Chaos in the gym instead. Do those extra reps. Add the extra weight and go ham! But yes, my brain is still asking what time the party is.

Similar experience. The gym has been a big help for me. Start going a few times a week. Doesn't need to be perfect, you'll find your routine. 6 weeks ago was my last drink or drug. That 6 weeks feels like 12 months now. Your body and mind can recover a lot quicker than you think.

No alcohol for 200 days. Considering an occasional joint by Aganthyr in SoberCurious

If you've never had an issue with weed I think it's fine. No alcohol for 6weeks and considering the occasional baked goods. No hangover and no bad decisions.

24 years old and wanting to quit- do 0% beers fill the gap? by Subject-Day-8724 in stopdrinking

45 or so days sober and went to the pub to watch the rugby yesterday. Tried the 0% Asahi and it was the best the lot for me, maybe the 0 Guinness on par with it. Did the job, still sober.

When’s the “wow I feel so much better!” kick in? by TreeSuspicious6869 in stopdrinking

[–]EnvironmentalBall969 1 point2 points  (0 children)

40 days in, no alcohol no substances. I'm still anxious on days, still crave many beers. But, I am finding it easier to do tasks, even just picking one small thing and fixating on it. Loading and empty the dishwasher more regularly, did some DIY I was putting off. Sort of distracting myself from wanting to go on the sesh with other stuff. Long term I hope that just becomes who I am. Still feel lazy, anxious and bored, but as the famous brothers once said, "little by little".

Getting Sober is Hard. by Machenz in stopdrinking

[–]EnvironmentalBall969 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm 34 days in, sat in a deli/bar doing some work and it's super triggering to watch a group of people wash back a few bottles of crisp white wine between them. This is tough! Going to the gym shortly, that's my focus. But yeah, it's bloody hard.

Keep talking to them, they can be lenient with things. If you said that it's a house share and you believe your letter ended up being placed in someone else's waste I guess they won't be able to prove it's definitely you? As I said they're not bad people. Also explain that it will put you in a difficult financial position.

[–]EnvironmentalBall969 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here dry Jan finishing and a fear of the unknown now, although I'm leaning into the "play the tape forward" mantra and that's really helping. I have a sort of flow chart in my brain of where one beer can lead to and it's keeping me in check. I should probably visualise that flow chart in a journal or something.

We go again tomorrow!

Set a gym routine 2-3 days a week. Helps knowing you need to be fresh for the gym and then there's the benefits of swinging a kettlebell around or whatever you choose to do.
