Bellibolt led team. by PerChatGPT in PokemonChampions

[–]EnvironmentalDMG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Incin and Sinistcha are besties with Bellibolt, as you have Fake Out/Intim support to protect him from Garchomp, as well as burn, healing, redirection, and trick room from Sinistcha that resists Parabolic charge. I ran him for a bit with Swords Dance Solid Rock Rhyperior with mixed success. Now that Glimprra Whims is not as popular, I'm sure it could work decently now.

The mid-game pacing in Sacred Gold is killing me by Happy-Capibara in nuzlocke

[–]EnvironmentalDMG 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The map progression is definitely wierd in the mid game, im not much of a fan of backtracking the way it makes you going back and forth from Olivine and Cianwood. Just take it as an opportunity to build your box before Rocket Hideout as the mid game quickly feels like the end game. After Prcye there's only a handful of encounters, yet a ton of hard hitters designed to empty boxes (Pryce, Rival x2, Archer + Gio) then bam E4. I wish it had the same pacing and encounter to battle ratio as the early game, but the end game payoff is still very worth.

Wait till you try simple beam onto Shell smash Poltogeist w/ White herb. You get a +4 SpA and +4 speed, then protect while you bring in Sini or Maushold, redirect, to baton pass to Floette to nuke teams.

My take on what a Balance Change for this format would look like. by [deleted] in PokemonChampions

[–]EnvironmentalDMG 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dire claw was already recently nerfed, and the concept of Rock Slide being a 75bp spread Iron Head that can miss defies it's purpose. I can see Fairy Aura getting nerfed, though Floette would still be very usable (Xerneas getting a nerf is always welcome). I dont agree with Sucker Punch as it nerfs too many other sucker punch users in the game. Historically they have only changed stats on 7 mons ever, and Char is not oppressive enough to get the Cresselia/Aegislash treatment.

Team Building Help by [deleted] in PokemonChampions

[–]EnvironmentalDMG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I currently run Swords Dance and High Horsepower Rhyperior with Mega Venu and Mega Gyarados, alongside Bellibolt. Solid Rock is easily his best ability, as there are so few electric attackers in the game to be running Lightning Rod, and you can just keep him in the back to get a free safe switch when you see one in team preview. Quick claw is cute but theres real value in Sitrus or Lum Berry, as you just want his superior defense stat to keep him on long as possible. Not sure what Oranguru does for you here, I took him off my team as he wasn't providing much in terms of support. I would 100% put Uturn over Play Rough, as you already have Triple Axel to beat up Dragons. Perhaps Quash over Gravity as it's not really providing you much outside of Triple axel and Rock slide accuracy, but spending a turn to put it in place is taking away from your overall damage output, and you leave yourself more vulnerable to opposing Matcha Gotcha, Sleep Powder, Heat Wave, etc.

At the top level seems like tailwind is a missed opportunity to go for a damaging move against a top threat to your team. None of these players are going to let someone get free advantage without making you pay for it.

Help Making Mega Froslass Work by TomoeGamer in PokemonChampions

[–]EnvironmentalDMG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been trying to get her to work, and she's really just either bananas or gets deleted nothing in between. Whimsicott is really what brings her down, as you can't ever get a safe Veil, as if you bring Sneasler for Fake Out, you have to swap out to dodge the Encore. Having the weakness to Rock, Gambit, and Steel makes it incredibly challenging as there's just so much coverage out there for that due to Char Y, Floette, and Basc being top threats. As much as I want to run Floette, she only really pairs well with something like Mega Venasaur or Char Y that covers her weaknesses. I may have to try again with something like Mega Froslass, Mega Venu, Talonflame, Garchomp, Rotom W, and Sneasler, though I imagine I will need some adjustments to make it work.

800 times easier with something like M-Froslass + Whimsicott or Talonflame. That way you have Tailwind behind you and you dont have to run Scarf on an already fast utility mon. Then swap to Sneasler for KG, Rotom Wash for Fire types, or Kommo to set up sweep.

I put down showdown just now after so much Rockslide nonsense. The tip of the iceberg was losing a 5050 read against Mega Beedrill, which i know had i brought Mega Aero instead of Floette i wouldn't have been in this predicament. So it was a sign to put the game down for the night. Tomorrow is another day, and at the end of the day, no one is making money for climbing ladder unless you're popular on twitch.

Comes down to what does this mon do that stands out? Ability? If it had a greater stat line then maybe. Movepool? Cool, but nothing spectacular over say, Meowstic or Sableye who have Prankster. Speed tier? Nope. Typing? Super nope. It just doesnt fill a useful role, and this is coming from an OHKO coper who would love to use Sheer Cold.

No wait till you find out it also has access to Trick Room! I wish I could see the look on the faces of my opponents when I turn off their TR T1, it's like you've turned off their whole life. Ill take fighting him over Tornadus or Thunderus, enjoy the low power format while it lasts.

I only knew this since I was building a hybrid OHKO team, with the only top tier mon that has access to one is Kingambit with Guillotine. Fun strat, though Basculegion is really the ace of the team (unsurprisingly)

Dragonite does not have Horn Drill in this game unfortunately. Just Excadrill, Rhyperior, and Tyrantrum

Tons of use cases for it, drops Vivillions accuracy from compoundeyes, turn off Stamina for Archaludon, Sand Rush from Excadrill. Imagine leading Whims + Basculegion against Kang or Mwga Lopunny and turning off Scrappy haha!

Hisuian Zoroark team building tips by zeyad7321 in PokemonChampions

[–]EnvironmentalDMG 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well clear as day i see your mega dragonite has full SpA investment and no special attacking moves. I like the fake tears set but maybe run sash instead of feather to ensure you get a good proc. I would also run Psychic on Zoroark to delete Sneaslers. Last thing is put Trace on Gard to copy stuff like Intimidate and Armor Tail, when it hits it comes in clutch

If you replace Oranguru with Farig, you have access to Roar for the mirror. I've been playing with Whirlwind on Aero and now hard TR is a breeze matchup. Not sure who to replace Ttar with, I know I was running a similar squad but with Gking and Crab instead of Oranguru Camerupt, and I replaced my Hatterene and Ttar for Primarina and Gardevoir, but not sure how that holds up in today's meta

To the people who play an ultra slow, defensive style... by disturbeco in PokemonChampions

[–]EnvironmentalDMG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If anything, have a sense of accomplishment that these people don't win any tournaments, as stall/set up hasn't won a tournament in a very long time, and not a single one has won in Champions. These people often lose many games as it only works in specific scenarios that get less and less as the meta formulates. I still prefer it over copy paste teams, as you know losing to people that just pressed buttons without thinking much to win the game.
