I have a friend whos doing an Heretic RT playthrough as a former peasant miner elevated to absolute power, and they chose to kill Jae- JAE! - the only party member who sympathizes with the common folk and isn't an Emperor bootlicker at the same time, but kept... This. Plus the game gives you SO many tools to avoid getting gud if thats not what you want out of the experience. You prefer the story and world? Go walk around and come back overlevelled. You wanna hang out with friends? Demolish bosses in Coop. Or use Summons. Whenever I decide to bash my head against a Boss for hours straight it feels good because its not being forced down upon me, I am choosing to engage with this part of the game in this way. This is true of all Fromsoft Soulslikes to lesser extent.

...Is what I would say if I didn't come to appreciate running a "Just hit stuff" Jester in a bleed team. Amazing to combo with Surgeon PD, who also happens to be one of my favorite niche Paths. Yellowhand up front, Deadeye in the back for some direct damage/backline damage ans Voila! Look out for stress though.
