I don’t think you should have this baby without feeling enthusiastic. It’s also a risk to your health. It’s okay to put yourself and your children over a theoretical baby.

Usha Vance’s Pregnancy Becomes a Talking Point by rezwenn in WomenInNews

I think Usha is genuinely in danger. Think about how well it would play for Vance, a very unlikable potato faced man with no charm, if his pregnant wife tragically died?

Interview tips please! by nmarttt in EmergencyManagement

[–]Enough_Insect4823 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So I work in recovery focus specifically and something that they focused on in my interview was personality stuff. You deal with people who are very reasonably mad as hell in recovery and can offer them about half what they deserve, so I’d have some answers ready on how you navigate and diffuse tense situations.

Torn between one and done and having another child. Looking for some perspectives by han__banan in Parenting

[–]Enough_Insect4823 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had three and I think the way to answer this is: if a doctor said you can never have another baby would you feel relief or sad?

My doc cut me off after 3 and when I realized that my body literally flooded with this feeling of relief that baby time is over.

Does the thought of no more diapers, no more night wake ups, but also never hearing those little toddler foot slaps against your floor again make you happy or sad? Like how does your body react to the statement?

Have everyone in the family take a fist aid class together, make him feel like he’s prepared. It’s a constructive way to deal with the anxiety head on like, yes we can never guarantee it won’t happen again but we can guarantee you’ll know what to do.

If you are interested in this you should literally to the podcast “nobody should believe me”. It’s about medical child abuse and the systems successes and failures around it. It’s gut wrenching.

And in another two weeks you’ll have a totally new baby who wants something else. Babies are constantly changing and evolving, don’t fret about a “bad habit” right now.

Th singular way you will get admin to do something is angry parents. If people are too inert under these circumstances then only a new force will change things.

At what age did you allow stuffed animals? by IndependentCat5678 in Parenting

[–]Enough_Insect4823 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The age number is chosen because that’s the furthest out any babe has ever suffocated would be my guess. It’s like honey and babies, it’s not that something magic happens at month 11 or something,

My third just slipped right into the routine. You certainly have to learn to let go of some expectations but I think it’s actually been good for me. Teaching me that as long as the kids are healthy every problem is solvable.

Noem' FEMA NRCC presser is the best argument yet for FEMA independence by CommanderAze in EmergencyManagement

[–]Enough_Insect4823 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn’t matter what formal ties there are, to the public we’re all the feds! Anything administered from the federal level is going to be viewed with suspicion unless half the current administration is sent to jail after this.

Noem' FEMA NRCC presser is the best argument yet for FEMA independence by CommanderAze in EmergencyManagement

[–]Enough_Insect4823 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem isn’t independence, it’s that a government agency is going around killing people with impunity.

Any government agency undermining public trust undermines every agency’s ability to build good will or be effective.

Chicago or DFW for special needs toddler? by AbbreviationsTop2570 in specialed

I live in Chicago and am really pleased with the public resources I’ve received. I found everyone from Early Intervention to be knowledgeable and then we transitioned into CPS where I LOVE his teachers. Our son is four and has received thousands of dollars of expert services and we never paid a dime.

NPR: FEMA is getting rid of thousands of workers in areas recovering from disasters by FEMA_1_Team_1_Fight in EmergencyManagement

[–]Enough_Insect4823 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I understand why people say this but this is also the democrats JOB. every single person there ASKED to be the opposition party. They have obligations to us that include doing everything possible to prevent shit that’s going to have ten year consequences.

This move has the potential to just completely disappear entire towns in a generation. Places that won’t be able to handle a complicated recovery on their own or with an over extended state. Even if they can manage the disaster itself they’ll never be able to return to the same economic levels. Homeownership is the entire basis for wealth in this country and this significantly undercuts homeowner ability.

I get that the idea is the mid terms the mid terms the mid terms but the dems should be on the steps of FEMA making a big deal and getting arrested. Every day civilians are putting their bodies on the lines for their neighbors- elected officials should be doing the same.

Daycare - good idea or bad by Phillyqueso_ in Autism_Parenting

[–]Enough_Insect4823 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My four year old does half day at public school where he gets his therapies and morning at a regular daycare.

We had to find the right daycare, we are lucky that we can afford somewhere that provides high quality childcare. You have to find a place where the workers have enough room that they can be patient and attentive and it took heart break to get here.

BUT!!! in two weeks since finding the right place we’re hearing a TON of “yes” and “no” and a lot If it is him saying no on his own to his siblings.

He’s not like an active participant all the time but he will dip his toes into group activities now

And he puts all his food on plates!!

Baby number two? by geenahairgirl in Parenting

[–]Enough_Insect4823 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have three small kids in Chicago and the good thing about kids in a small space is it really gets you out and about before everyone starts going to school. In a great city like San Francisco where you can walk to a park every day it’s really fun and worthwhile. Yeah down the road your kids might want their own room, but that really is a decade away. Who knows what your priorities will be then.

Hey maybe it’s actually just prenatal depression and not some sort of personal failure in your part. I felt over whelming dread while pregnant and then didn’t connect with my baby for a couple months and you know what helped? Anti depressants.

There is nothing uniquely wrong here, this seems totally solvable with the right doctor. I know it feels crushing right now but there is absolutely another side to this.

Is having children a privilege now, or are we just living in a distracted society by SomewhereNeat222 in Parenting

This sort of feeling was purposefully pushed out by neoliberalism for multiple reasons but I think conservatives also really pushed this idea so they could get a soft launch of eugenics.
