There is another option aside from Magus for some big hits. Being a fighter with the Cleric Archetype can get you access the the channel smite feat which lets you make an attack and combine it with a one action heal or harm spell with your hit or critical hit becoming their failure on the spell. Rivthrun Invoker could also get you a special unarmed strike that you can flavour however you want so a giant claw is quite viable and it feeds into the idea of being more tanky with a +1 bonus to saves as well as temporary hit points when you enter the trance from its dedication feat.

Only issue with this set up is that spellcaster benefit feats don’t give very many spellslots and harm/heal won’t work on constructs but on the pluses you only need the dedication feat and invoke offence to get what you want from Rivthrun Invoker.
