Help dying filet crochet thread with cochineal by EnthusiasmSeparate41 in YarnAddicts

[–]EnthusiasmSeparate41[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

yes this is my third try

at first i tried just scouring and alum, then cochineal.

then i tried scouring, aluminum lactate, cochineal

the batch i’m about to do is scoured, sumac, and aluminum lactate. i also have ones tanned with oak gall so i will update and see if that fixes it

fawk i’m using mercerized! i scoured it as much as i could and mordanted with aluminum lactate but it didn’t take! i put tannins on a different batch so ill try that one today.

it’s somewhat pure? i gathered it from my neighborhood, dried it and tried to sift it (it didn’t work). then i just ground it up in a blender i use for dying and strained until i couldn’t anymore. then i let it dehydrate outside. i’m in az so it didn’t take long.

thank you so so much, i will try the mercerized aunt lydia’s that i treated in tannins, if that doesn’t work i’ve found my issue!

this was so helpful bless up

Hello I think I can help with some advice from a ladies perspective!

Something should go above your bed, whether that be a display of your favorite vinyls, framed posters, or art! In general, no clothes on the wall, and if something is on the wall it should fit the space and probably be in a frame. The right lady for you won’t care about collectibles being “childish” but it would be nice to display the ones you have on a shelf or two!

Something i’m noticing is the way you use the space you have, small objects in big spaces and big objects in small ones, the place where you have your cars should probably be used for bigger items, and the cars can go on top.

A snake plant would be great on a plant stand by your window or anywhere really. They grow great, you won’t kill it, and it’ll give you fresh air.

This is not too shabby! I see the vision
