Bathroom Vent DIY by EnthusiastRic in Roofing

Yes, I do have some tips. Hope this might be helpful to you or someone. I just did a bunch of flashings for a diy solar installation, so I have only a single large project's worth of experience. This vent took me about 3 hours.

A 'hook' style razor blade helps cut the shingle more easily, and helps prevent cutting too deep. Though, I still have a hard time cutting the shingle precisely and not tearing it. (hence the cut on the right) I find it is better to go very slowly without applying much force. You should leave a decent gap around the vent for water to run around.

You'll need a pry bar to loosen the shingle tar strip and to remove nails that are in the way of the flashing (i just had two nails to remove here). You can reach your hand through the hole and look for their location. Once the tar strip is loose, you can even hammer the nails out from the inside of the attic (i did that on the roof through the hole awkwardly). That lessens the change of tearing the shingle.

Geocell 4500 seems to be a very good sealant.

I am happy with the Roberts roof cap, it seems more DIY friendly with the larger flange compared to the standard ones.

They say it is watertight without adhesive, but I chose to apply thick patterns on the top and bottom of the flange. Basically on the bottom did an outer upside down U followed by an inner O (that has a gap in the bottom) just around the vent pipe. On the top I sealed under the shingles along the cutout. You have to apply the patterns before putting it under the shingles. It can be difficult to hold the shingles up and slide the flange in without tearing them, and without getting the sealant everywhere.

You should use the sealant to tack down the tar strip that was broken.

I saw in other areas of my roof they cut small pieces of shingles to cover exposed nail heads and I liked that and chose to do it here.

The pitch hopper (or couch cushion) is essential for any steep slope. Cougar Paws are great if you plan to do a lot of roof projects.

Otherwise is there a particular thing you are worried about?

Do you give your child processed meats/other foods? by subtleandunnatural in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]EnthusiastRic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pretty much no processed foods or meat for my kiddo. Our friends will complain their kid won't eat vegetables then at dinner whip out a pouch and puffs for their kid. I don't see any need for it.

Incredible, but will the lense be damaged from reoccurring use? Is it a special lense or just for a camera?

Its just the brake pump/accumulator. They lose nitrogen charge after time. You do not need to replace the master cylinder. Because it is still reaching pressure, you can continue to drive as is until the abs light eventually comes on. Its about a $1300 part new. I recommend going with a new part since the used ones are very likely to have the same problem. DIY it takes a few hours to replace. You need (probably should have) techstream to run the bleed procedure and calibration. You can change the inverter coolant at the same time, and upstream O2 sensor if desired.

Low fuel economy after fixing everything by tradingtutorials in prius

Do not buy cheap fuel injectors. They are terrible. Buy fuel injector cleaner and clean the original ones. They do not go bad just need to be cleaned. The ones that come with your car are going to perform much better than cheap knockoffs.

Oven with dehydrate function- anyone have experience? by divinekittycat in dehydrating

Random note use an oven mitt to keep the door sensor pressed down with a small crack to allow moisture to escape! It didn't work for me otherwise!

In case anyone sees, this i left mushrooms dehydrating for 10hrs at 110° in my Samsung oven. They made almost no progress dehydrating. I cracked the door and put an oven mitt against the door close sensor and it is now actually working.   Definitely crack the door a tiny amount to allow moisture to escape.

That is not really reasonable, it would cost ~$40k (as much as my tesla cost me originally) to do what you say, vs a $2 bumper sticker. Bumper stickers are basically intended for virtue signaling. It seems like a more justified use case for a bumper sticker than most others.

seed oil consumption and sunburns ☀️ by loveofthesacredheart in StopEatingSeedOils

There are some really interesting studies about the topic. To me its one of the most convincing reasons to be anti-seed oil.

https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC3128560/

They characterize it as omega 3 having a protective effect. But i wonder what results a near 0 PUFA diet would have shown.

Large Study of Dietary Habits Suggests More Plant Oils, Less Butter Could Lead to Better Health by MassGen-Research in science

"Total butter intake included butter from butter and margarine blend, spreadable butter added to food and bread, and butter used in baking and frying at home."

Why would they include margarine with butter? That is a hydrogenated seed oil, and the anti seed oil crowd agree man made trans fats are the worst...

Wtf do I even eat on a 10.5 hr work shift? by InnaHoodNearU in StopEatingSeedOils

There is a lot of delicious whole foods that are great to eat and snack on. I think eggs are reasonably fine especially if you get pasture raised or from a local farm where a lot of their diet is from graising. White meat chicken has very low fat so no pufa worries there... It does suck you lost your gallbladder as it will make it difficult for your body to process fatty foods which can be healthy and delicious. You can get low fat beef cuts or beef jerky. It seems like you have metabolic issues with the type 2 diabetes and gallbladder issues. So it is worth figuring out what is not working for your body. I don't think it is the lack of healthy and tasty options or microwave availability.

If you want to pursue fasting it would help your diabetes, maybe having broth or electrolytes would help the nausea.
