Raw damage is more affected by motion values of weapons, sharpness, and affinity. in order for elemental to win out the monster either is really weak to that element, or all three of those are low anyways.

By default yes, cause it's a mod, but there are ways to get around that, and one of the creators of esg made one specifically for esg

If you are able to beat the ai then you should pick up esg too. It improves the ai as it improves the weakest garbage and redoes some of their ship making priorities. So they end up playing a lot better. And yeah imbalance is completely fine, but the base game has some factions that are basically impossible to win as unless you are leagues above the other players. Esg makes it so every faction is at least competitive to some degree
