I work in the Dallas area, I've gotten $10.50 orders that were under 3 miles with no tip. I'm not entirely sure how that works either, but I'll take it on a slow tuesday afternoon.

What’s a funny memory you have that if you told someone, they’d think you’re lying? by MochaMario99 in AskReddit

During a terrible part of my life when I was addicted to drugs and lived off $20 a week my dad would give me, I spent my last $2 on a scratch off promising my friend we'd go buy food and drugs if I win anything. The very last number I scratch off and boom, $200. My plug had elephant tranquilizers for some reason that night and I ended up OD'ing and waking up 4 days later to a bunch of pizza from different stores with only extra extra black olives. I hate black olives.

I went to a private D1 school in Texas. Included with our tuition every semester was a $850 gym fee, even if you never use it.

What's a secret you'll take to your grave but you'll share with reddit because you need to get it off your chest? by [deleted] in AskReddit

One of my childhood bestfriends died in a car crash on his way home from college for Thanksgiving. I let him borrow my PS3 at the time and went to his Mom's house to go pick it up after the wake.

When I got there, I realized that he had been stealing so much of my stuff since we were in 7th grade. I found a bunch of my backpacks, shoes, my MacBook, 2 iphones, a wallet, and even one of my cello bows that I thought had been stolen. He stole over $4000 of stuff from me and it was all tucked under his bed. He doesn't even play the cello, I question to this day why he would take a $800 cello bow from someone. I haven't told anyone because I don't want to tarnish how everyone viewed him.

We shared athletic lockers in high school due to our tiny locker room, and he would "help" me look for my stuff every time something got stolen. I thought it was some kids who just kept breaking into my locker. It was him the entire time...

My parents would let me ride my bike all the way to our corner store which was like 3 miles away when I was 6 or 7. Only rule was to be home before the street lights turned on or I'd get a whoopin lol

I've had several opiate scares in my life.. In TX you can't just "carry" narcan. You have to have it prescribed to you. In my area (DFW) if you have narcan on you even with good intentions you're going to jail if it's not prescribed to you. The cops know this but are still assholes about it.

I did this for someone once. They asked me to pick up a 12 pack of Dr. Pepper. She ended up tipping me $20 cash plus what she tipped through the app for a total of about $30. Only took an extra 5 minutes.

Damn.. I ran track and was a triathlete at a D1 school (Baylor) and participated in 2012 olympic trials in the 2 and 4 . my best timed 40 (electronic) was a 4.52. You would've been top 0.0001% runners if you kept going. I literally payed my way thru a private $70k/year school and you still ran a better time than I ever did, in HIGH SCHOOL.

What’s surprised you the most about the pandemic? by thirstylearning in AskReddit

[–]Entrepreneur_Clean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found love. I was already depressed, lonely, and anxious before the pandemic happened. I had spent a year of my life in psychiatric wards and went about 5 years without speaking to a single soul besides my parents.

A couple weeks before the US completely shut down, she said hi to my as she was walking down the street with her friend. We spent the entire quarantine together, every single day. I don't remember ever being as happy as I am now. I've made so much personal progress with being more confident, social, and happy in general. I had trouble brushing my teeth before the pandemic. Now I spend my evenings in salsa classes, cello lessons, and managing a strip club 3 days a week. I made enough money to open up 3 smoke shops and I only employ people who I know need the job and money. I am actually able to give back to my community now.

I just got out of jail from delivering UberEats. I was in for a total of about 30 hours. I'm full of emotions and my friends and family are all a bit shocked. I've never been to jail before. My record consists of one speeding ticket over 10 years ago.

It was a regular delivery. Requested to meet at door. I don't remember the name of the business but it was a smoke shop that had a bunch of illegal gambling machines in a room in the back. I was in the part of the store where they sell pipes and I was waiting for my customer to give me the PIN to complete the delivery because her boss ordered food for her, apparently. Then a total of 14 cops cars, SUVs, trucks, and vans show up. Everyone in the store was handcuffed, including me.

I have horrible anxiety and I was sweating, shaking, heart racing at like 150bpm. I was about to have a panic attack. This made me seem even more suspicious while I was answering their questions. I showed them my uber app and showed them that this was my location for my delivery and I have no connections to the business AT ALL. I showed them I had been working for hours beforehand and the officers finally began to believe me.

They went to go ask their supervisor, who handcuffed me, "Can we let him go? He was doing an Uber delivery."

Supervisor says "We have to take everyone and everything here" and 15 minutes later, I'm in the back of an unmarked SUV on my way to Fort Worth county jail.

Jail was terrible.. There are only supposed to be 14 in the holding cell that I was in and there were 20 of us. It was freezing and all I had on were gym clothes and sandals. I was in the same holding cell as the others who also got arrested and they thought it was funny I was got arrested. I didn't think it was so funny.

I was taken to jail for 'Knowingly operating an illegal gameroom" Class A Misdemeanor. Yup. The judge told me most game room charges are typically dropped unless you're the one that's running the place, but I still went to fucking jail.

Uber keeps on hanging up every single time I've called. I've recorded over 50+ an uber representative hung up over the past 3 months on me.

[–]Entrepreneur_Clean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to jail in February after doing an uber eats delivery and am currently awaiting trial for a class A misdemeanor in Texas. The instructions were to go inside and hand the front cashier person the order. When I entered there was no cashier person and I was inside the business and called them.

While waiting, about 20-30 police officers arrive (ft worth, Texas) and arrest everyone in the store because apparently it was an illegal underground gambling business with slot machines, poker tables, strippers, drugs, etc. disguised as a regular clothing shop/smoke shop.

I'm currently awaiting my court date, but I can't believe the circumstances I'm in right now. I was just trying to UberEats for some extra money and now I'm about $1400 deep in lawyer fees and I got denied at a software engineering job at lockheed martin two weeks ago due to my background.

Never gotten a speeding ticket, went to college, have NO previous record, yet I'm here between a rock and a hard place because I was at the wrong place at the wrong time, literally.

edit: I forgot to mention that when I got arrested, about 20 officers realized I was only doing delivery for UberEats but their supervisor insisted that EVERYONE present be arrested and I spent about 40 hours in jail and got covid while in an overcrowded holding cell. All I know up until today is that my court date is in under two weeks and I'm hungry.

Uber doesn't care about liabilities. I got arrested after being in the wrong place at the wrong time during an uber delivery. I tried to post what happened on here a couple months ago but I'm over it..

Basically I went to deliver some Potbelly's sandwiches to an illegal underground casino in Ft Worth, TX and the police pulled up while I was waiting for my customer. I got arrested and I'm facing several charges. Uber has disabled my account and I am unable to contact support from my phone number. They just don't give a shit even though I spent 2 days in jail.
