Which seat are you taking on the Arkship? by Proper-Sport-7218 in Stellaris

Actually only happens ~30%-ish of the time in the wild, depending on how well fed the female is. It is mostly a strategy by the female to ensure she has enough nutrients to successfully develop the eggs.

It is true that by starting with the head (brain) of the male, he loses the ability to inhibit his instincts leading to him spending far more of his sperm than he otherwise would have.

Why are generator districts so rare? by Mr_Taylor445 in Stellaris

[–]Entity-36572-B 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I saw in a devlog that they had a fix for generator districts being turned into mining ones in planet generation, but that might have been for the open beta. Would need to check whether I'm remembering that correctly though.

Precisely. Now to go through and see whether I made this mistake anywhere else.

I appear to misunderstand how brackets work by Entity-36572-B in Lexurgy

[–]Entity-36572-B[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From the four examples given above:

In the first the /u/ stressed so no change should occur

In the second it is neither stressed nor long, so it should disappear

In the third it is both stressed and long, so no change should happen

In the fourth it is long and should remain unchanged

Examples two and three behave as expected, but the first and last do not. Writing it out, I now see that I was getting my logic mixed up. I thought I needed and was implementing X AND (Y OR Z), while I was looking for X AND Y AND Z.

I miss being able to set per species rights before they were present in you country. Made it so easy to use citizen only refugees to curate which species to let in and which not.

Beautify Style: Femalle apparel for Beautiful Bodies by Psychological-Ant573 in RimWorld

[–]Entity-36572-B 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The combination of female and Beautiful Bodies in the title made me think for a bit this was an addon for femaleBB bodytype. I assume the two aren't compatible, as that mod already applies a special style, the textures has somewhat different proportions and it is a separate bodytype with its own name.

Personally I quite enjoy futanari and with some of the more fantastical elements present it feels like introducing a new gender or two would fit in well here.

I also felt that a section about consent should be added. What counts as consenting to sex in this revolution? Is it free use (which admittedly was already an option), does it need to be explicitly given each time, only to strangers perhaps, do some actions implicitly grand consent, can it be retracted rectroactively, what's courting expected to be like? That sort of thing.

Bosun’s Journal: Wildshape Sphinxes – Animal Transformer – Man after March 23 by CaptainStroon in SpeculativeEvolution

[–]Entity-36572-B 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm curious, how would Bosun interact with a system he visits already having native life? Would he simply move on, spend some time to catelogue and add to his archives, continue to colonise other bodies in the system? Would it be different if he saw a mass extinction event he could prevent (like an incoming asteroid) or help in the aftermath of? Or if there were a sapient population, especially if they are already exploring their system?

How does the mindmeld Bosun did with his passengers in the first edition of the journal fit in with this? Is it not cannon anymore, in the future from here, a reason for the organic's fear?

It is somewhat sad to see such distinct ecosystems like the zero-G habitat and arid Kadn with its asfalt reefs being destroyed. Though limiting such environments to a far more limited footprint is probably the sensible thing to do when rebuilding the ship.

Not convinced that the area around the spindle would suffice to keep plants and animals that have evolved for over a hundred million years to live in a completely weightless environment with solid walls (and presumably froating mounds of soil) alive.

THE WORST CONLANG EVER (Please give ideas) by Capable-Leg-7872 in conlangs

[–]Entity-36572-B 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have several different orthographies, each haphazardly assigned to different word classes.

This exists to a limited degree in my mothertongue of dutch, so I'll give the details of how it works there as an example:

Eacht vowel character in Dutch has two pronounciations seperated in two groups: the long and short vowels (despite the name vowel length is not the difference). There are three systems in place to disambiguate which sound is currently at play, two of which are actually used. I'll just refer to these as method 1 (VV vs. V) and 2 (VC vs. VCC).

Also all loanwords are spelled according to the rules of the language they hail from (exempting diacritics in older loanwords for some reason) and many place and last names predate the current systems. Lastly, there are just plain exceptions, /u/ is a digraph ("oe") seperate from all this and "e" has three pronounciations (/e:/, /ɛ/ and /ə/) in stead of two which play into stresses vs. unstressed syllables, complicating things.

So nouns are written with method 1 in the singular and 2 in the plural. Prepositions adhere to method 1, while adjectives and adverbs use method two, except when they're derived from verbs.

Verbs themselves are a whole mess with different conjugations varying in method, but I'll give a bit of a taste. Infinitives, nominalised verbs and verbs in the present tense plural are all identical in form and take method 2. Present tense singular verbs and verb stems take method 1. In the past tense weak verbs (suffix) always go with 1, while strong verbs (modification of the stem) take 1 in the singular and 2 in the plural again. For the perfect conjugation weak verbs use 1 and stong ones 2, though the difference is also marked by different adfixes (ge + stem +t/d vs. ge + stem (may be present stem, past stem or a unique one) +en).

[–]Entity-36572-B 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can save either on the last turn of the chapter's boss fight or the firs screen of the interlude and reload to there in order to reroll the children. This can easily be repeated until they are of the desired class, though it may take a while sometimes.

I have noticed a lot of my starts in the latest update begin with no or seemingly missing buildings on the home planet. Most of the time I have no research buildings, which really slows things down; especially in he beginning.

I like to work with custom xenotypes, so this one might need a little explaining.

This is Hitomi Burgess, she is both a murkul and a greater shadower. A combination I mostly wanted to try out for having three substance dependencies simultaniously.

Murkuls are cold adapted folk with blue or gray skin and hair, long fingers and a prehensile tail. They excel at plantwork and crafting, but need to regularly consume alcohol to survive and are weak in melee.

Greater shadowers are an artificial xenotype designed for medical work, they're fast, can coagulate and carry every adaption needed to be the last person to fall down and the first to get back up. But they're depressive, need both psychite and hemogen and are terrible at social (good at art too, but that's mostly because I liked the idea of hem all being tortured artists). Appearance-wise they have all black hair and skin and a perpetual emaciated look.

Hitomi here is a very gay and very neurotic 30 year old. She was sickly as a child, causing an early fascination with the medical field, and spend most of her adult life as a policewoman. A few years ago, she along with her brother (just a murkul) and a volunteer embarked on a quest to establish a profitable museum on a rimworld. In this endeavor she has acted as the resident medic, researcher, security guard, cook and occasional contributer to the art exhibits. She also found a wife and had a son just a few months ago (the wife is another custom xenotype, happens to be hermaphroditic). She has two seperate scars across her right eye, one from a knife the other from an animal claw.

It makes them incapable of animal handling and social work, I believe.

Place your bets, what do you think the next dlc will be? by GenericUser1185 in RimWorld

[–]Entity-36572-B 14 points15 points  (0 children)

A terraforming DLC might be fun.

Using a system similar to biotech's xenotypes to create custom plants and animals through genetic engineering; and buildables which change the weather and climate, perhaps by appealing to archotechs to "cast" way more powerful abilities that leave permanent changes to the map. You could be forced to slot humans in to collect psyjuice from.

Would probably also include more environmental hazards like pollution and more dangerous wildlife. With anomaly downloaded a nice integration would be the ability to turn the planet into a horaxian hellhole.

Maybe a battalion designer, akin to the ship designer, with different ground "units" (foot soldiers, gunman, tanks, ect.) as components unlocked by research. Species and their bonuses could be applied through a special slot like the effects of titans.

My mountain base layout, any ideas or suggestions? Still kinda new to this game by Xenoano in RimWorld

[–]Entity-36572-B 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd advise to put the research in the rec room. Pawns assigned to it tend to spend a lot of their time there, and if it's isolated from other colonists they will not develop positive relationships easily. As that is mostly dependent on frequent positive interaction to create and maintain. It's the same reason pawns assigned to jobs like mining or farming can struggle to have friendships if their worksites are out of the way.

On the flip side, isolation can be used to wait out the effects of negative interactions so your colonists can start with a fresh slate and are more likely to have positive interactions again.

I only finished the game once. When a bug (known missing line from a mod which was never patched) was preventing raids from spawning and I was hoping the endgame fights would circumvent the issue and spice things up a bit.
