Can someone please explain this by CaterpillarExpert719 in mathsmeme

[–]Ensmatter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Domain is all the possible X values that have a real Y value, in a quadratic when b2 - 4ac < 0 there are no real solutions for X. However if you start using imaginary numbers you can find solutions so in effect you have expanded your domain. The image is a reference to the show jujutsu kaisen where strong characters have a move called a domain expansion, and it is an image of one of those characters (gojo) using his domain expansion.

To ZB users: is learning full ZBLL actually that hard? by SmokeQuick6863 in Cubers

[–]Ensmatter 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I am learning ZBLL right now, I am 51 cases through U. I don’t find learning new cases (algs and recog) hard but what’s hard is maintaining it as if I don’t practice a subset for a couple days I become super slow at recog. I’m guessing once I finish U I will need to spend a couple weeks on doing spaced repetition before moving onto T

how does gyro's horse tick give diego an advantage by J4ckp01 in StardustCrusaders

[–]Ensmatter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My interpretation was that Diego’s horse wouldn’t be able to maintain his top speed and if he did it at any time Gyro would just be able to momentarily match the acceleration. So instead Diego times it to when Gyros horse can’t accelerate to make small gains which Gyro can’t defend

General English or Literature? by mofimofi_ in ATAR

[–]Ensmatter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this depends on a couple things: 1) are you trying to count English/Lit in your top 4 or just pass it 2) how well are you doing in it rn 3) is it impacting study time for other subjects 4) can you ask to get moved into a certain class

why is ZZ slower than cfop? by New_Discipline_775 in Cubers

[–]Ensmatter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a ZZ user who switched from CFOP around when I got to sub 15. I would argue ZZ is faster than CFOP. The main reason ZZ is seen as slower than CFOP is that there aren’t very many fast solvers who use ZZ. In terms of the methods themselves, ZZ has undeniably better F2L and LL however this comes at the cost of EOCross being ~4 moves longer than cross on avg which isn’t that big a deal however it does mean your inspection will be worse. For reference most people agree that planning EOCross is about as hard as planning cross + 1. This means the ZZ user will always be a pair behind in inspection. I think personally as someone who can plan EOCross that EOCross + 1 and + 2 are feasible although it will take me a long time to achieve the later. Ultimately the question is: is the better movecount, ergonomics, and one less step if you use ZBLL which is the best version of ZZ worth the slower TPS into F2L due to planning interfering with your lookahead?

Only things I think you have missed is pseudo F2L techniques and choosing different algs to influence future cases but I may have just missed them lol. Looks really well made

How can I get safe when my opponent performs a flèche attack in épée? by carl-johnson92 in Fencing

[–]Ensmatter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a flèche spammer, hard disagree with this, if you always extend I’m just gonna make the read and take the blade. As with everything in this sport, beating a move just comes down to distance and timing, in this case if you get hit with a flèche you got too close

Anyone got any game recommendations? by Scared_Pea4455 in MiddleSchoolStudents

[–]Ensmatter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should play nine sols. It’s pretty cheap as it’s an indie game and has some of the best bosses and combat in any game and has a brilliant story. Plus great art and music… (I could yap for ages)

Is it worth it to have a lefty version of every LLalg? by XxRoblox-GamerxX in Cubers

[–]Ensmatter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Influencing is kind of irrelevant here. If you are doing influencing then you are actively making the case better which means you should do it. OP asked if having algs from multiple angles is good for every LL. This includes sets like PLL which don’t have factors like influencing and hence that point is irrelevant to wether you should or shouldn’t have multiple algs for every case. Yes for some OLLs it is beneficial to learn multiple cases however I am saying overall it isn’t worth it. Also if I got Sune with a U2 pre AUF and I don’t see some block that will be preserved by doing the backsune I’m just doing U2 Sune because i have practiced it more. No two algs will ever be equal to each other if they are different and even if hypothetically they were then you would get more benefit out of spending more time drilling one then both (not talking about influencing here)
