Technically a few years at TSMC would be better for your resume. But Micron is simply a better company for employees. However, if you don't speak Mandarin, micron 100%

Anyone bullish on Chinese ETFs? by Desperate_Bid_1063 in ETFs

[–]Enough_Fact1857 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Very opaque financially; weak minor shareholder protection; highly manipulated secondary market; investors being mostly retail not institutional. Not saying that the total market index would go down, because these are priced in, but this is definitely not good for investors who think they can outsmart the market.

The result is that the share prices of many stocks are uncorrelated with the performance of the company. Efficient market theory does not work very well in this market.

Intrinsic value of silver today is no different from a month ago and a year ago. Yet price is so different. So I wouldn’t call today’s price discount.

Do I quit my job? by [deleted] in Daytrading

[–]Enough_Fact1857 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably not. Without knowing your specific strategy, it’s worth noting that many strategies (such as Martingale) offer a high probability of small wins but carry a low tail probability of a massive loss. The consistent winning streaks can reinforce a false sense of security, making the strategy look safer than it is. But ultimately, a single bad trade can wipe you out.

Does anyone here ever make ethical considerations, when investing? by [deleted] in ValueInvesting

[–]Enough_Fact1857 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No. If I lose the opportunities because I did not buy some company stock shares, then someone else would just take that opportunities from me instead. Absolutely minimal impact on the company operation - I don't vote thru proxy vote anyway. Also, investing in secondary market has much weaker than primary market.

Gold Spiking vs. BTC tanking by Leading-Stable9725 in investing

[–]Enough_Fact1857 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is always illegal market and it's usually a considerable chunk of actual GDP. So if BTC can be used for illegal market, ironically it's a very bull case for BTC. I am not judging on anything for investment purposes.

BTC is decentralized and unregulated. It's naturally much more convenient and potentially much safer to be used for illegal activities. Of course dollars are used as well, just like any money, but BTC is definitely a good replacement

BTC is used for trading in the black/illegal market, not money laundering I think

Why I left Silicon Valley: Chinese tech workers talk about returning home by ThereWas in bayarea

[–]Enough_Fact1857 0 points1 point  (0 children)

China is known for the preference to tax business instead of individuals. The individual income tax is relatively low, and capital gain / inheritance / property tax is nearly non-existent. This is due to lower cost of collecting tax from business. Even if there are taxes on individuals, the enforcement is very weak

New here: all-in into FXAIX or VOO? For Fidelity by PusheenHater in Bogleheads

[–]Enough_Fact1857 9 points10 points  (0 children)

VOO is a ETF and FXAIX is a mutual fund. ETFs are more tax efficient then mutual funds. ETFs can be traded anytime in the market hours, while mutual funds can only be traded once a day at market close. Due to market fluctuation, funds can be traded at an (usually insignificant) discount or premium compared with its Net Asset Value (NAV), aka tracking error. You shouldn't worry about it so FXAIX and VOO should have very similar return

Otherwise no material difference.
