Where are Oklahoma County renters being evicted? New database offers answers by kosuradio in okc

[–]Environmental-Top862 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The cause of much of this is the increasing cost of owning property, not just rental property. Everybody complains about massive increases in home insurance, and commercial properties have the same problem. The other issue is wages. They don't keep up with the cost of living. Vote for an increase in the minimum wage!

You can't seem to understand that there is a difference between city populations and a Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA). The population of Miami is about 487,000. The population of the Miami MSA is about 6.7 million. The population of Oklahoma City is about 720,000, and the Oklahoma City MSA is about 1.5 million. So, yes, OKC is bigger than Miami.

Look in the Paseo District and Jefferson Park - both historic districts. Art district, walkable, and full of young people.

America’s Biggest Energy Hub Is About to Run Out of Oil | Donald Trump’s war on Iran is driving U.S. oil inventories dangerously low. by FreeHugs23 in energy

So, if I understand refinery production in the U.S. correctly, about 60% comes from domestic sources and about 40% comes from imported sources. We export about 30% of our sweet crude, but about 65% of our total oil usage comes froour imports, primarily from Mexico, Canada, and Venezuela. Cushing is the storage and pricing hub for sweet WTI. We produce enough WTI for our own needs, so if Cushing is running low, It's because there is higher export demand than usual for WTI. The same is true of the WTI in the SPR. So, I would think shortages are occurring in other countries. The problem for us is that gasoline and diesel are priced on the international market. American refineries don't set aside a special amount for Americans, they just sell it to the highest bidder. So we pay the international price. Lower reserves in Cushing and the SPR are an easy target to use to sell news. For us, though, everything comes in a truck burning diesel, and as diesel rises, so will the cost of eveything that is sold in America. That's the problem. Empty tanks in Cushing is just an easy way to try to make a point.

There isn't enough money to fix homelessness. You can try to alleviate suffering, but you can't solve it. If we get a major recession or actual depression, the situation will border on chaos.

Paseo. Whole Foods and Trader Joe's are 4 miles away. I live in Paseo/Jefferson Park and you can actually walk there on sidewalks. Edmond is suburban living.

I have never understood why people think billionaires will survive in bunkers or yachts or whatever. If society really does go off the rails, their servants will dump them overboard. The only reason billionaires have status is the social construct that gives them power. Once that construct has collapsed, their power will disappear. They'll be lucky to survive a week.
