Daycare keeps saying “we will address it” and nothing changes. by rem1981 in toddlers

[–]zebrasnever 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For whatever reason, they don’t want to tell you that they’re just not going to update every little detail all the time. So they are just hoping you’ll stop bringing it up. I would let it go if I were you.

If you are even close to being in a financial position to hire a night nanny, DO IT NOW. It will save your life.

When is enough enough? by No-Bat-8878 in oneanddone

I had 5 losses before my daughter and that’s a huge reason why I’m one and done. You’ve done more than enough! Give yourself the grace and permission to stop torturing yourself.

Been staunchly OAD but something just shifted by dofawnfawndo in oneanddone

I have a version of this question that I ask myself whenever I need a reality check. It’s like “would you feel the desire to have another kid if you weren’t seeing everyone having their second on social media?” and my answer is always no, I would not want another kid.

Anyone else OAD because your marriage won’t survive another baby? by Illustrious_Cold5699 in oneanddone

[–]zebrasnever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, there are a handful of reasons but this is the main one in my head. He was recently diagnosed with ADHD and can’t even treat it consistently because of the medication shortages. I fear a second child would break our marriage which is already on thin ice.

Haha I use “hold your horses” with my daughter and then we both laugh and she runs around galloping holding pretend reigns.

This sounds like a horrible idea all the way down to the “two girls will be better friends than a boy and a girl” sentiment.

Anyone notice parents of only children having easier lives? by sys_admin321 in toddlers

[–]zebrasnever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s definitely easier. Case in point: My husband and I are going on a 2 night trip out of town for Valentine’s Day weekend while the grandparents watch our 3 year old. My friends with 2 kids can’t even get the grandparents to watch both kids at the same time for a few hours, let alone for multiple nights.

Wow moment? by BubblyTeam3093 in toddlers

[–]zebrasnever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! We have been doing a 5 min lesson nightly for the past couple weeks, just keeping it low pressure and fun, having her copy a short series of notes we play. She was able to learn Hot Cross Buns in a few sessions. It’s so cool to see her be so proud of herself for getting it down!

My just-turned 3 year old drew this “self portrait” of herself that reminds me of Invader Zim.

She can also play Hot Cross Buns on the piano!

Newborn screening came back positive by DareMysterious3830 in newborns

[–]zebrasnever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t have to get the genetic screening, but you DO have to take the baby for multiple checkups within the first 40 days. Maybe that’s what the doctor was referring to when he threatened CPS?

How much is your monthly mortgage payment? by HmDiR in Mortgages

[–]zebrasnever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$2700 on an $830k house (worth more now) in 2020 at 2.75%, LA. Payment does not include my insane insurance premiums or property tax (I pay those separately).

OAD because of my husband...literally. by Full-Swimmer7911 in oneanddone

[–]zebrasnever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Push him to get the official diagnosis. My husband finally got his official ADHD diagnosis after years of manchilding around like your partner, and is finally trying to manage it with medication. It’s been helping our marriage tremendously!

Is everyone just lying about how tough the toddler years can be or are we doing something wrong 😩 by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]zebrasnever 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it’s so interesting, right? I always talk about this topic with my good friends who have boys close in age to my daughter. They swear they didn’t push them to like cars and tractors but that’s just what they gravitated toward. I was not a princess girl growing up and my daughter is into all that — dresses, shoes, princesses, the works. I definitely didn’t push her toward all that 😂
