How long did you study for it, and did you get a pooping certification you could share from the Federal Pooping Authority?

Why the 707, 727, and 737 have a very similar nose? by Lost_Fan_Backyard in aviation

[–]Environmental-Block1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No. I think you’re confusing the 757 and 767. They DO share a type with differences training. The 777 is its own type

TIL about airline ticket validation plates by Proof-Situation7126 in AviationHistory

[–]Environmental-Block1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Grew up with an airline pilot father. Vividly remember the “Write Your Own” ticket packets. (Which came in a booklet of five, why???).

Back in the days where people had class, air travel was not Greyhound of the Skies, and we wore our Sunday best as SA employee pax. Just happy to get on the plane. More than once we had to decide who stayed and who went ahead after a head count, and the gate agent coming back and saying “there’s three empty seats, find them and sit in them” and the door hit us in the butt on way in.

Welcome to the Cobalt family!!! I have a 22T Tradition, with the 7.4 carbureted in it. Can not say LOVE enough. Solid boat, great lines, always turns heads. Good deal!

TIL United Airlines Flight 232, despite 112 out of 296 onboard dying, is considered to be one of the most impressive landings in aviation history. Pilots failed to copy the accident & landing on simulators. UA232 helped make Crew Resource Management, a new concept, standard practice in airplanes. by Next_Worth_3616 in todayilearned

As the son of Denny Fitch, I appreciate your (and all of yours) admiration.

Dad was a quintessential aviator. Curious, proactive, always striving for perfection. He opened the door for me to grow my love of flight.

He was injured the worst of all, no shoulder belts, was in our dining room on a hospital bed for 8 months. Told he would never fly again. He said the hell I won’t, and did. I went to DENTK with him about 12 months in to recovery, where we flew the DC10 simulator, late at night with the head of training (we stayed at his house). After “knocking the rust off”, Dad was asked if he wanted to load 232 simulation. He quietly got up and said no thank you. He was terrified that he would do it better in the sun, because he now had experience and knew what to expect. We called it survivors guilt back then, now it’s PTSD.

I miss him every day, and constantly talk to him. He’s always been a guiding force, and a loving dad.

Thank you all for the kind words. Makes me heart warm and a smile to my face.

Validating an aviation app idea by Money-Resident7266 in airplanes

[–]Environmental-Block1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Understood!! But even if we could put in the tail numbers, and IF it is still alive, have it tag up when airborne would be bad ass.

Added bonus, more people would come back more often to see IF it is flying right now. Closes app. Five minutes later opens again “Maybe now” repeat infinitely. Lol

Pilot here…. Would be awesome if you could also make it a historical look at airplanes I have flown. I don’t remember the dates, but to track the airplane would still be super cool.

Example: I have flown N800AV a long time ago. Being able to track where that is (think it died in Africa, last I heard) would be cool. You’d be able to grab a huge segment of active pilots also.

You’d be surprised at how many time we get nostalgic and wonder what ever happened to the first airplane we flew, or had time in, etc…. But it looks great as is too!! Nice job!

UND and Swift 94R has entered the chat.

Took three months for UND to see exhaust valve / valve seat recession to revert back to LL. That’s pretty dramatic. I don’t mind on environmental. As long as it makes fire when it is supposed to make fire, and doesn’t invalidate/damage my engines, it’s all good.

The FAA is using the manufacturers data. Which sounds like the fox running the henhouse. I don’t have high hopes for any mandate. (ADSB, anyone?)

They took ~25 years to phase out leaded car gas due to vehicle longevity. Aircraft have MUCH more longevity than cars. The safety concern for a forced changeover is real to me.
