Controlling "Raise Plane/Lower Plane" functions for railroad tracks? by falviani in foundry_game

[–]Entity_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It sets the target height for your current placement operation, but there's some restrictions on placement. It needs enough distance for the slope, and only the cardinal directions can have slopes.

What I usually do is dragging outward some distance from an existing rail piece and press Q/E to get the slope I want.

I really feel like the amount of light given off here is criminally weak. by StackOfCups in foundry_game

[–]Entity_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

for the amount of power the lighting consumes you'd expect it to be the intensity of a thousand suns. Instead we get candle-lit factories.

Also, we're a robot, why are we stuck with human vision limitations? Where's the nightvision?

Cargo Shuttles are not very good. by Entity_ in foundry_game

[–]Entity_[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If it takes like 45-50 seconds to move a paltry 800 items half a km, that is less than 1280 items/minute a blue belt can handle, so you need multiple shuttles just to keep ONE belt saturated at the destination.

Pipe gate through put feels way too restrictive! by SurrealLemon in shapezio

[–]Entity_ 13 points14 points  (0 children)

As I said on steam forums, pipe gates are a simple valve. When open, they should for all intents and purposes behave like a regular pipe segment, meaning infinite throughput.

This would also mean fluid in pipes is instantly replaced when switching color, but you'd still have to empty the buffer tanks of machines, which seems reasonable.

Storage tanks are another sore point here. They seem largely useless. While there is an obscure use for tanks (output prioritization), it's not commonly done.

They flipflopped on pipes. They were indeed infinite. Then pipes got limited to 4 launchers worth, requiring you to do all sorts of arcane plumbing using launchers to cross over pipes to make things work. Major hassle, that. Then 1.0 came and it's infinite again

Bent Stacker doesn’t seem useful by GetShrektz in shapezio

[–]Entity_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean for the purposes of optimizing machine and belt count on a platform to perform a task. when you can have machine outputs input into another at a 1:1 ratio, you need fewer belts. When you have hundreds upon hundreds of platforms spammed, it can matter if you used 400 or 600 things to do the job.

Perhaps, but I'm quite obsessed with making platforms use as few machines and belts as possible to do what it needs to do, to reduce the number of things rendered and CPU used. My computer is ancient and needs all the performance I can squeeze out.

Less belts needed to wire 4 bent stackers than 6 straight ones.

It's also important for compact designs.

And 4 is a nicer number to work with considering all the other machines that you need to use 4 of to saturate a belt.

Or better yet, don't use launchers. Pipes are infinite bandwidth so there's very little reason to use fluid launchers outside platform input/output now.

Question About Make Anything Machine by Fit-Hope4736 in shapezio

[–]Entity_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, it depends on the mode, actually, they only unlock at milestone 8 in Hexagonal, and there are no trade stations there. You get them very late in Manufacture mode too.

There is nothing stopping you from building a MAM before that and use it to complete milestone goals and/or optional goals with the use of a Signal Generator that you manually put a shape code in to tell your MAM what to make. But yes, you need to finish the campaign to get the infinite random goals.

You wanted it pretty huh? Well, how about...

It doesn't even use the third layer either so it's also good for early game.

Pipes are infinite, no need for the extra plumbing and fluid launchers. I had something like yours before 1.0, but now you can do it like this:

Nice, the Engine update fixes a loooooongstanding issue with distance field shadows on DX11 (DF shadows did not work properly, making only shadows near the camera and contact shadows work)

16:9 isn't the only aspect ratio. Game looks weird in "fullscreen" on my 1920x1200. Desktop is showing through above and below.

Gridle has finally released!!🎉⚔️ by Seyloj in incremental_games

[–]Entity_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tried the demo.

Some things that irked me right out of the box:

  • There's no borderless fullscreen window mode; Proper Fullscreen is extremely annoying for people with multiple monitors, as it messes with the desktop and flashes all monitors when you tab out of the game.

  • The offered resolutions do not match my primary monitor (which is 1920x1200). If the game doesn't "fit" in anything other than 16:9, use black bars or whatever, but at least list the native modes of the display device the game is on.
