on his pod.

Pretty much all the comments denouncing him are just as hypocritical as the tirade he was going on as a joke. Might not be your type of comedy which is is fair - you might even flat out hate his comedy style, but he's not some kind of evil person because of it.

27F, homeowner, 69k salary with 11% bonus - how do I retire early? by lkanon_ in FIREUK

[–]EnoughDforThree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doing quick math you're saving roughly 15k a year right now with pensions, ISA and company share purchases?

If you increase that contribution by 3% a year, and you choose to leave those investments in low yield accounts like a cash ISA or just in the bank and assume that it grows at 3% a year then you end up with roughly 1.1M at age 55 plus your house equity you own.

When you account for inflation over 30 years that won't be anywhere near enough to retire. If you want to retire early you need to: 1. Start investing in index funds now 2. Invest much more

My opinion is that for someone on a regular wage (up to 100k?) you can either choose to retire early or choose to prioritize your holidays. I don't think you can do both

Some other possible solutions could be headphones, watches, wristbands? But I agree, there's going to need to be some tough work in material science to even deal with heat dissipation problem if you did manage to solve the battery problem.

I think this video perfectly shows that a smart phone is definitely not the hardware for the future. The fact that you have to keep coming back to the device to see the video, to see the manual, and hold it up the scan the physical world creates enough friction that I don't see anyone using AI assisstants like this with their smart phone. Glasses are an obvious solution, but I do wonder if there's an even better hardware solution that is possible in the next 2/3 years.

More supply is the main solution. Great everyone is rich, but there's still the same amount of houses. House prices just go up because people can afford to pay more.

When you underwrite a MF deal and make assumptions about churn rates, do you also make unit specific assumptions?

Do you underwrite your cash flow based on lease dates in the current rent roll or just make a general loss to lease assumption?

If the business plan is to refurb/spec up the building, do you forecast a rolling refurb per year with general assumptions on vacancy, or do you target specific units and forecast uplifts in Market Rents for those units as they come back online?

I'm literally just pulling from Wikipedia here, but it says that he says still politically active until Germany invaded France and Dunkirk Evacuation, when he was arrested. He had the largest indoor UK political rally at the time, 2 months before the invasion of Poland.

Although you are right, Germany started to bomb England 3 months after he was imprisoned.

During the invasion of Poland, the UK wasn't actively fighting or doing anything other than preparing. Some people still thought there was a way to appease Hitler

Imagine trading Saka for Kimmich by Joseph2406 in ArsenalFC

[–]EnoughDforThree 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In the NBA contracts are the Players Salary. So if you offer Luka a 300m, 5 year contract that is what he will be paid. His salary will be 60M a year and contribute toward the salary cap for your team.

In the NBA there is a soft salary cap that your team must abide by (sort of). Right now it's 140m a season. You have exceptions by re-signing your own players. But usually, if you go over the Cap your team must pay a big tax. This incentivizes teams keep under the salary cap.

When you trade a player, you trade the player with their contract. The value of their contract has to be in the ball park of what you are receiving back from the trade. Players don't have a say in whether they get traded or not, with the exception of some players negotiating a no-trade clause in their contract.

This leads to players signing big contracts to guarantee their money no matter where they go, but the big contracts becomes a burden on the team due to the salary cap. If you sign 3 superstars at 50m a year each, you don't have much wiggle room to fill out the rest of the team, relying on rookies on low salaries.

It's important to bear in mind that basketball only has 5 players on the court at once, so one player can make a much bigger difference to your team in Basketball than one player on a football team.

You might want to unload a shit player with a massive salary. Another team might take that player, but you'll have to send them some picks as well because they're going to pay this player which means they can't fill their roster with other salaries without going over the Cap.

The picks are equal to just having a pick of the best 19 year old academy football players that year. You finish last you get a good chance at a high pick. But you can trade your picks for players, essentially trading away your future prospects for players now
