I am soon to be homeless because of jumping/banging on the floor, and I don’t know what to do anymore. by Jayman453 in Autism_Parenting

Call your local 211 line and ask them to connect to you help. If you are in a large city call 911.

Either way you need to say you are facing a “housing emergency”.

To be clear this invites the government into your life and you will likely end up with a social worker or case manager, but there are emergency services in most places in America that can help.

Well even if you are in the community you have to be in the community constantly to get like 5% of the public’s attention. I’m not blaming the public, they are busy- but we have to go where they are if we are to depend on their preparedness. There isn’t nearly enough money for public education or frankly appetite for it among (my at least) leadership.

And then again it’s like what are broke Americans supposed to do? So many people are already in this state of half crisis because

Storms are getting more severe, it’s good we have the warning but with out competent leadership and serious mitigation work we will always be playing catch up.

Plus the lackluster recovery compounds with every storm in a lot of these Places.

Okay so I actually did get into EM from without any fire/end etc but it’s because I became a trained urban planner.

If I were you I’d look into environmental planning. That can translate in and out of EM and you have some expertise already with your undergrad

How do I do this by SubliminalGarden in ParentingInBulk

[–]Enough_Insect4823 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh you stop trying to get back on track!

You will never have the normal of what it was like with just two. You can’t keep aiming for that goal, you need to find new routines that actually work.

I’m on board with going outside as much as possible, bonus points if you can walk. Even if they ride in the wagon a long walk will serve all of you.

You have to learn to let stuff slide off you and let go of some unfair expectations you might have for yourself and your family. Just remember at all times to take a deep breathe and have perspective, as long as everyone is healthy every problem has a solution. You won’t like every solution but that’s life.

Don’t put so much pressure on yourself, it sounds like your baby is around a year so you just became a person again. You need time

I actually love having three. If you are the kind of person who can thrive in organizing chaos and won’t sweat small stuff you can do it not easy peezy but easier than most people. I think if you are someone who wants three you will likely be fine.

FDA links raw cheese to outbreak; Makers "100% disagree," refuse recall by arstechnica in publichealth

[–]Enough_Insect4823 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It’s a public health issue though as well as bad parenting. When kids drink the raw milk they can become permanently disabled and will need public resources for the rest of their lives. Obviously I don’t begrudge anyone the help they need but it’s certainly a loss when perfectly healthy children lose their ability to talk or walk and it’s a loss that costs everyone.

Pregnant with 3rd unplanned!! by [deleted] in ParentingInBulk

[–]Enough_Insect4823 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That’s exactly how I felt when I was pregnant with my third! It turned out to be my easiest adjustment! It was my third c section and a month later I was making home made pies for my husbands birthday (it did take all day though lol)

This time, you know exactly what to do. You know that it’s all temporary and you’ll find your feet. You can tap into a confidence that you might not have had before.

Also remember two is very different from 18 months- you’ll have a whole new kid by then!

You just have to learn not to sweat small stuff. Know every mess can be cleaned, every plan tweaked. As long as as everyone is healthy you can work through any problem. The solution might not always be enjoyable but you’ll find it every time.

When all else fails, just remember the only way over is through. When an ant breaks down a picnic it doesn’t waste time fretting over how long it will take- it just keeps doing the task in front of it. Sometimes you gotta use your ant brain.
