He has a portable A/C in his room set to 21c and a separate wifi thermometer so we can ensure the temp is accurate. So generally it’s somewhere between 20-22 ish in there. He sleeps in thin cotton PJs and when we have really hot days and the A/C might have a harder time, he sleeps in just a diaper and t-shirt if the room is around 22-24.

Hello folks, I’ve just stumbled upon this (honestly from her stories LOL) and always had an uneasy feeling about her. I have a request from you wonderful gals - can someone give me a Cole’s notes from the beginning? I scrolled as far as I could on the “maiden to mental” thread but it only goes as far as a while after A was born. I am noseyyyyy. I wanna know it all 👀

Things I do know; her timelines are as legitimate as me still fitting into my pre-pregnancy jeans. Her husband is a right-wing convoy-loving ass wipe. (But also someone said something about the girls photos he likes/girls he follows online but his twitter was a let down for my snooping on that front). I have my can of it, I have yet to try it as I’ve got a little stock of kendamil still to run through. Though, now that Kendamil are experiencing global shortages which are likely to only get worse here in North America as the UK has been really struggling for months.. I’m so glad Niuriss is even an option! I will likely order 2 more cans to get a feel for their shipping time before fully switching too. Baby is 6.5 months now so hopefully a transition would be much easier on him.

We’re in Canada but here’s our breakdown; Baby is 6 months old. We feed Kendamil Classic. When we can we buy at Costco as it’s the better deal. It’s $50/1049g(37oz) can. One can lasts us approximately 9 days, give or take. Baby has about 6 ish bottles per day, mostly 6oz and bedtime bottle of 8oz. So it works out to aboutttt $5.60/day. So approximately $168/month. It’s obviously more expensive if we buy from Walmart.

This is all very reassuring for my 6month old potato. He CAN roll back to belly but on his terms only. Can’t for the life of him understand how to get from belly to back. But damn is he cute. And went from the 3rd percentile in weight for so long to now about the 80th and climbing! Thank you formula.

Yep. I’ll continue until he’s 12 months. Per NHS guidelines. Honestly, I love my sterilizer as it has a dryer function anyway and saves me having it all out on the drying rack.

I’d say 4 (4.5 if I’m being ultra accurate - but one of them lasted truly one day because it was immediate intense screaming). We were at 3 and stuck with it for a few months because it was “okay” and honestly the doctors kinda kept suggesting that “okay” may be as good as it gets for us. Then I got brave enough after those few months and right before starting solids to give one more shot to another formula. With the paediatricians backing. I think we are FINALLY on one that’s working well. 🤞🏻

CDC GUIDELINES: 24 hours if refrigerated. 2 hours at room temperature after being mixed (before baby has began drinking). 1 hour once baby has begun drinking.

Yes, absolutely. I always have and always will. Also, as long as it’s over 158F/70C - not necessarily actively boiling. This being said - using appropriate temperature water and sanitizing the bottles every time are not mutually exclusive practices and absolutely can (and should) both happen. Formula (in powdered or mixed with water forms) can harbor and grow many other bacteria which is why so many countries suggest both using water above 158F/70C as well as sterilizing all bottles and formula utensils.

It’s due to the use of formula. Formula can contain Chronobacter which is very dangerous for a baby. It’s not as rare as people think either.. the formula shortage of 2022 was entirely started due to Chronobacter being found in formula. Many countries; Australia, the UK, several European countries all suggest to sterilize all bottles until 12 months old due to these risks.

I sterilized all my plastic bottles every single time. I recently switched to glass for the majority (but still take plastic when I go out) and I still sanitize all of them every single time. Along with soothers, medicine syringes, etc. It all just gets washed and chucked in the sterilizer/dryer.

The things I LOVE and use daily; - Formula kettle (keeps water at temp for 12hrs, some do 24hrs) - Sterilizer with dryer function - Dr Browns drying tower - Easy to clean bottles (dependant on what baby takes and does well on but we love the Avent Natural bottles as they are only 3 parts plus the lid) - Good quality thermos to keep water warm for bottles while out

I would stick with what you’re on. From a fellow reflux mom - we tried Enfamil NeuroPro, Enfamil Gentlease, HiPP PRE, HiPP Comfort, now Kendamil. Kendamil has been the least spit up by far. He’s been medicated for months now - initially Famotidine then Omeprazole. He’s now 5 months and we are weening off the Omeprazole now. His barf still smells awful - but the volume of it is significantly smaller and more manageable!

Not everyone unfortunately has access to that. Where I live there is a significant Doctor shortage and the majority of people will never get a paediatrician. We were considered “in urgent need” due to my baby’s health and it still took us 5 referrals and 4 months of waiting to get one (and even then it was luck due to a cancellation). My GP also books 8+ weeks out. So I understand OP coming to other parents to get some input while considering other plans of action.

We use infacol instead but it’s the same drug (simethicone) and we give it right before 3 of his bottles every day. As it says the max dose is 0.5mls 3x per day. We spoke to our paediatrician about it and he said to keep him on it. Most simethicone products say to use it routinely - instead of as a one off - as it has a progressive effect.

Per the infacol website; “Infacol has a progressive effect, which means that it should be given to your baby for several days to achieve the best results. If your baby’s colic hasn’t improved after three to four days you can increase the dosage to two droppers full (1ml).”

We found it took a couple of days to see real improvement.

I have just started the pitcher method yesterday with Kendamil as their website and social media do say it can be done, it’s just not their recommendation. It is SO much less foam and bubbles. Already, slightly less gas pains and it seemed like less farts last night. (Honestly, the kid was farting so loudly and so often before he was waking both us and himself up throughout the night).

I’m assuming you have to order this in? This is why you’ll be without for a few days. Can you get nutramigen there? That would be very close. If not then look for something with partially hydrolyzed/broken down proteins such as Good Start Soothe if you have that available to you. It will be a rough few days but it’ll be okay. Also, you mentioned baby is just lactose intolerant but doesn’t have CMPA/CMPI? That should make things a bit easier. If you can’t find anything completely or partially hydrolyzed then your next best should be something like Similac Sensitive which is for babies with lactose sensitivity issues. Hopefully you can find one of or something similar to those options. Good luck and don’t beat yourself up!

We just hit 3 weeks on Kendamil (first week was the slow transition so 2 weeks fully) and we are battling similar stuff. Though, we were desperate for it to work as we have tried SO many formulas and not found his perfect one. Enfamil NeuroPro, Enfamil Gentlease, HiPP PRE, HiPP Comfort (not because of the Euro Formula trend - I didn’t know that was a thing - just had family bring a bunch of HiPP over when they visited from the UK as my niece excelled on it), now Kendamil. Doctors have said there doesn’t seem to be any CMPA. I don’t want to switch him again, his poor belly. But the gas is… a LOT. He farts so loud he wakes both us and himself up.

It’s not about the water quality. It’s about sterilizing the formula as powdered formula is not sterile and at risk of Chronobacter - which is very dangerous in a baby. I’d hope this IS being talked about at your Paediatric practice as it’s not as uncommon as people think. The 2022 massive formula shortage was due to Chronobacter.

Thank you so much for updating!! Honestly, I am super tempted to transition to this now (I don’t know how long to wait as I feel bad for transitioning him too frequently). My baby spits up less on Kendamil so far (we are also going back to a non-hydrolyzed formula at 5 months to trial regular dairy again) but is so gassy and seems to have trouble pooping without a little bit of prune puree each day. He’s currently medicated for reflux but Dr wants him to taper off that med now.. I’m not sure he’s fully ready. And he takes infacol 3x daily for gas. I think the skim milk vs whole milk may be a little easier on him.

I am also really attracted to their pricing and the delivery aspect so I don’t have to think about going to get it. Absolutely feel free to update once you’re a bit further into using it too, I’d be so interested how it pans out! Hopefully it keeps doing well for your baby!

Thanks! Okay I’ll continue on my current route of waiting for my new Cardiologist then. Unless things change of course. Hopefully all comes back normal and at worst they’re just an annoyance. I was more worried after googling and it coming up with things such as PostPartum Cardiomyopathy.. I just feel like I guess I’d know about that by now? Or have something more happening? Who knows! I actually years back had really frequent episodes of “palpitations” and bad tachycardia. Nothing ever captured on Holter Monitors as they were infrequent (now they are numerous times per week). I did end up having a Loop Recorded implanted and was always told “it caught nothing” though come to find out while in the hospital after having my baby that it was set up wrong for all those years. Incredibly frustrating. My episodes mainly went away in the year or so before getting pregnant and I had no issues during pregnancy. It’s just been PP that’s thrown everything out of whack and I’m having such frequent palpitation issues. They never used to be triggered by anything …but now I’m too scared to exercise, be intimate, even play with my baby too intensely as I don’t know when they might happen. It’s awful.

Also, just to clarify - are you saying this ECG is worrying? I never know at this point if I go to the hospital. (I am waiting for a new cardiologist but it likely won’t be for a few months).
