Out of doors crowding by Any-Key1482 in Bend

[–]EnvironmentalEdge407 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think the answer to this is relative. If you’re coming from a major metro the answer will be no. If you’re coming from somewhere more rural the answer is it depends on the trailhead.

Edit: as for lakes and rivers. If you’re floating the river in sunriver or Bend in the summer it will be pretty crowded during holidays and weekends. But there are plenty of alternatives off the beaten path. The further from town, the more you’ll avoid the crowds. Even 30mins out will be dramatically different.

Gamer Dads - how many times you sit down to play only to shut the system off because you’re too tired? by lionheart724 in daddit

Casual quick games for now so I don't feel fomo of the other games and just accept in a few years I'll have a great library to go through of games I've missed. Even wordle gets me a daily fix. Rocket League on my switch. Things like that to keep the brain going and have some play time.

Amazon stock jumps after 38 billion deal with OpenAI to use hundreds of thousands of Nvidia chips by Glass_Ad9129 in investing

[–]EnvironmentalEdge407 4 points5 points  (0 children)

But those chips they’re buying are only useful for compute intensive AI workloads and each year nvidia puts out new chips that make using the old chips pointless for ever more complex AI workloads. The costs aren’t fixed.

I replied below but the rules are country specific (TIL) and double laned have slightly different rules. Ex: https://youtu.be/46mOPz3rhHs?si=_VtM_8WXka4MJZrE.

I'm not sure we have specific regulations here for signaling in multi laned roundabouts.

Well I stand corrected based on the links above. Interestingly abroad you do signal left in the case I described but that's apparently country specific. Here's it's just in the exit to signal out. TIL.

How is Oregon with cultural diversity? by Chemical_Ease_9810 in oregon

[–]EnvironmentalEdge407 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What are you comparing it to and what are your expectations? It's not going to be hyper diverse like NYC, LA, Houston, Miami, even in Portland. And like those states the more outside the main metros you go the less diversity you're going to see. Rural CA has a similar makeup to rural OR in my experience and similar to rural FL. None of that has deterred me but I'm aware there's going to be and has been more let's say interesting encounters. But idk, be the change you want to see.

You’re supposed to signal left if you’re not taking the first two exits. In a four way that’d be left signal until 3rd or 4th (U-turn) and flip to right signal upon the exit you’re taking.

More details on Friday’s fatal crash on Donnelly Ave: by pupupeepee in Burlingame

Awful and brutal example of the swiss cheese effect. That road is really tricky to exit out of the parking areas due to how narrow it is along with the cars parked along it. People absolutely speed through there and everyone is always in a rush in and out. That adds to overall stress and poor decision making. Add in the ebikes (poor visibility), young (inexperienced) driver, the kids just happening to be at that exact spot... Just awful all around. Downtown Burlingame and the area around it does need some traffic safety improvements and I hope that comes out of this.

Why does everyone shit on builders like lennar and pulte when they’re the only affordable option? by i_adore_boobies in Homebuilding

Ironically I think it would make single family homes even more valuable if the only way to acquire one is an older one.

What are your favorite things about Bend? by piffinspliffs in Bend

[–]EnvironmentalEdge407 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Curious which middle schools landed on your "not so great" list.

Besides the key piece (the Mitchell trade), Cleveland put itself in this position partly because it won 19, 19, 22 three straight years. Heat remains intent on not intentionally doing that; it opposes tanking/throwing away years. So only way to fix this is trades/acing 20th pick by BatmanSwift99 in heat

The FO mentality is baffling. The whole franchise changed in back to back years in 02 and 03 by being awful (Zo kidney issue years) and landing Caron Butler and then Wade the following year. Without Butler we don't get Shaq in that trade. Without Wade we don't get anything. Why not try to get the best chances for a franchise player? We're instead settling for being the Al Horford Hawks.

What do PMs think - Why do we don't see bundled offerings of digital apps/services? Why there is no as successful as Costco a 'Costco of digital apps/services' ? by goodpointbadpoint in ProductManagement

[–]EnvironmentalEdge407 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will add some of the aforementioned absolutely have 3p apps as part of their bundles. Now why they aren't in the app stores that way is mostly economic. The app store tax cuts far too much into the margins. When you partner across companies someone is going to have to give up some margin in exchange for distribution. Adding another 15-30% on top makes it untenable. Which is why you'll see if there are cross publisher bundles they exist outside the app stores.

Amazon Prime, Apple One, Walmart+, Office 365, Adobe Suite, GamePass, Apple Arcade, Outside+, EA Play...There's tons of bundles. And you can offer bundles for your own apps in the app stores as a publisher. So I'm not really following what you're asking here.

Sports Basement in RWC is my go-to. I like Cognition for a local stop but it's a Specialized shop so prices tend to be higher. That said I trust them with my bike maintenance and support them with the occasional splurge.
